"It's a pretty long story." I say, pulling Luna along. We were trying to get away from those monsters as fast as possible. Still we've been on the run for over thirty minutes average and she hasn't said a word.
"so, your friends okay?" I ask, trying to keep things between us normal. Even after the big show down from earlier, and just how dangerous I could get.
"Yes, they had evacuated the area quickly. But I chose to come back for you, even when I had the opportunity to escape." she said in a low voice, as we begin climbing the hill.
I pause for a second, but carry on like I didn't hear what she just said. But, I couldn't pretend, couldn't even stop the words from slipping through my lips.
"why?" I ask.
I don't turn around to face her this time. But what she says next stops me dead in my tracks.
"we're connected." she said softly.
I don't dare move.
"I couldn't quite place it, buy I felt like I knew you. Even when...." she doesn't finish not as I stop her with a question of my own.
"how did you find me a year ago?" My voice is low, calm and a silent rage residing in it.
I don't turn around as I ask her the question.
"I felt it... like a tug on my heart..." she says slowly, she approaches me carefully.
I clutch my fists tight, my voice shaky.
"there's only one person who can feel me the way you do. She knows when I'm near, far or at the brick of death." I breath in deep.
I slowly turn around, "and so you know who that is?" I ask, staring directly into her sparkling eyes with mine and she stares right back.
I'm quiet before I speak.
"It's my one and only mate Eve. And that's you Luna."
