Chereads / Nephilim's Ascension: Alone in the Demon Realm / Chapter 3 - Unexpected Intrusion

Chapter 3 - Unexpected Intrusion

A chill ran down Damien's spine; he was in the middle of casting his spell, and stopping would result in a backlash. He tried to pull his wing back and dodge the attack but soon realized he was too late.

He finished casting his spell and threw his palm at Amon; if he was bound to get injured, he would make it worth it by taking Amon down.

Amon's sword's tip appeared near the wing of Damien, reflecting light. His attack was just about to succeed when a yellow flash passed by him, and the next moment, he found himself pushed back several meters away.

Damiens's palm released a powerful gust of wind, but before he could hit Amon, he found him already moving backward. He looked at his hand with a confused expression on his face and said, 'Since when did his one-star spell become so powerful?'

In the blink of an eye, his body thrust backward, careening through the air. The world blurred around him as he collided with the onlookers, who hastily scattered to avoid the unexpected intrusion. His gaze, fueled by irritation and anger, shifted towards the epicenter of the conflict, only to be met with a mesmerizing sight.

A marble-sized orb, an iridescent indigo, was shining brightly there. Its hues shifted in a dark purple and velvety black dance, like a spectral ballet. This was the very spot where his and Amon's final confrontation was about to unfold.

'Swoosh!' The next moment, a figure appeared beside the orb and held it in his hand, making it disappear. He was six feet tall. He is clad in a long-sleeved red jacket that drapes gracefully over his black trousers.

Unlike others, his body was dark brown. His yellow-colored eyes had a black-colored circle around his pupil. "It looks like I am not late," he said as he looked around.

He wore a yellow headband with a small white horn on the left side, emerging from a hole in the headband, and a six-inch black horn on the right.

Rage flared in Amon, who looked at the tall figure between him and Damien. It was a brown-skinned humanoid demon without wings.

Uncaring of the angry stares from both, he said, "Fighting is prohibited in the training field; you both should stop."

Amon looked at the tall figure before him, his fist clenched. He was just about to succeed when this guy interrupted him. He slowly stood up, clenching his fist. His eyes focused on Damien.

The crowd moved away further, not wanting to get themselves involved in the conflict taking place, but they still paid attention, curious about what would happen next.

"Who is that guy? I have never seen him here. Isn't this a training ground under Elder Ravena?" Asked someone in the crowd.

"You don't know him? He is Hiranyaksh Evilhorn, her son," replied his friend. (pronunciation: He+run+yak+shh=He.run.yak.shh, Hiranyaksh=One with yellow eyes)

"Oh, another Nephilim. It looks like Amon will finally have some company," said a younger Angel, expecting laughter from the others, but instead, he received a punch on the head, creating a bump.

"Do you have a death wish, idiot? He's not a pushover like Amon. His father is the High Elder of the Evilhorn Family," said his brother.

"Leave his status aside. Even without that, he's strong enough to fight the elders of our Family" added the one beside them. The others who heard it were surprised and now saw Hiranyaksh in a new light.

"Leave his status aside; even without them, he is someone strong enough to fight with the family elders of our Family," I added the one beside them. The others who heard it were surprised; they now saw Hiranyaksh in a new light.

Meanwhile, another group was busy with their conversations. "This Amon guy is not bad; I hate to admit it, but that guy sure knows how to swing a sword," commented one of the neutral guys.

"I never thought he would be able to fight this long against a pureblood of his age, who has strength double his own and who knew his speed would be comparable to Damien," added the other angel beside him.

"You are giving him more credit than he deserves. If it were not for him taking Damien by surprise, it would have already ended with him using one spell." said one of Damien's friends.

While the crowd was busy chattering, two figures could be seen not far from the training field.

A smile graced the rosy lips of the beautiful Fallen Angel. "See, didn't I tell you he just needs some time? Did you see his swordplay? I don't think any kid his age could match him."

"While I don't want to discredit him, part of his success was due to launching a surprise attack from close range, leaving his opponent with no chance to cast a Magic Spell," analyzed Melusina, her scarlet eyes attentive to every detail.

"You just don't like my baby; didn't you see how he stood up for his mother's honor?" said the fallen angel with a proud expression.

"I will agree with your statement; at least he is brave. However, it might not have ended well for him if Hiranyaksh had not intervened," Replied Melusina.

"Talking about it, what is this troublemaker doing here? Don't tell me; Ravena asked him to watch over this training ground." Her vision shifted toward her son again.

Amon glared at his opponent before shifting his gaze toward the person who had interrupted him. "He insulted my mother; I will only stop after he apologizes."

Haryaksh looked at Amon with a nonchalant expression on his face. He yawned with his eyes blinking, struggling to open.

"I will not apologize; do whatever you want," mocked Damien.

"You.." Amon was about to charge at him when he felt like he was moving very slowly. It appeared as if he was moving toward the opposite flow of a flooding river. It didn't push him back but didn't allow him to move forward, too.

"Chill, kid. If you are that eager to fight, then challenge him to an official duel," said Hiranyaksh as he took out a black-colored book and started moving its pages. He then looked in the crowd and pointed at one guy at the back.

The fallen angel approached him, only to find the black book thrown at him. He looked at the yellow-eyed Nephilim with a confused expression. "Recite the rules for everyone," commanded Hiranyaksh.

Having no other choice, the fallen angel started reciting, "Rules for challenging: you can't challenge another person without their consent. A duel would only be allowed when both parties are agreeing."

Not waiting a single second, Amon took a step forward, pointing his sword at Damien. "I challenge you for an official duel. You will apologize in front of everyone if you lose."

Damien said arrogantly, "You believe I am afraid of you; you were lucky then. I would have easily defeated you if you hadn't launched a sneak attack at me."

They both had eye contact and were not willing to back down. Hiranraksh saw their resolve, and a smile appeared on his face. 'A fierce battle between kids? Looks fun.'
