"Let the assessment begin!"
The curtain dropped to reveal three different types of machines and a sort of fighting ring all stationed in different parts of the field.
The first was an exact replica of the one Hunter used in the training room except it had more dummies, eight to be exact. That was the machine they were going to use for their first test.
They were three tests in total, a strength, speed and an agility test.
For the first test, the students were called out in groups of eight and each student had to punch the dummies using their full strength and after, their scores would be recorded. The students who were done with the first test were led to another machine to start the next test.
"...Chloe Jacobs." She walked up to the machine and punched one of the dummies. Her score was shown on its chest and she went to join the other students.
"...Damon Bryans..."
" ...Hunter Blade." Hunter came up and before punching the machine, activated his extraction skill.
[Strength: 23+5]
[Agility: 22+7]
[Endurance: 26+4]
He held his fist back and threw out his best punch. The numbers on the dummy's chest increased until they stopped at his score.
'I definitely scored higher than this back in the training room. Right?'
"...Ryan Jacobs..."
The students were all called one by one to do the first test. After that, they were led to the second machine.
It looked like a bunch of treadmills connected by some wires.
The students' names were called out and they all went to do the second test. They each had to run on the treadmill for at least two minutes to test their speed.
They finished the second test and moved on to the third. There was another machine which was kinda like the first but had a few little details changed here and there. Unlike the first test, you had to keep punching until you got tired.
After everything, they were led to the fighting ring where they were called out in groups of two to spar with each other.
Chloe lost her fight quite badly while Damon barely won.
Finally, Hunter's name was called. He walked up to the ring and took a fighting stance opposite his partner. The bell rang signalling the start of the fight.
Hunter's opponent was the first to make a move. He ran across the ring to where Hunter was standing and threw out a punch. Hunter dodged it and used his momentum against him by tripping him. Once he was on the ground, Hunter pounced on him and positioned his knee on his shoulder applying little pressure to it while bending his arm backwards until he heard a cracking sound. His opponent screamed in pain but Hunter didn't let go until his opponent gave up.
He walked off the stage to where the others stood waiting for the assessment to be over. They all stared at him like he was some sort of monster but he didn't really notice anything.
As expected, Ryan won in a few seconds and confidently walked over to the others with a smirk on his face. Soon enough, the last test was over and it was time for the results to be announced.
The same man from before walked on stage holding a medium sized metal box. There were six men behind him holding similar metal boxes.
"Congratulations on completing your assessment but unfortunately not all of you will pass." He began addressing the students. "Anyone with a score less than 70 will be sent back and will have to retake the test next year. Any one who scores between 70 and 75 will be seen as a lower D rank and will be given a white watch.
Yellow watches will be given to anyone with a score between 76 and 80 and they will be ranked as upper D rank.
Between 71 and 80 will be lower C rank and will receive an orange watch.
Between 86 and 90 will be upper C rank and will be given a red watch.
Between 91 and 100 will be lower B rank and will receive a blue watch.
Between 100 and 120 will be upper B rank and will receive a brown watch.
Finally, anyone who scores above 120 will be an A rank and will be given a black watch.
Now, when your names are called, come up to receive your ranks."
The students were given their watches from the metal boxes. Chloe got a blue watch and a lower B rank, scoring 22 in strength, 31 in agility, 21 in endurance and 19 in combat ability, 93 in total.
Damon scored 26 in strength, 22 in agility, 20 in endurance and 13 in combat ability, 81 in total and got an orange watch and a lower C rank.
Hunter scored 28 in strength, 29 in agility, 30 in endurance and 32 in combat ability, with a total of 119 and he got a brown watch and an upper B rank.
Finally, Ryan scored 31 in strength, 30 in agility, 36 in endurance and 48 in combat ability, 145 in total and got a black watch and an A rank.
"All of you who didn't receive a watch please leave the academy grounds immediately. As for the rest of you, congratulations on getting into the academy. You first years are to keep of the second and third years' sections but they are allowed in yours. You will receive a weekly allowance of a thousand credits a week starting tomorrow. Your lessons also start tomorrow."
The principal said as he walked off-stage.
———
"Hah! I scored higher than all of you!" Ryan said, proudly shoving his watch in their faces.
"Tyler almost scored as much as you." Chloe said.
"Who's Tyler?"
"Him." Chloe said pointing at Hunter.
"His name's not Tyler, it's hulk."
"No, it's Hunter." Hunter interjected.
"Are you sure? You look like a Tyler to me."
"Yes, I'm sure. Didn't you hear when they called me up."
"No. I was in the middle of celebrating my rank."
"Well, Hunter would have never been able to beat me, I'm just too far ahead of him." Ryan stated matter-of-factly.
"We're only one tier apart."
"But the difference between legendary and immortal tier is too much."
"Wait, you guys got legendary and immortal and I got rare. That's so unfair." Chloe whined.
"And I got an epic." Damon complained.
*Yawn*
"I'm gonna go get some rest, I'm beat." Hunter said trying to change the topic.
"Yeah, me too." Ryan said.
They headed back to the dorms and went to bed, all except one, Hunter, coz as he was about to go to sleep, he heard a voice.
'Finally, there's no one around so I can talk to you.'
"Who the heck are you?!"
