Chapter 4 - The Leave

"You okay, Silver?" noticing my blank reaction to this Aisy asked me although she couldn't see the slime that far yet, I guess.

I was still trying to process what just happened and a funny thought then passed me by. 'This could just be actually an effect of my Crystal Eyes.' I thought only to shock myself.

I uttered, "Check profile,"

[You have reached Level 4. Choose to spend your additional 10 stat points.]

I inserted all my stat points into Sight again.

[You have unlocked a new skill: Lie Detection]

This will help, but it just makes the things so artificial. I didn't bother checking the skill description. I had something more important to do. I flew back to the skill sets and checked Crystal Eyes.

[1. CRYSTAL EYES (UNUSED/UNLOCKED)

PASSIVE SKILL

LVL - 2

MANA COST: 0/s

RANK: S

DESCRIPTION: Utter 'Crystal Eyes' to use the skill.

Using the skill will allow you to see through anything. Focus on an object to turn it into crystal and explode the object. Doesn't work on living beings.

SIDE EFFECT: UNLOCKS AT LEVEL 5]

The crystal part, I overlooked the description before. This silly skill will literally let me turn any object into a crystal! The slime was totally a living being though, I couldn't understand. In the void, I just stopped and tried to think. Trying to brainstorm and figure out what happened.

I didn't reach a concrete conclusion at the end. However I made a few theories to satisfy myself. The first one being: Living beings are categorized by a form of mana or whatever that disallows this skill to impact on it. And non-living beings simply lack them.

And the second one, my skill was technically light-based as where I focus the target, it basically just reflects the light in my eyes there. Hence, as the light comes in contact with my 'Crystal Eyes' the light is changed and becomes a form of weapon.

Mixing the two, I reached this conclusion: That silly slime was in fact a living being but was still affected by my skill. Because the description is rather misleading. The reason when I say Devaste it doesn't impact the living is because they perhaps have a mana flow in their body which resists this light. Other matters however, lack this and are instantly impacted by the light and explodes.

Still! When I focus on livings, that impacts their outer body at least because there is no mana in it. That entails, their mana flow could soon heal them as well. So it will return to its original form.

Yeah, this was my theory and feeling confident in it, I came back.

"Silver!" she called my name again.

"I am alright. Listen I will kill this Giant slime and if you think you can, do the final blow and make it into your unit, in case you can't see where it is yet, just run straight and you should find it within a minute, GO."

Aisy didn't object to me. She ran as I said and I looked back at the slime, as I expected, it was beginning to recover. I just needed to focus staring at it, was it?

"Camera,"

Then I did rather not blink! My Camera skill allows me to keep my eyes open as long as I want. 'Faster, my crystals!'

My plan was to explode these crystals, but I wasn't sure if that would work, just an experiment. "Easy, Silver," I told myself.

By the time she reached close enough to the slime I noticed she picked up a bull in her skeleton army on the way. I didn't feel the need to wait any longer.

"Devaste."

It exploded like never before. The blast was massive and Erio woke up in a puzzle just to catch the light of this explosion for a second while I got afraid if Aisy got hurt or not.

"The, hell, happened?" he asked, half-awake from his 'bed'.

I didn't reply to him, did the slime die? Or did Aisy manage to kill it first. I lost my focus for a second after the blast, and I suddenly remembered things and turned off my Crystal Eyes.

Again, I could still see her from here without the skill. She was just standing before it, and she raised her hands, yeah she will try to resurrect it. Although the slime was in pieces, scattered.

I saw the pieces turn purple and gradually line up in order to create a form of skeleton slime. More pieces, one by one joined to increase the size and it didn't take too long. Aisy really made a Giant slime skeleton.

I said, "Erio, I think there was a little slime, and Aisy went to kill it,"

"Show more emotion into your statements Silver... also couldn't you just use your skill-" Erio struck right there as he heard sounds of trees falling down. Cautiously facing that way he found something he was clearly not expecting. Aisy was coming back with her slime which broke almost three to four fully grown trees by then.

"Aisy! What the hell?" Erio laughed out of his surprise, "I am falling far behind you two,"

As she came back I said to her, "Take this as a recompensation for killing your first unit,"

She smiled replying in affirmative.

And that's nearly how the night ended. Erio switched his night shift with me and I finally had my long and nice sleep. Sweet dreams.

*NEXT DAY*

I woke up out of the scorching heat falling right on my face only to discover that my whole attire became sweaty. 'It wasn't that hot yesterday' I told myself.

I found Erio half-awake on a wooden log and Aisy was far out of my sight. I was scratching my eyes as they began to hurt for some reason. Perhaps my Camera skill drained too much Mana last night. Although, the pain was gone in a moment and I was ready to start the day.

But the very next thing I felt was hunger which stopped me from going out and calling my mates to continue our journey. I ate just nothing from yesterday. And got only a little water from the river after coming out from the cave.

"Erio, Erio!" I was trying to wake him up. He didn't fall asleep as I expected.

"What?"

"Get some food,"

"You want to eat those slimes?"

"What else? I am starving,"

"I can't cook, call Aisy if she can otherwise have patience until we reach the town,"

He sounded way too rational for me to counter back. I wondered where Aisy went and moved to find a large enough tree to climb and scout the place. I am pretty good at climbing, if you didn't know. The tree I rode upon yesterday was the first one Aisy's slime broke, so I had to find another one.

Trees in this planet is simply weird, I didn't find a single tree bearing a fruit or something similar. Some had flowers, though. Maybe this is just not the season.

I climbed a random tree after giving up as all trees looked to be of the same size, and saw the forest clearly this time. The town is right where it was yesterday and rivers and forests. Yeah, very normal. And thus I forgot why I climbed up to here in the first place.

I sat there like a fool for one whole minute and climbed down only to remember that I came to find Aisy. I was dumb shocked by my own mind and fell in depression. Trust me readers, real depression.

While I was scolding my brain for being so dumb (Yes I talk to myself) suddenly Aisy appeared out of nowhere and found me doing that. I was sincerely losing my sanity and after she saw me I had nothing to say. Ashamed? Perhaps but I tried to act casual and faced the other way, "Oh my, just where could be Aisy?"

"You aren't acting normal, Silver," said Aisy.

"True, but I can explain," replied I turning my side to her.

She didn't seem interested in going over the topic however and threw me a bucket. There were some fishes in it, "You went to fish?"

"Yes, and can you cook?"

"You can't?"

"No.."

Just roasting them over a fire is enough though, isn't it?

We came back while Erio was in the same position. Barely awake, highly sleepy.

I assumed he should have rather slept than stay awake this way. "Come on Erio, light us a fire,"

Erio stood up like he just had a great sleep, "Alright," I sincerely couldn't grasp a good hold on Erio's personality.

He had some woods left from last night and got the fire with it, we roasted and ate those fishes. They were well, not tasty.

And then, after that, we finally left the place as we had to reach the village within today's hours.

We travelled for hours, occasionally killing monsters and stuff until we finally reached the village. We decided to call ourselves merchants beforehand although I suggested being slave traders making Aisy our slave. Being rational, it was more believable since we had zero money on ourselves.

Aisy instantly rejected it, of course. But even acting as a traveller or something could help but Erio said this. Quote: "Listen Silver, being merchant would allow us to get in contact with influential people here. You know, those novel tropes, if this world is replicating such this is the better option,"

I simply don't like to talk much. So I didn't object to his dumb choice and neither did Aisy.

"Also Silver, your face is way too emotionless. You sure don't need help? I haven't seen you smile or be sad or anything yet," finished Erio.

"I don't know," what exactly was I supposed to reply to that, I mean. That's actually a hurtful comment you know. "But I am not going to be a merchant, your body-guard, rather,"

"That works as well, and what about you Aisy?"

"Pretend that she is your slave,"

"NO!" Aisy protested and that was perhaps the second time I managed to irritate her. Although I was serious about it.

Anyways that was about it, and we were in front of the village finally. We were about to step into an entirely unknown culture, among strangers and uh, with zero money.

"Also Erio, do you think they speak our language?"

"Of course they do!"
