Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The path of Giants

In 1872, the autumn wind passed gently through the Peles Castle, Sinaia, Muntenia of the United Romanian Principalities, the second child born on October 5, the Crown Prince Frederik Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen; one of the branches of the royal family of the German Empire (Prussia after unifying most of the Germanic houses and territories in central Europe). In one of the rooms of Peles Castle, Queen Elisabeth I with her husband, "Karl Eitel Friedrich Zephyrinus Ludwig of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen", better known as Carol I, King of Romania (For now Prince of the united Principalities) look on with joy and relief to his newborn Crown Prince Frederik who by the mere fact of being born has stabilized his reign.

But what nobody knows is that in history, Carol I only had one daughter who died at the young age of 3 (1874). In this world parallel to ours, Crown Prince Frederick is one of the variants that never existed in history.

-9 years later...

KINGDOM OF ROMANIA, January 15, 1882:

Frederick, the crown prince of Romania Kingdom, is lying on his bed recapping the dreams he had from his childhood until now that he has recovered most of his past life memories.

'I have reincarnated!' he thought over and over again the reasons for this reincarnation, how was it possible? 'And if I'm not dreaming, and in the slightest chance that I have traveled back in time? It's impossible... Surely, I'm in a parallel world or only one of the infinite timelines?; I'm not a physicist, much less an expert in timelines or parallel worlds, so much thinking hasn't let me sleep in the last few days.'

Frederick thought frustrated and with a whirlwind of emotions that just didn't calm down, thoughts and theories of how this happened. Frederick then abruptly gets out of bed and opens one of the windows in his room.

'I have no idea what to do with this new information, these days of meditation have not resulted in anything that explains the phenomenon that has happened to me.' Frederick exhales air with a frustrated expression.

'I better start thinking about how to make all the changes that will guarantee my future and my survival in these chaotic times. 19th and 20th centuries, when human life had a price and one extremely low. In these times where discrimination, ignorance,e, and corruption are prevalent throughout the world, whether they are the "victims" or those at the top of the pyramid of power and wealth, no one will respect an "excessively" good or tolerant person as It would be any educated person of the 21st century, compared to a common person of the 19th century, maybe future generations could be outraged by reading books or watching documentaries but I don't think exploiting the advantage I have is not worth of remembering or even mentioning in future history books even it'll I would have been long dead. In addition to that if I triumph as monarch, and take my new country to the top where the most powerful nations in the world are, I am sure that there will be more praise than condemnation... After all the damage the British or French Empire did to the world but in the same way, the bad guys in comics, movies, and bedtime stories are others...'

Frederick closes the window and ends up lying down on the bed again.

'Tomorrow morning, I will do it! There is no time to lose, even if it is a bit abrupt I have no previous knowledge that can help me now but I have something infallible even if I do not know about inventions, how, who and when, or details of historical events and that is... Common sense! Unconsciously, the collection of information that in the course of my entire past life I was exposed to! Although I can't compete against geniuses of the century, I have a vision beyond the times, I just need to...

January 16, 1882

Walking through the corridors of Peles Castle, I headed to the office of my father, King Carol I. Upon my arrival, after walking for a few minutes, I knocked on the door and waited if they permitted me to enter.

"Come in," said a deep and serious voice.

"Good morning Dad, May I please have your Blessing"

I told my father, sitting behind a desk with a serious expression, having a cup of coffee while he read some papers.

"Benedicat vos omnipotens Deus, Pater, et Filius, et Spiritus Sanctus (Bless you Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)" Carol I with a smile and a soft voice and joy at seeing her beloved little son.

"AMEN"

Note(1): in the 19th century, the blessing of parents to children was still important, it was a custom that even though religion had weakened, it still had to be done and it was disrespectful not to ask parents for it.

(2) The use of Latin by nobles and important people was a sign of high class, being cultured, and a demonstration of their level of education. Words were also believed to have more power in Latin than in the native language of any existing country.
