Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The path of Giants(2)

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.

Carol I stops doing whatever he was doing, and he gets up from the desk to kiss his son on the forehead and they both proceed to sit in the armchairs at the side of the office.

* For Carol I and his wife, Frederick is their world, as heir of his legacy and now even more after the death of their first daughter, Princess Maria at the tender age of 3 .

After a talk between father and son, I indirectly let my father know my intentions to study abroad.

"Do you want to study languages and history?"

Carol I surprised, he knows that his son is more confident and intelligent than other children of his age, but he had never shown interest in anything other than fencing, riding horses or accompanying him at hunting.

"Yes dad, I have heard the adventures of the knights who travel the world deciphering mysteries in tombs in Egypt, speaking different languages and fighting vile pirates, cannibals and pagans who spread evil everywhere" I said ringing as naive as possible

"I also want to see the world, defeat evildoers and find huge fortunes by deciphering mysteries and riddles"

Carol I giggled, and thought 'Maybe, this is a good opportunity for him to learn at an early age with such enthusiasm'

"Oh, I find it wonderful my beloved son, if you want to be a great adventurer, it takes a lot of knowledge and perseverance!"

Carol I continued

"I'm going to hire the best teachers from all over Europe to teach you whatever you want, like the basics of fencing, languages like English, French, Spanish and Latin. With those 4 languages, plus German and Romanian that you already know, you'll speak 6 languages and it may not be impossible for you to be the best adventurer in the world!"

Frederick opens his eyes briefly and laments that the days ahead will be very stressful.

"Thank you dad, and yes after my adventure I will write books about how our family discovered ruins with treasures and fought against ferocious animals all over the world!"

After talking about mundane things for an hour, Frederick headed to his bedroom.

'I didn't manage to get him to send me to study abroad but at least I achieved my main purpose which is to educate myself. What I can assure, knowing pieces of events in the future, is that I need basic knowledge to be able to achieve my goals, language and maybe in the future I can study economics or political science, history is essential because something we all know but ignore is that history repeats itself! Not 100%, much less in all events, but it can give me variables that can occur and seem logical for a person of the 21st century... Many geniuses of the century, although they already know about it and use it for their benefit, but not many use it to what i want to use it! Money, pure and hard capitalism, millionaires are made from economic crisis!'

I though with a small smile and a riot of pent up emotions.

'Although I have several ideas for inventions that would make a lot of money but that would be for the period of market globalization, right now not everyone has the purchasing power to buy innovative products. First, there must be products that I can invest in but I must not be the inventor... I don't know where to start, but if I raise capital and invest in established companies, ideas will flow from there. ..'

He pondered as he tapped his fingers on the nightstand.

'Financing, finance... I could get involved in the lottery, casinos, loans and services that do not involve inventions; it's the safest path, i can start with real estate and related services, it will take time but while i educate myself, they are the best options i can think of to make money without much involvement or risk.'

He thought as he followed the sound of wood being lightly struck.

'I know which countries will not be at war or at least not invaded in such a way that I lose my investment. It will be a headache to convince my father to lend me trusted servants and staff to start my small business...In conclusion, the first thing I should do is cultivate a circle of trusted servants that are not fully monitored by my father to avoid conflicts between our ways of thinking.

I inhale for a few seconds and then exhale all the accumulated air, letting out a small yawn... I remember not having been able to sleep well for days...

'There is no other way, now I am very emotionally excited and tired from lack of sleep. These future plans can change as I analyzed, gain new knowledge or remember useful things'

Little by little, I leaned back more and little by little closing my eyes... Until I fell completely asleep.

Note: (1) Like any other person, the protagonist can change his strategy as he grows up, gains new knowledge or a historical event happens that he himself did not know about its existence.

(2) The butterfly effect will not be very evident due to the lack of historical knowledge of the protagonist from his point of view will hardly be able to notice the changes in the timeline however it will definitely affect how the history was written and lived.

(3) I am a new writer, things like characters lacking in personality or development, bad plot development or it becomes too boring, I would appreciate opinions and how you would solve it from your point of view. I will try to focus on something that has always seemed fascinating to me, which is the development of the territory/economy and personal growth of the protagonist, both wealth and knowledge. Romance I doubt that it is my forte, I will do the minimum required but I will do my best to make the wife / fiancée had personality and contribute to the plot
