Chapter 27 - [Chapter 24] Foxes V/s Wolves Part 14 ~ Apologizes and Consolation

[South Korea, Wolves Headquarters]

[Midnight 1:39 am]

[Attack Commence on the Wolves]

...

Seeing Kyro's beaten body, many foxes couldn't help but lose their fighting spirit as they fell to their knees. Their clan head has fallen in battle and the main cause of it doesn't even seem at all, out of breath, leaving no room for a sneak attack of any sort.

'Is this the end of the fox clan?'

Many asked themselves as they looked around for answer, just to receive unsure looks from one another in response. Nobody dares to utter a single word. Who knows what their clan head's murder will do to them.

In the end, they are sitting ducks like the wolves once were. As not only theirs, but the wolf's fate lies in her hands. The question is what will become of them? Even as they asked themselves this question, neither of them knew how to respond to it. Fret that if they did, it would come true.

And it wasn't the good kind of thoughts either, but the bad ones. Ones where the entirety of the fox clan is annihilated, ceasing to exist all together.

None of them were prepared to die.

Sure, they knew what they were signing up for when they decided to join the awakened world and participate in these experiments, but never had they imagine a time where it will be them on the receiving hand. Talk about karma striking back.

Terrible timing if you ask them. But like I said before, 'time does not wait for anyone. Unless you are a certain Seo twin.'

They watched as Yulius approached Kyro's wounded body. Kneeling to his eye level she asked, "any last words?"

"Not really," he answered back, before remembering something as he looked over to Zefron's direction who was with Shiro, the remaining wolves, and the foxes. "Actually," he started, "I do." He said, doing his best to stand up to face Zefron and the other foxes.

Failing miserably as he had to rely on an invisible force to help him stand. But even then, it wasn't easy and knowing that his time was running out very quickly, he hurried up the process in spite of all the pain he felt all over his bloody body.

He looked over to the only person who could possibly assist him with the invisible force and gave her a nod. Holding onto the air more strongly this time, he manages to steady his wobbly legs that still couldn't help but shake.

He really was in no condition to stand or move at all, but his pride wouldn't allow him to die lying down. Moreover, he must have the last word, or more precisely, the last laugh. It's embarrassing to give in to your weakened body at the last minute, but if it's his last moment, then he must push forward.

Kyro stood up proudly, but not as the fox clan head, or the psychopath who did experiments on children, etc, but just as Kyro. Even as he stood proudly, there was no trace of arrogance lace in his stance. He seems like he finally accepted his fate, his lost, and where he went wrong.

Slowly, he took in a deep breath of the dusty air residing from the aftermath of their battle, before exhaling once he gathered his thoughts. He steadies his voice, speaking loud and clear for everyone to hear his last and final words, as the last minute of his lifeforce ran.

"From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to each and every one of you, mainly Zefron, for all the suffering I have caused you all. I know my apology won't mean jack sh*t as the damage I have done is irreversible, but I stand here, trying to humble myself, as I confess each and every one of my sins."

There, he confessed every bad thing he has done. Starting with framing his men for his mistakes, to experimenting on children, to planting fake evidence to start war with other clans, to purposely offering some of his men as experiments for other clans. And finally, admitting the truth about Zachary's death.

As he said all this, he didn't say anything that could justify or defend himself against the many crimes he has committed. Then again, even if he did, I don't believe any of his excuses could ever cover up the many times he has wrong every single awakener he has ever met. Moreover, experimenting on children really set it off for everyone.

Zefron stood there in silence. Yes, even as his previous master admitted that he was indeed his brother's murder, it didn't make him feel anything. He expects to feel better once he knew the truth, but for some reason he felt nothing.

Instead, he felt that his soul has already moved on. His heart still aches at the thought of his brother's death, but it no longer hurt as much as when someone dare mutters his name. And he knew the reason to his healed soul was due to his new masters, Yulius and Chelsea.

Though he hasn't met Chelsea officially, he observes from afar that she is certainly playful, childish, and a troublemaker. Really troublesome, but the good kind. There certainly won't be a moment of peace in Eminence as long as you're in the presence of Chelsea Alora Seo.

If there was, then you know for sure, that you are in the presence of an imposter. Luckily for them, they have the other twin who is more reliable, responsible, and independent. All in all, the one actually running the organization and doing her job as Eminence's chairwoman.

Meaning, that in spite of all the chaos one of their master's may cause, the other one will make sure she cleans up after herself. As a result, he concluded that he doesn't have to worry about Chelsea-sama as much as he thought.

That doesn't mean he won't have to keep an eye on her. Because at this point, he's basically transfer from being a talented tool for Kyro to use for his disposal, to being a babysitter for his master. Sigh, what has his awakened life come to.

But he doesn't mind it one bit. He didn't regret joining Eminence from before, so why would he now. Sure, he'll probably grow twice as many white hairs being in the presence of a psycho, but he firmly believes he'll be happy for once in his life. He'll find a home in Eminence.

Something he never thought he'd find in his entire lifetime. But somehow, he was presented the chance to obtain one. Who was he to turn away from such a gracious offer. And boy would he be stupid to deny it. If his brother hears of this, he's sure he'd grovel in his grave.

So not only for his, but Zachary's sake, he chose Eminence. To change the world, to create a safe haven, and most of all, to create a better world for awakeners in general. Something he wasn't able to have, but if he could prevent the same fate from occurring to others, he could die without regrets and face his brother in the afterlife with a proud smile.

That is what he plans to dedicate the rest of his life for. For his master's and only his masters. And for all of Eminence. With those thoughts finalize in his mind, he looked to Kyro's griefful face a bit at ease.

He doesn't forgive Kyro for what he has done, but he acknowledges his apology, knowing that if he had time left on his hand, he would've spent the rest of his life trying to right his wrong. Sighing, he realized he has changed a lot within the little time he has changed masters.

A good change that he'd like to keep if you ask him. With that thought in mind, he decided to give Kyro a farewell, seeing as his body darkened and slowly turned to ashes. "I acknowledge your apology, but it doesn't mean I accept it." He said, surprising many as they never thought he, out of everyone would acknowledge his apology.

Slowly, one by one, some fox members who has fallen victim to Kyro's schemes announce their acknowledgement to his apology. And for that, he couldn't help but tear up. Even as his body disintegrated, tearing his insides apart, burning his entire flesh and skin, he felt relieve.

He wasn't forgiven, but at the very least, they acknowledged him for trying. Truly, he does not deserve any of this and yet he somehow received it. Fully knowing this, he realizes he can die without many regrets.

Eventually, he felt his end nearing, and just when he was about to close his eyes forever, he was pushed to the ground by a small ball of sunshine. His sunshine. Who was none other than his daughter, Kira.

As he laid sight upon his child, he couldn't help but feel regretful once again, watching the teary child hug him tightly, like he was about to disappear at any given moment. "I'm sorry," she manages to sob out, earning a heartache from many, especially her father as he caresses the top of her head gently.

"I'm sorry," she repeated, confusing many as she had no reason to apologize for anything. But only 3 knew the truth as to why she was sorry. The irony of the situation, someone who is not used to opening herself up, creating barriers to protect herself, is here crying her heart out to a complete stranger, all because she decided to play a bad joke.

Well that certainly didn't last. In fact, nobody was even laughing so how can it even be considered a joke in the first place. Moreover, it certainly wasn't her intention to become all emotional playing a fake role. But it just happened. Even someone as cold and heartless as her can feel sadden by one's death.

She certainly didn't think it would be as Kyro's fake daughter, a complete and total stranger at that, but after knowing a bit more about him, her baby blue eyes in disguise couldn't help but sting with tears. Not the fake actor type crap, but actual real tears shedding from both eyelids.

Of course, there is the possibility that this is all an act, but Yulius knows better.

And as her twin, sharing a deep connection with her since birth, she can feel her heart and soul sting, shattering slightly. Not completely, but she's sure if she had spent more time in Kyro's presence, she's sure she would have broke.

After all, even if you lock your heart in a steel shut case, no matter what, the heart wants what it wants. It will not allow you to build up walls that are incapable of being brought down. Because the heart is one's greatest desire.

It reflects human's desperation, salvation from the loneliness of the world. And more than anything, human cannot survive by themselves. No matter how hard they try, humans need one another to survive. Even if you distrust them, hate their entire guts, or overall want to kill them, you cannot live without one.

Given that we humans hate loneliness above all. And if your worse enemy was the only other human left alive, you would've hesitated to take their life when given the opportunity to, relinquishing yourself of a companion. Someone who can understand you, talk to you, and be the only capable person to stand by your side.

That was shown in that one King Kong movie where a Japanese and American man from World War 2 got trapped on Skull Island. There, they fought it out, but eventually made peace with one another as they realized they were the only humans there who understood one another.

Continuing their fight would be meaningless if they were no longer fighting for a good solid reason. Sure, they were fighting for their country earlier, but where are they now. Skull Island. And Skull Island definitely did not look like a battlefield between the Japanese and the Americans.

Meaning there was no significant gain for either of them if they continued to fight each to the death. So, they put aside their difference and built a life on Skull Island as best as they could until an unfortunate event where a beast residing on the island took the Japanese warrior's life, leaving the American to fend for himself.

He did later meet good natives residing the island that helped relieve him of the boredom that comes from being isolated for some good months, but it still didn't change the fact that he would've been alone from the very beginning if not for the Japanese dude. He's sure he would've gone insane and for that, he couldn't be more thankful for fate allowing them to meet.

But neither of the twins believe in such things. Fate is nothing more but a lie. An illusion. They learned that better than anyone from their 1st life.

Which was why they didn't believe in soul mates, or one fated mate. As the heart wants what it wants, and if you just so happen to fall in love, it just happened. There are no red strings attached that guided you to them, you just so happen to meet and fall in love to them. Nothing more, nothing less.

Talk about anti-romantics. But can you blame them for the many betrayals they've face with the many women who stood by their sides not because they love them, but because they needed them. Use them. Heck even their childhood best friend they've known since birth threw them away too, all because she was jealous.

All the more reason to guard their hearts. You don't know who to trust as trust is truly a fragile thing. Explains why they're very paranoid, though it's mainly with things regarding the awakened world or their innocent cinnamon roll brother, Jiwoo.

Moreover, when it comes to relationships, they usually stick to short-term relationships and avoid long-term ones all together. Talk about red flags. But both sisters can agree on one thing, they are not players.

Sure, they slept around with some women here and there, but they aren't like some cat in the heat, needing to bed every single woman they laid eyes upon. Nor are they 2-timing b*tches. Cheating is an immediate turn-off for them.

They're particularly picky but nonetheless, sex is only to relieve their built-up stress when it gets too rough. Moreover, they have to make sure the women they spend their night with aren't out to get them, as scandals are really troublesome matters to deal with.

Which was why Yulius knows when Chelsea is faking something or actually being genuine. No surprise there as they only let their guard down in the presence of people they trust, limited to their parents, cousins, basically anyone who has deep ties with their family.

Genesis and Lionheart's family joining together was something nobody ever expected. But it just so happened that both family's heir was born on the exact same day, exact same time, and at the exact same hospital.

Was it fate perhaps? One would question. Yulius doesn't want to believe it. Neither does Chelsea. However, a part of them couldn't help but believe that it was fate that bought them together. Even if they didn't want to believe it, they couldn't just brush it aside as a mere passing thought.

Everything happens for a reason.

Perhaps Yulius and Chelsea were destined to be brought into the world together.

Heck if they know if that was fate's intention.

Nevertheless, they couldn't care less and made full use of their situation wisely. So what if they were not related by blood in their 1st life, they're sisters in all but blood and the bond they share is something nobody can break, not even their creators.

Their reincarnation only seemingly increased the strength of their bonds. And being connected by blood didn't make it any better. Not that they cared.

Whether fate allows it or not, they will continue to take full advantage of everything at their disposal in order to achieve their desired goals. Fate can go f*ck themselves for all they care. They will get what they want. Mark their words. Everything and anything are theirs to take.

You have the words of the strongest to account for.

And they are sure to keep their words.
