VICTORIA'S P.O.V.
"Kagami," I chimed, my voice carrying a singsong quality as I breezed into the room.
There she sat, behind her sleek, high-tech desk adorned with rows of super-fast computers. Nervously, she bit her fingernails and tapped them on the table, anxiety etched across her face. Something was clearly troubling her, and I couldn't help but wonder what it was.
As she caught sight of me, her expression shifted to one of disapproval. "Vivi," she sighed heavily as I plopped down on her plush, fluffy bed. "What were you thinking?" Her voice dripped with concern.
"That man was utterly inexperienced, Kagami. Utterly. And look at me," I gestured to my unscathed figure. "Not a single scratch."
She let out a weary sigh and regarded me with bored eyes.
"What?" I prodded, a hint of annoyance creeping into my voice.
"Nothing, Via aunnie," she replied mischievously, a glimmer of amusement sparkling in her eyes.
I scoffed, my disbelief apparent as I averted my gaze. She knew how I despised the Korean honorific. "I had just taken off my earphones, chill," I said dismissively, trying to brush off her use of the term.
She couldn't suppress a giggle, but the laughter faded swiftly when my dark brown eyes bore into her, piercing through her soul. She averted her gaze, cleared her throat, and turned her attention back to the laptop screen, which sat open on her desk alongside another computer.
Her hair dyed a soft shade of blue, formed a striking contrast against my own dark black locks. She reached for her headphones, slipping them on in an attempt to diffuse any lingering tension.
As I sat there, silently astonished at my power to influence her actions, a smirk played on my lips. I chuckled at her behaviour, finding amusement in how she desperately tried to evade my disapproval by resorting to distractions.
"Kagami," I said, my voice tinged with amusement. "You know, you can't escape my scrutiny that easily."
Her eyes darted towards me, annoyance and resignation mingling in her gaze. "I know, Vivi," she replied, her voice laced with a hint of defeat.
Leaning back on the bed, I crossed my legs and folded my arms. "So, spill it," I demanded. "What's been bothering you?"
Kagami hesitated for a moment, her fingers nervously tapping on the desk. Then, with a sigh, she began to explain. "It's just... You know, I was afraid, Via. I was genuinely scared that something might happen."
"But nothing happened, right?" I replied, my voice gentle. The fact that the youngest member of our team worried about me astonished me.
"I know nothing happened. But it was the first time I operated alongside you on a mission like this. I'm aware that we've faced far worse missions with Jenni and Annah, but this time it was different," Kagami confessed.
"Go on, I'm listening."
She shook her head slightly, her gaze fixated on the floor. "It's just... I was afraid that bullet might find its way to you."
"But it didn't, did it? I've been on even more dangerous missions, Kagami. And to this day, I've never sustained an injury. Bullets are a long way from me. And remember, I've said it before, that Hagrid wasn't experienced at all."
Kagami's eyes met mine, a mixture of relief and gratitude shining through. "And Kagami, you're one of the bravest teammates I have," I conveyed, my voice brimming with genuine love and concern, a side of me rarely seen by anyone but my team. She beamed, the smile spreading across her face.
"I suppose not many eighteen-year-olds are willing to join an undercover mafia team and juggle college and team missions simultaneously, right?"
"Kagami, even if I were to be shot, I would never blame you. Never."
"Thank you, aunnie. I guess I needed to hear that."
Returning her smile, I rose from the bed, flashed her a thumbs-up, and made my way out of the room, heading toward my own
