Jasper's POV
To be frank, I can swear that for a minute Charlotte almost fell for my words. She fucking responded to my kiss, but then I never expected her next action. Why would she kick me in that manner? Doesn't she have a mouth to object to my advances?
I held my anger and stood to my feet, she's lucky that she's useful to me for now, if not for that, I could have taught her a lesson she won't forget easily. The anger boiling in my veins was still escalating to a degree that might cause it to explode if time wasn't taken, but just then my phone began to ring.
"Who the cursed fool is disturbing my peace!" I groaned loudly, not that the surrounding atmosphere is peaceful, but at least I know that within a few minutes I will be okay. I hope that this call won't add fuel to the fire.
"Go straight to the point!" I demanded it from the person on the other line without checking the caller ID.
"Jasper, how dare you speak to your mom as though she's your subordinate?" She voiced out with anger in her tone.
"I didn't check the caller ID, I apologize for that. What do I owe this unexpected call?" I don't mind the fact that my voice very much reflects my anger.
"Son, who made your mood foul?" She's still bent on asking irrelevant questions, and I don't appreciate that at all.
"Mom, can you go straight to the point?" I asked while rolling my eyes in anger.
"Okay, I won't waste any more of your time, but can you come home today?" She inquired.
"Why should I?" I asked while robbing my forehead slightly in annoyance. My mom wants to be a pin in the ass for me today.
"Well, the thing is that, there's a problem here that needs your urgent attention." She announced with a serious tone that made me understand the urgency of my presence.
I took a deep breath to calm my nerves," Can you enlighten me on the problem?" I asked further, thinking that wasn't necessary at all.
"Two elders from the council are here for inspection, they just arrived. You know how they can be without you here." She uttered, and it dawned on me that I totally forgot about the elder's visit.
"Okay, I will come back today." I made an impulsive decision immediately.
"Okay, I will be waiting for your arrival." She said, and I hung up immediately.
When Charlotte walked out of the bathroom, I told her that we'll be leaving. She stood at a spot and stared at me for a whole thirty seconds, then cleared her throat in a manner that notified me that whatever she's about to say will surely contradict what I said.
"What do you mean by that?" Is this kind of joke? We just finished our swearing in ceremony and boom! We're already leaving?" She asked with an angry voice.
"I only told you, so you can start packing your stuff. We don't have up to an hour left before our departure." I stated in finality.
"Jasper, I thought we're supposed to be mates? Why, on this bloody earth, will you decide without my concept? You should have known that you can't force me to do something against my will." She walked to the edge of the bed and sat down with her legs crossed and her eyes staring daggers at me.
"Charlotte, I'm going to let your father know of our decision and if I get back here, and you are still not done, I promise that you won't leave this Pack with any clothes. I believe that by now you must have learned to trust my words." With that, I left the room.
Sporadically, I walked up to a guard who was standing at the entrance of the Alpha's mansion. " Where is the Alpha?"I inquired from him.
"He's currently in a meeting with his trusted subordinates." He replied, and I swear that I felt the urge to rip off his head. Is he psycho?
"For the very last time, where is the Alpha?"I asked again in case he had an ear defect.
"He's in the meeting room by the door to the left at the passageway in the Alpha's official building." He answered with a trembling hand.
I walked to the meeting room following the bodyguard instructions. I knocked on the door I presumed to be the meeting room, and without waiting for a response I pushed the door open and walked in.
"Sorry if I interrupted your meeting."I apologized with a Stoic expression that should tell them that I just said that for saying' sake
"No, you didn't, my beloved son-in-law." Alpha Durango grinned in response, but I didn't bother responding to it because I know it's utterly fake.
"Well, considering our deal, you should be expecting my part of the deal in a month's time. You know how hard it can be to get hold of uranium." I said while sitting comfortably on a sofa as though it's mine.
"But that wasn't our agreement Alpha Jasper, the deal is that you take my half sister as your bride in exchange for uranium. Why did it change after the mating ceremony?" Ralph, Charlotte's brother and the heir of Lotus Pack said with a creased eyebrow.
"That deal might have stood if your sister didn't happen to be my fated mate! But of the fact that I'm a man of my words, I will still give you what I promised to give you but within one month." I said nonchalantly.
How shameless can one be to sell his own sister proudly to a total stranger in exchange for uranium which he would use to make his pack invisible against external forces and more, especially vampires?
Well, I understand the fact that it takes a fortune to acquire uranium, yet that isn't a good reason for them to sell out a member of their Pack whom they took an oath to protect, even worse, the Alpha's daughter! How ridiculous?
"Alpha Jasper, why on Earth are you suddenly turning the whole facts upside down?" Ralph asked again and stood up in anger.
"I disagree with you, a deal is a deal; therefore you must abide by it or leave my sister behind." His nerve to say that only if he had a hint of why I proposed to marry his sister's at first.
"Alpha Durango, I came to inform you that my Luna and I will be taking our leave now. Have a lovely day." I stood up from my seat and strode towards the door, but then Ralph rushed to the door and locked it then leaned on it.
"I'm sorry, but you aren't moving an inch from here."
