Chapter 19 - The Popular Frederick Dunn

You can see a bustle in a TV studio. Hundreds of audiences gathered in the stands with filming equipment such as cameras, speakers, and cables scattered around. Meanwhile, in the middle, you can see a stage set arranged using sofas and other typical living room decorations. Some staff were seen busy cleaning it.

From the corner of the stage, a man appeared in a neat suit. He was immediately approached by the crew to install microphones and other equipment while he was busy studying the script in his hands.

The filming seemed to be starting soon when the director shouted to the staff to get ready. The necessary equipment was installed on the presenter and his manuscripts were taken. Then, after hearing a cue from the director, he started interacting with the audience and the camera around there.

"Good evening, everyone. Welcome to TalkThat! with me Johan Brook. Today I will make sure you never leave your seat because I have a great guest star who will accompany you for the next hour. No one in the Wirgent city doesn't know him," said the presenter starting the first greeting. The audience applauded him.

"You hear that? The audience here in the studio can't wait to meet him in person and I am sure you at home also feel the same way. Apart from being famous for being rich and hot, this person is also an inspiring young man at a relatively young age. He has succeeded in establishing several companies in various fields, from hotels, restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs, to convenience stores. Wow, isn't he amazing?"

"Yeah!"

The audience cheered and applauded again.

"Okay, without wasting time, please give a warm welcome to the youngest billioner in the city, Mr. Frederiiiiiiick Duuuuunn!"

The shouts and applause grew louder. Everyone seemed very enthusiastic to welcome the arrival of a tall man from behind the stage.

Dressed in semi-casual clothes, our enemy king smiled while waving his hand in a friendly manner to everyone. He then approached the host who was patiently waiting for him.

"Hello, Fred. Welcome to TalkThat! Wow, you look better in person," said the presenter while shaking his hand.

"Thank you, Jo. Nice to be here too," said Frederick. "You are not bad yourself. Let's take photos later."

"Woah, as expected, so the rumors about you are indeed true, Fred. They say that even though you are rich and famous, you are someone who is very down to earth," said Johan Brook, praising him even more.

"You're exaggerating, Jo. It's not like you are just anyone. You are one of the best MCs in this country, so I really want to take a photo with you as well as a fan." Frederick remained humble.

"You make me flustered. Alright, Fred. I know I am so charming and adorable so you want to always talk about me, but today is your special episode so I will make sure you get the spotlight. But for now, let's take a seat first."

"Yeah, thank you."

The enthusiasm continued to be heard even after the guest star sat down. It seemed like everyone there really liked him very much.

That was not surprising, because apart from being popular for his good looks and wealth, Frederick was also active on social media. It is also because he is considered to have a likable personality that he has quite a lot of fans.

"Do you hear that, Fred? The audience is very happy to have you here. Do you see all kinds of fans coming here for you from men and women, young and old, children, and even the babies in their mother's wombs also come to cheer you up? Everyone really loves you, Fred" said the presenter with a little joke.

"Thank you for that, Hans. You're too much for that," said Frederick modestly.

Trevor's eyes never left the television screen that was airing the popular talk show. However, instead of enjoying it, his forehead frowned in displeasure. His eyes also look furious.

Since he woke up from a coma, Trevor has always tracked anything related to Frederick Dunn. He read articles about him, followed his social media, and even watched shows featuring him. That actually felt unpleasant for him. It made him loathe the man even more.  However, he had to keep monitoring the movements of his main enemy.

"Why does he always have to act so friendly and kind? It's so disgusting."

Every now and then you will hear criticism and even curses from him directed at Frederick. It could not be helped since he knew so well how different the personality that Frederick was trying to build in front of the media from his real attitude.

The man not only has ruined his life but is also the main culprit of many calamities that befell the city to collect rewards from the system. It was very ironic because no one knew about it and praised him left and right instead. Trevor wanted nothing more than to take off his mask in front of those people.

"You're really shameless. Just wait. One day, I will shut you up. I will make sure you never have the face to appear on TV again, and I will destroy everything you've always been proud of," he said, clenching his fists even more.

'Okay, Fred. Now let's move on to the Q&A session with the audience.' The presenter skillfully led the program. 'Currently in front of us is Daniel Tomlison. He wants to ask you a question. Can you see him in the third row on the left?' asked Johan Brook,

Frederick put on his friendly smile again. 'Of course, Jo. I can see him very well. Go ahead with your question, buddy.'

The camera was directed at the rows of audience seats. A man in his 20s in a white t-shirt was standing holding a microphone. 'Thank you, Jo. Fred, I want to ask you something that I've always held onto all this time. I hope you don't mind answering.'

Frederick chuckled. 'You made me a little nervous with that. But go on. What is your question?'

'No offense, but we all know that you didn't get your success instantly? You come from a rich family, and your father is even the mayor, which makes you a nepo baby. Wouldn't it be the biggest advantage for you to be as successful as you are now? So, I think it feels not fair if you are praised and compared to other young people without privileges as if you achieved it all by yourself."

This question caused a stir among the people in the studio. Likewise, Trevor immediately grinned at that.

"Finally someone with a sane mind," he muttered as he clapped his hands.
