Chapter 18 - [Underground Labyrinth] (5)

"Golden Body Enhancement." The Mindless Monk casted his highest ranked, Tier-3 defence spell. It was a skill from the so-called "lost-era" and in the past generation, there were said to be only few spells and classes existing from that era.

Few that are known to be highest ranked classes were:

• [Sword Emperor]

• [Sword Demon]

• [Blood Demon]

• [Plum Blossom Swordsman]

• [Reverse Blade]

These were the only classes that could be recorded; of course, there were many others, but none of them were complete.

Even among the recorded skills; [Blood Demon], [Plum Blossom Swordsman], and [Reverse Blade] were lost at the beginning of the "Age of Towers." A generation that witnessed the birth of the "Towers of Sins!"

In the "Age of Towers," there existed 5 Heroes that stood up for humanity and fought against the demons pouring out from the Tower Of Sins. In the "Age of Towers," or the previous generation, the world witnessed humans stand against demons from the myths before the restless war that was fought for a whole decade was ended by the "5 Great Heroes" who were also rumoured to be called "the living records," as they were the only people capable of "understanding" and "mastering" the recorded skills from the "lost-era,"

But,

In the end, the humanity's triumph didn't come without a cost, and

The cost here were three of the 5 Great Heroes.

Which was a result that garnered the dead, the three Heroes, humanity's scorn; because their deaths also meant that the three of the "living records" except for the [Sword Emperor] and the [Sword Demon] were lost.

The pair of "living records," who experienced the scorn and greed of humanity which they sacrificed everything to protect went into hiding and were never to be seen till date.

While people like the Mindless Monk had a lucky find and got their hands on the pieces or pages of the "unrecorded" records from the "lost-era." Of course, it was nothing but a mere piece of paper or a ticket to the golden treasure trove-----"a ticket to treasure trove" because it could only be sold for gold that's worth a commoners' lifetime-----if one didn't have enough comprehensibility.

You could say that the "unrecorded" were the skills, and the "recorded" were the classes if it was from the "lost-era."

The skill the Mindless Monk found gave him a "body enhancement" skill that was recorded to be a "Tier-3" spell.

Oh, of course, the "lost-era," the "5 Great Heroes," the "Age of Towers," the decade long war, humanity's scorn for those that fought for them, and the "living records" going into hiding, everything talked about just now was in the [Last Life] story mode's official intro, so Marken, who liked the intro more than the game's actual story mode had a flash of Deja Vu when his sensitive ears picked up the Mindless Monk's words.

Of course, he didn't remember the intro entirely, but since the whole intro revolved around the only pair of hidden classes from the "lost-era" in the whole game, it was easy to remember it as he was one of the few, who were smart enough to understand the hint and get the hidden classes.

Sitting in a locked up cell, Ken, who acted as if he didn't know where he was and as if was scared for his life, thought 'Thanks to the skill name from the lost-era, I remembered a minor bit of the story...' while he trembled like a wet puppy in rain.

BANG-!

The cell's bars rang, before "Oi, you blind fuck, get your blind ass over here!!" Hertha's loud voice nearly deafened Ken's ears which were already hurting thanks to the cheers and bass boosted music above ground.

"Tch..." He clicked his tongue under his breath and walked towards the bars, keeping up his act of trembling.

WHOOOOOOOAAAAAA!!!!!

"Oi, what are you waiting for, fuck off, I want to harass my bitch!" Hertha cursed at the guard, who was watching at her and Ken amusingly. Of course, he was the reason Ken acted to be sacred in the first place.

BA-THUMP...

Noticing the guard's heartbeat getting a bit further away, Ken turned to face in the direction of another heartbeat that remained in front of him and released a bit of his killing intent, focused on Hertha.

"S-s-sorry!" Hertha exclaimed in a whisper, understanding her words displeased Ken.

".... Forget it. Speak." Ken commanded.

"M-mhm. I-it seems that the were-cow you were friendly with has also been caught." She informed begrudgingly and continued before he spoke up.

"Y-you ca-can break the handcuffs, right? I cuffed then loosely enough for their mana draining effects to not effect you by much." She muttered sweetly and the heat raising up to her face was felt by Ken.

"These handcuffs only effect those that are ranked B or lower, they are useless against someone ranked higher. Hence, your efforts and concerns are useless." Ken stated blatantly.

"Booo...." Hertha pouted cutely, doing her best to come off as a concerned, sweet, and doting wife. Of course, she wasn't really "trying" to "come off" as a doting wife, she was displaying all her feelings that thought of Ken as hers while she was wholly his.

WHOOOOOOOAAAHH!!!!

"Explain the structure, I cannot comprehend things that do not have a mana signature." Ken stated.

"Ah, ok! We are in a prison a floor below the arena, you are in the cell which is near the entry/exit stairway that is; 1, 2, 3, 4.....8 steps long. There are a total of 50 cells, 19 at the ends of which are empty as those that stayed in then died; there is only one straight hallway that is in the middle of these cells, next to your cell is the cow woman you spoke with, while there are two rank-B guards guarding the hatch that leads them to us." Hertha described as Ken made a basic structure in his mind.

'If only this stupid map displayed the levels below or above ground together with the building's structural design, it would have been so much easier! They could have particularly acted as my eyes even though I'm blind.' Ken cursed in his mind.

"Get that were-cow and your mom to safety. By safety I mean, to the floor which is beneath this floor, if another floor doesn't exist, get to the spot that is lower than this floor. The lower, the better." Ken stated as if he didn't really care.

"Mhm." Hertha nodded with a hum in affirmation and smiled sweetly at Ken, who couldn't see her loveable expression.

Noticing Ken walking away, Hertha absent mindedly stretched her hand through the bars and tugged onto his clothes. "I, I have another information." She muttered as her face flushed scarlet, she then gazed at Ken, who nodded and turned to face her.

"It's a s-secret." Hertha said in a urged whisper, thanks to which Ken instinctively leaned forward, giving her his ear with a deep sigh while his nose felt cold due to it being so close to the bars.

WOOSH-!

Hertha's left hand brushed past his right ear which was slightly leaned towards her mouth while her right hand held his jaw and made him turned to face her, her actions immediately caused Ken to tense, but the moment he felt something soft and warm press on his lips, he realised what that woman wanted and let her off, as his cuffed hands which were already on his sheathed sword loosened.

WHOOOOOOOAAAAAA!!!!!

After a peck, she made him turn his ear at her again, while '.... this woman is getting bolder and bolder....' Ken thought.

"I, I, I love you!" She whispered an yelp in his ear and zoomed towards the next cell where Fleta was said to be locked up. The rattling sounds of the cell opening and dragging Fleta by her cuffs trickled Ken's ears, while he stood in dismay.

"Why....."
