The world around me stops as a swirling vortex of gold appears in front of me. I take my time to admire it before walking through the portal and I come face to face with the tallest Viking I have ever seen in both of my lives. He is imposingly tall, dwarfing my six year old height of four foot five inches. He had a muscular, yet slim physique with a tall head, his hair and beard were long and brown braided into follicles in certain areas, wore a weathered blue shirt and dark leather vest over it. Like many Aesir gods, he had several tattoos, specially across his left arm and a blue triangle from the root of his hair pointing to the top of his nose. The most mesmerizing part of his body, however, were his bejeweled crystal eyes that had a yellow iris like Mimir. Rotating in this iris was the runic spelling of Svartalfheim.
In front of me was the Norse god of war, bloodshed, justice, and the oath. He is mentioned in the poetic era as the Norse god of war who protects soldiers in battle and grants victory from enemies. He's the bravest of the gods, and unlike odin, who sacrificed his eye for self-edification, he sacrificed his hand to bind Loki's son, the ferocious wolf Fenrir, to save the gods from their impending doom. Despite his remarkable feats and attributes, there is little known info about him in Norse mythology. This is because he was majorly recognized by the Germanic people, who later were absorbed into the Viking age. He is also closely associated with "Mars Thingsus", the Greek God of war and upholder of justice.
I kneel in front of the god saying with respect, "It is an honor to meet you lord Tyr. I am forever grateful to be in your presence."
Tyr smiles and says, "Nice to see that someone remembers me. Since you already know who I am, I would like to welcome you to the last battleground the nine realms will ever see. Welcome child, to Ræɡnərɒk!"
I turn in shock to see a large expanse of land with multiple bridges leading to what I assume to be the gates to the nine realms. Where the bridges meet I see an area with five pedestals sitting in a circle.
I hear Tyr say from behind me, in the happiest voice I've ever heard from a Viking, "Now....time for war."
He then kicks me in the back, launching me into the middle of the pedestals.
Taking my time to survey my surroundings I notice 5 intricately designed pedestals. Floating above the pedestals in a bubble like substance were weapons of legendary status being held by their respective wielders. The first pedestal is made out of Greek marble. The left half depicts a bald man wielding two chain blades fighting against multiple opponents. The right half depicts a bearded viking with a red mark across his left eye and shoulder wielding an axe and the same chain blades as depicted on the left side.
The second pedestal is made out of a storm cloud that holds a single bolt of lightning. In the orb above there is a blond Viking standing in front of an army of frost giants holding a hammer in his left hand and a hammer/axe hybrid in his right.
The third pedestal is made out of pure gold. It holds a blond haired man wearing royal Indian garments holding a golden ball and chain with a spear tip on one end.
The fourth holds three demons with each holding a different sword. The demon on the right is holding a long sword with a skull design at the hilt, the left demon is holding a katana on his hip, and the demon in the middle is holding a bastard sword on his shoulder.
The pedestal is made of pure white marble with a red swirl going clockwise and a blue swirl going counterclockwise. The last orb depicts a red western dragon and a blue eastern dragon fighting in a red and blue colored void.
I look around me with pure shock and mutter, "Why are these here? These weapons are legendary in their own right and with their respective weapons they are nearly unstoppable. Each weapon is incredibly powerful on their own so why are they all gathered in the same place? And why are the wielders of these weapons here as well? None of this was in the quest. Just what is going on here?"
Tyr laughs from the cliff and shouts, "They are gathered here because they have chosen to give you an opportunity. You will need to complete their challenges to obtain their respective weapon. Once you complete the challenge you will then need to face the weapons previous owner. Only then will you get to use the weapon. Now enough stalling. It's time for war!"
As he says this he throws something into the air and, when it reaches its apex, it opens up showing a blue holographic screen.
He looks up and proclaims, "Let those who wish to bear witness this game see this warrior compete! May the fates pray for his victory and may he enter Valhalla should he fail! Now let the games commence!"
When he finishes his speech the system notifies me of a change in the quest name.
