Blood pooled along the floor of the police station in a crimson swirl. The recently slain were completely silent of course, even though Tyrell wished any of them would utter even a single word. Wondering if he had gone crazy he began to recollect himself enough to make a few phone calls to get things cleaned up in the building . Stephanie and two other officers who had fortunately been in other parts of the station made there way towards Tyrell.
" I just can't believe it" Tyrell said to them . He was visibly distraught which was something no one else had seen of him.
" You stopped them from even more deaths. You are a hero" Stephanie stated trying to help perk him up or console him at the very least.
" This was another massacre . They would have kept going . Who knows how many more lives they will take. I did what I had" Tyrell conveyed with a blank expression now. " Even if I don't exactly know how".
" What do you mean" asked Stephanie completely confused. " You killed one at least" she pointed down at the body.
Slowly another officer bent down and removed the helmet from the perp. The face was in a state of shock with wide eyes. The oddest thing though was they were bright green and slitted pupils like a reptile. Tyrell shook his head and sighed as if all of his energy just left his body. " I need to go for a walk to clear my head. I will be back before anyone else comes. " He nodded his head towards the phone. " I made the necessary calls."
No one said a word and let Tyrell go. Stephanie knew how he was and he needed his walks to calm down and get his wits back at times. If there was any time more urgent for his strolls it was this exact moment. Tyrell strapped himself up and grabbed a walky talky for good measure before he set out to the street.
A black sedan slowed down on the street as they noticed him . The driver tried his best to seem innocent , but Tyrell just shrugged it off. It wasn't the time to deal with anything so simple anyway. A cat shrieked in the distance and abruptly a little war over territory was started by a couple of strays.
Besides the initial few moments of interruption the city finally calmed down. The park was a few blocks away and that was the destination.A nice peaceful spot to collect some thoughts and regroup after everything that had happened. Not that the peace would calm Tyrell's mind as that was in complete overdrive now.
Wheels of a squeaky bicycle were heard as Tyrell walked down a path in the park. A young boy was riding around in the park as night fell and almost rode into the comparative giant ahead of him Tyrell just shook his head. " You should head home . There is a lot of danger around here today. I don't want to see anyone else get hurt. "
The boy nodded " Sorry. I didn't mean to almost hit you. Just was cruising." He smiled at the detective " but you're right . I do need to get home.".
Riding off the child gave Tyrell a wave. Thinking to himself Tyrell wished everything was that easy. Today has been the strangest and worst days of his life and he had seen a whole lot of weird things before. Figured he would be used to it by now , but no one at all could get used to seeing a few dragons that wholesale slaughtered people. How had he stopped them was a question that kept running in his mind. Where did that light come from?
Fate has a funny way of interjecting itself. As luck or unlucky would have it Tyrell suddenly had a bit of a nauseous feeling and an oddly insatiable overwhelming hunger. On a bench across the way was what seemed to be a couple making out . Tyrell looked closer and saw the man was at her neck and she was seemingly convulsing a little bit.
" Leave her alone" Tyrell screamed as he made his way towards the bench.
A scraggly homeless looking man jumped up from the bench and had blood smears down his chin. A long thin beard and white hair stringy hair. His overcoat looked like it came from a different era entirely. " How do you see me " he screached. Instead of waiting for any answer he took off running. He was fast . Definitely more than normal humans running speed.
" Freeze you bastard . I don't have time for this " Tyrell growled at the monster pretending to be a man. Suddenly Tyrell got even faster as he chased the wild blood drinking hobo through the park.
Tyrell managed to catch up somehow and dove on top of the wild psycho. Holding both of his arms down, Tyrell next pinned the man's chest down with his knee. " What the hell do you think you are doing? " Tyrell demanded.
" I was just hungry." The man said as he looked back at Tyrell with bared fangs. " No one ever sees. No one gets hurt . Just a little bit of blood missing. No humans ever know what goes on".
" That lady looked like she was hurt and I bet she would have a problem with some stinky ass bum biting her. ". Realization finally kicked in at that moment. " Wait . You can't be a damn vampire"
" People call be Bo. And why can't I be one? You obviously see with your own eyes somehow." Eyes narrowing a little bit " and how is that possible" Bo asked. " We have ways to hide ourselves so no one ever knows".
" Dragons and now Vampires" Tyrell grimaced " I don't know which is worse . I'm going to assume the Dragons."
Bo's eyes got wider than anyone's eyes ever had a right to be. " There are dragons around here" he asked " and you saw one and didn't die"
" No. I killed the son of a bitch , but a lot of good people did die" Tyrell grumbled as he shoved his knee harder onto Bo.
" Please don't kill me." Bo pleaded . " I don't kill anyone. Just take what I need to survive. I'm one of the better ones"
" That's subjective. All I see is a monster right now " Tyrell stated angrily.
" Wait . Wait. I can help you. Give you information. You seem new to all of this. It wouldn't hurt to have someone on the inside of this new world . You must be a dragon slayer and don't know. " Bo did his best to reason and it seemed to work as Tyrell let up the pressure a bit.
" Dragon slayer" Tyrell questioned as he scanned the park and luckily didn't see anyone else nearby. " What the hell do you mean by that" ?
" You said you killed one. They aren't easy at all to kill. One of the nastiest, toughest things anyone can come across. Regular humans can't kill them . Only the slayers. You got some kind of magic in your blood . Means you are a Slayer and if you let me up I promise not to run. Wouldn't do me any good anyway obviously." Bo kept babbling on. " I will tell you about all kinds of shit you never knew which will help you survive. Think of it as a favor or a deal. ". Tyrell suddenly released his grip entirely on the vampire.
" I dealt with a lot in my life. But you're right. I will need to know about all this crazy horse shit. You try and swindle or cross me anyway I will take you down though." Extending his hand hesitantly towards Bo.
" It's a deal . And you definitely ain't in Kansas anymore" Bo said quite relieved.
