I woke up, my eyes adjusting to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. The bedroom exuded a sense of comfort, with a spacious, inviting bed adorned with plump pillows and silky sheets. The room itself had a touch of luxury, painted in soothing, neutral colors that created a relaxing atmosphere.
As I sat up and took in my surroundings, a wave of realization washed over me – I wasn't in my own home. The room looked far fancier than what I was used to. It boasted elegant furniture and beautiful artwork hanging on the walls.
"Oh... I'm no longer in Nightfang," I whispered to myself.
"Unatha, wake up," came a deep voice from behind the door, startling me from my thoughts.
I hurriedly looked down to see what I had on, relieved to see I was in the white dress from yesterday.
"Jaxon?" I questioned, my voice filled with surprise as I recognized the voice. How did he know where my campus and why did he come in just like that?
"Yeah, it's me," He replied. "I brought over some pasta for you."
The mention of pasta, my all-time comfort food, was enough to motivate me. I pushed the covers aside and got out of bed, rubbing my eyes sleepily. As I opened the door, Jaxon handed me a plastic container filled with the delicious aroma of pasta, his eyes watching me intently with a hint of amusement.
The pasta before me was a mouthwatering sight, a colorful and aromatic masterpiece that seemed almost too good to eat. It was a generous portion of al dente spaghetti, perfectly cooked to retain a satisfying firmness. The noodles glistened with a thin coat of olive oil, giving them a tantalizing sheen.
The sauce was a rich and velvety tomato concoction, simmered to perfection. It clung to the pasta strands like a loving embrace, each bite promising a burst of savory flavor. Diced tomatoes and fresh basil leaves were scattered throughout, adding a burst of freshness and a vibrant red and green contrast to the dish.
"Oh boy," I couldn't help but murmur, disregarding Jaxon's presence.
"Thank you," I mumbled to him, my stomach growling in anticipation. The atmosphere was weird, considering that I had slapped him at our first meeting and we barely knew each other. The amusement in his eyes immediately vanished, replaced by a cold and distance gaze.
"You're welcome. Enjoy your meal." He muttered icily, not sure of what to say.
I settled at the small dining table, and Jaxon joined me, maintaining a polite distance as we ate in silence. The tension was palpable, and I couldn't help but shiver at the sheer aura he was exuding.
So far, I had met three men with such domineering energy. Damon, him, and the mysterious man from yesterday.
After a few bites, I couldn't bear the awkwardness any longer. " Why are you here?"
I asked, a hint of hesitation in my voice.
He hesitated, his gaze dropping to my plate, his countenance darkening. "Alpha's orders."
I let out an "ooh,", determined to not say more and wondering why there was so much mystery surrounding this 'Alpha'.
I shifted my focus to my pasta, sensing that there was more to the story than he was letting on. Before I could say any other thing, he spoke up.
"Sabrina will be here in a few minutes with some fresh clothes. I need to go." With that he got up from his stool, heading towards the entrance. I noticed that he wore a cologne with a blend of sandalwood and vanilla, creating an enticing aroma that blended with his natural scent.
"Okay," I muttered, eager for him to leave and feeling self-conscious.
"Make yourself comfortable," he nodded at me before exiting the house, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Shortly after Jaxon left, I was still trying to finish my milk when Sabrina came in. She held a big Chanel bag in one hand, wearing light brown khaki shorts and a black long-sleeved shirt.
Her emerald eyes were as piercing as ever, and her red hair was packed into a messy bun. From her mannerisms, I could tell thaf she seemed a bit more relaxed now.
"Morning, Una," she greeted, her voice carrying a hint of warmth.
"Morning, Sabrina," I replied, setting down the glass of milk. "Jaxon told me you'd be coming. Thanks for the clothes."
She flashed a quick smile, her lips curling into a small grin. "No problem. You'll need something to wear around here. Let's see how they fit." Her sudden change in demeanor was unsettling at best, causing me to ponder upon what could have brought about the change.
I stood up, and she unzipped the bag, revealing a few more outfits neatly folded inside. We began to go through them, discussing which ones would suit me best.
"I think these would be nice, don't you think?" Sabrina asked, pointing at a red sweatshirt with white motifs, "Perfect," and a pair of blue jeans knee length shorts. I pictured the outfit in my mind, and they looked good. Nodding in agreement, I set them aside.
"Now, the underwear," she started but stopped when she noticed how my cheeks turned a tomato red from embarrassment. She brought her black-painted fingernail-covered fingers to cover her mouth, and I gasped.
"Sorry, sorry! I just meant—"
"Yeah, I know," I giggled, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. From inside the Chanel bag, she brought out a smaller bag, this one filled with underwear, I presumed.
"I wasn't sure what bra size you used, but I got D cup bras," she clarified, opening the bag and bringing out a white laced bra.
"Well, you were correct," I blushed, swiping the bra from her hand.
"And the panties! I thought—"
"Sabrina!" I snickered, snatching the entire bag and taking my favored pick. The atmosphere had been so warm and inviting, like best friends swimming through a sea of clothes together, and it reminded of Ravenna. I miss her.
I excused myself and headed back to the room I had stayed in earlier. Freshening up felt like a priority, helping me settle into this new environment with greater ease. The bathroom turned out to be quite luxurious, complete with marble countertops and a spacious shower stall. I was pleasantly surprised to find a clean towel waiting for me, neatly hung on a hook.
Stepping into the warm shower, I relished the comforting sensation as the water cascaded over me. Steam filled the air, creating a cozy and tranquil atmosphere. It was during these moments of relaxation that my thoughts began to wander.
I found myself contemplating the events of the past day and the mysteries that undoubtedly lay ahead.
After I stepped out of the bathroom, I dried my body, feeling comfortable in the outfits and underwear Sabrina had helped me pick out – they were a perfect fit, as if they had been chosen with me in mind.
In the bag, among the clothes, I stumbled upon a pair of sleek black cloud slides. They felt like the perfect choice for today, so I effortlessly slipped them on before making my way out, wondering what the day had in store for me.
