Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Marie has been busy these days planning with the previous guardians and the King to come up with the annointment ceremony, where they will pledge themselves and their loyalty to the Kingdom, not the King, the kingdom.

Because of that, they've been all studying about the ceremony and it's contents in the library inside the Guardian residency, reading the book copies of basic etiquette and ceremonial practices Marie gave them.

Zion groans as he flips another page of his book, his eyes narrowing at the many words that he has to read, "I thought we were guardians, why are we studying like a bunch of students for exams? " he says, messing up his hair in frustration.

Amanda chuckles at him, "Did you really expect us to start training as soon as possible? " she asks, Amanda has become like this ever since she was chosen, so the others have come to adapt from her behaviour and learned to ignore her words.

This caused her to glare at Zion, her eyes going back to her book, visibly upset as her eyebrows furrow.

She expected being ignored by Zion, but not by everybody else! They all grew close in the book, but because Amanda was here it was like they were outcasting.

It's like as if they're telling her that she's not a real guardian unintentionally....

There was a long silence between them before the door was opened, revealing Semmi and Elise holding trays of food and drinks, "We've got food! " Semmi proclaims with a big smile on his face as he settles down the tray of food and helping Elise put the drinks down.

Introducing Semmi Haynes, he has light blonde hair, green eyes and umber skin.

Semmi is a very optimistic person and makes light in the most difficult situations, most people find him annoying, but he has only the best of intentions for the others.

"What's the food for? " Laurance asks, taking a plate of cake and a cup of tea, setting aside the book her was reading, "It's good to take breaks when you study. " Elise says, sitting down on her seat and getting herself a plate of cake, handing another one to Ziana who accepts it gratefully.

"Where did you guys even get this? " Zion asks with a mouthful of cake, Elise glares at him while Semmi chuckles nervously, "We asked the chefs for a snack. " he says, finally sitting himself down and taking a bite out of his own cake.

"The cake's really tasty.. never had something like this before.. " Ziana says, slowly savoring the soft texture and light flavor of the cake.

Elise could only stare at her cake before stabbing it with a fork, wondering if she could manage to get this cake for her Father and siblings, maybe something chocolate flavored would be better for them...

".... " Amanda eats quietly as she looks to the others while they talk amongst themselves, if she's going to live a good life here as a guardian she's going to need to improve her attitude, maybe apologize and she'd a few tears here and there... They're all weak to a 'heartfelt apology' and they'll immediately forgive and accept her as one of them in no time.

Aside from studying about the procedure of the annointment ceremony, they will need to start studying basic etiquette because the King will start to invite them to the palace from now on to get to know the new guardians.

Because only one of the guardians happens to be a noble, he will be in charge of teaching them the basics of etiquette since Marie is busy with preparations.

"When it comes to meals, you'll need to wait for the King to start eating before you can, it is only right that we follow after him. " Beck says, pushing his glasses up his nose after it slid down.

"Will this apply to when he finishes eating? " Elise asks her eyes looking up from her empty bowl to Beck.

Beck is a son of the Marquess Cunningham , he'll be the one teaching them their etiquette since he's had a history with frequent appearances in noble gatherings.

He's also a very nice dancer, the women that he's danced with feel as if they were being sweet up into the air because he carries them while dancing so effortlessly. It's also a bonus that he has such a nice smile that melts their hearts.

Beck has long black hair tied into a low ponytail with a white ribbon, gray eyes, and Ivory skin, and very unimportant but, he also has dimples when he smiles.

You could say he's quite a charmer. Must be because he is his Father's son.

Zion sighs out loud as he slumps further into his chair, the only one's whose been taking these etiquette lessons seriously are Elise and Laurance, Ziana had already fallen asleep with her head in her arms on the table, Amanda has been reading some random book for awhile and Semmi was busy doing something outside of this room.

"Is etiquette really important? " Zion asks, he didn't find etiquette quite useful if you were to apply it to real life, it's not like it's a useful skill to begin with, Elise turned to him with her eyebrow raised, "You're seriously asking that question? " she asks, not knowing if his question was being genuine or not.

"It is! " he exclaims in defence, "I'll answer your question. " Beck smiles.

"Etiquette is important if you want to make relationships within the Nobles, having a large set of influence is important aside from money. Etiquette can be used as a weapon against nobles to fully know their intentions and properly read social cues. "

"Who knows what will happen if you make an accident around nobles, maybe they'll think you're incompetent, they'll think of you as below them, or maybe you're simply not fit to be a guardian if you can't master basic etiquette.. " Beck grins as he sees Zion's jaw clench.

Laurance could only stare at them in silence as he sighs, Zion is someone you shouldn't anger, but with Beck's attitude towards him, it's like he intends to push Zion's buttons and tease him as much as possible.

It couldn't get worse than this..
