Amari changed a bunch of mana through his fist and looked towards Belat.
'Rush and Shadow Movement,' he said telepathically.
The pup nodded and only then did Amari understand what he had just done.
'How did I do that? Well the name is Soul Bond... Focus!'
A second later, Belat rushed forward, a dark eerie aura slinging his body forward with each step of his paws. He faded out of sight and reappeared next to the disgusting Spore Goblin Fairy.
His small body smashed into the creature with no effect, but that was the point. Amari's hands had gathered copious amounts of starry light.
He grinned and curled his palm into a fist, then punched out!
Star Fist!
The Goblin Fairy ducked to the side but was unable to avoid the white light. The sudden magnificent ray spiralled dramatically until it blew out a chunk of its wings.
Its ethereal voice took a drastic turn instantly. The creature's wings now looked less majestic and more fitting for the rest of its appearance.
"Pesky demon brat, you'll pay for that!"
It dashed at Amari, rapidly spewing acid shots from its body.
One was easy to dodge, but several from all directions? Amari used Shadow Movement to get out of the area completely but not before one of the attacks hit the mark.
"Not so fast you!"
The Goblin Fair crouched to the ground, exposing a giant mass of wiggling liquid spores. This mass dripped onto the ground and seeped into the floor around it. The liquid transformed rapidly to form a giant ball that spun the air around it.
"Spore Cannon!"
The ball shot out and multiplied rapidly in the air, bombarding Amari and Belat from all directions.
Amari channelled his mana and activated Dark Tendrils, piercing the balls. After what happened to his arm the last time he punched, he was reluctant to touch those liquid spore balls with his body.
'Fuck, that's disgusting!'
One of the balls pierced first turned placid and the others quickly followed suit, leaving only yellow slime on the tendrils. However a moment later, those yellow slimes turned into small versions of the Goblin Fairy!
'Goddammit!'
Amari quickly turned the spell off and moved away from that area. Belat did the same and caught up with Amari midway.
He panted. "What should we do, Brother? I'm almost out of energy!"
'Energy? Fuck, how much mana do I have left?!'
He quickly accessed his status and checked, falling.
[MP: 150/400]
"Damn it!" He looked again to make sure he wasn't seeing things. "What spell did I use?!"
His mind breezed through all the spells till he finally remembered the Star Fist he had used not long ago.
"I didn't know that the mana consumption was that much," he groaned and deactivated the Shadow Movement spell, opting to use raw speed instead.
It was not long before the mini-Spore Goblin Fairies closed in on him and Belat. Opponents like them were harder to defeat because they didn't fight straightforwardly.
"We need a way to kill that monster without completely depleting our energy supply. Do you have a plan?"
The pup was taken abak and stumbled a little bit, but managed to find his footing and keep running.
"Well, have you checked the stuff of that guy that killed mom? There was no way he killed her without outside help or treasure. Maybe we can use that to defeat this monster!"
Amari paused. He never expected Belat to bring up that subject on his own.
"Alight, I'll go through the stuff, but I need you to buy me some time," he said, taking multiple glances at Belat to gauge the pup's expression.
"Okay, big bro, I'll distract it for you!"
The pup stopped running and turned to face the dozens of Spore Goblin Fairies chasing them.
"None of you will ever get close to my big bro!"
Amari looked back, startled, only to see a massive veil of dark shadows engulfing the mini-Goblin fairies.
He cheered inwardly and found a secluded location to hide.
"I need to end this quickly. Belat won't be able to fight after whatever that attack was, and the creature will catch up to me soon enough."
One of the effects of the new skill he'd gotten was the ability to bring physical items into Dreamworld, so Amari was really lucky in that regard, otherwise there'd be no hope for them at all.
He ran a finger across his right arm until he touched the Spatial Bracelet he had worn since killing Lamart.
"I really hope Belat was right about this."
The first thing that came to mind was the large golden sword Lamart used to his death. Amari pulled it out of the spatial bracelet and suddenly leaned towards the ground. He counteracted the sudden weight by activating Shadow Tendrils to hold the sword up.
"I forgot how heavy this thing was," he muttered, balancing himself by poking the golden sword into the ground.
The earth split apart instantly causing him to smile. This was probably what he wanted. He grinned to himself and carefully lifted the sword, turning away from the scene.
"So… what do you have there little snack?" a chilling voice asked when he turned his back.
Amari cursed and spun around to face the disgusting Demon Beast.
"Do you think that puny sword will stop me? I don't even sense any energy from it. Be real with yourself. There is no stopping me!"
"Shut up, bastard!" Amari snarled, pointing the sword at the Spore Goblin Fair after much struggle.
The beast seemed even more amused after this.
"Now, now, I only offered a bit of information. No need to get in over your head because of that."
"Oh, I have something for you. Just a surprise gift I picked up on the way to you."
Amari's heart sank.
'No!'
There, Belat was, hanging at the mercy of the beast they were trying to kill. The adorable pup fainted, his glossy dark fur battered and covered in faint viscous yellow slime. The slime spread alarmingly, but never crossed a certain threshold.
"Leave my brother alone!" Amari yelled, hoisting the golden sword up.
The Spore Goblin Fairy laughed and Belat was further engulfed. Amari growled at the dangerous response as he stared at the monster.
"Now, don't do anything risky. I was being polite earlier, but that doesn't mean I don't have my limits. Cross the line accidentally and you might not like what happens to the wolf pup. Now, drop the sword, little snack."
Amari sighed and complied.
"Good. I believe we haven't started well. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Taln'irat, but my friends and enemies call me the Scourge."
"What should I call you? Amari Burrows or Raion'shalang?"
