Once outside the dungeon, they were met with a beautiful sunset. The sun's rays filtered through the leaves of the trees, tinting the surroundings in shades of orange, while in the distance the sounds of cars could be heard.
"Phew... we finally got out of that place."
Violet sighed in exhaustion, looking up and letting the gentle evening breeze caress her face.
Thinking about the trouble they were in now.
"Yeah, we finally made it out!"
Erik assisted with a smile, stretching his arms which were a bit stiff.
Because he had just moved up in rank and had practically just revived and had all stiff joints.
'Now, we have to find a way to deal with that guild.'
This was the important thing, at this point because it is 100% certain that they found out that he killed the son of the president of the Luminis guild.
Erik looked back and saw that the dungeon was still not gone after it had been cleared.
"By the way, will the dungeon disappear, or will it remain and new monsters come out?"
Erik asked curious.
He doesn't know how dungeons work after being cleared, because it was his first time clearing one and he wanted to know if the dungeon disappears or if the monsters regenerate again.
"Hmm, this dungeon will disappear in a few minutes."
"Oh, this dungeon disappears, what are the dungeons that don't disappear?"
I ask this was the doubt I had now because according to what I had heard in the news some dungeons don't disappear.
Do you want to know the difference between dungeons that disappear and those that don't?
"Non-disappearing dungeons are those that do not kill the boss monster. Meaning that if you don't kill the boss monster the dungeon doesn't disappear."
Violet explained fixing her hair.
"Hmm, I get it."
Erik now understands why some dungeons don't disappear.
Also, some dungeons are rich in materials, so it would be a waste to clean them, humans by nature are greedy and selfish.
So obviously they won't let the gold mine, which is the dungeon's materials disappear
"So we're leaving now?"
"Of course no problem."
They headed towards the parking lot stop, which was quite far away, where Violet had her motorcycle.
After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the parking lot, where the only vehicle was the impressive black Kawasaki H2R.
Violet took off her mage robe and underneath wore a black sweatshirt with purple shades.
She climbed onto the motorcycle and handed the helmet to Erik.
"Hop on."
"..."
Erik is undecided and hesitates between traveling with this woman or waiting for the bus.
He was seriously considering the option of waiting for the bus and going quietly to his old apartment.
"Why are you hesitating? Get on before the traffic starts."
He didn't hesitate any longer, and put on his helmet, securing his backpack tightly on his back. Erik thought the dungeons were dangerous and didn't understand why he hesitated to travel with Violet.
'I'm a man... Well, I was. Anyway, whatever.'
He sat behind Violet and grabbed her around the waist, not wanting to fall off the bike.
Violet quickly made her way to the Mana Stone store before they closed.
***
After a journey of an hour and a half, as night slowly fell, Erik and Violet found themselves in front of the mana stone store.
The building looked much like a bank, the only difference being that hunters came here to sell the stones they obtained from the dungeons.
They both headed towards the entrance of the place and as they entered they noticed that it was almost empty, as it wasn't long before it closed.
This turned out to be perfect for Erik and Violet, who didn't want to draw too much attention to themselves.
"Can I help you with anything?"
The worker asked with a professional smile, though inside she was grumbling at these two for arriving only a few minutes before the close of business for the day.
"We're here to sell all these mana stones."
Erik said, placing the medium-sized bag full of stones on the counter.
The worker almost broke her professional smile. Inwardly she was cursing Erik and Violet for arriving at that hour to sell so many mana stones.
The worker let out an internal sigh and said:
"Please empty the manna stones into this basket."
As she emptied all the manna stones into the basket, the worker felt like crying.
She seriously wanted to throw these people out right now for bringing so many mana stones about to close.
With just a glance, he could see that there were over a hundred mana stones in the tray.
"One question, how did you get so many mana stones?"
She asked after seeing the overwhelming amount.
"We had them in storage."
Erik lied matter-of-factly.
"..."
The worker didn't believe her. Seeing the clothes soaked in monster blood and the hole in her shirt exposing her scarred abdomen, she decided not to ask. She knew that if she investigated further she could get into trouble.
What could she, as an ordinary worker, do? Against a hunter who was much stronger than normal people, it was risky and unnecessary.
Having no other choice, she began to count the mana stones in the basket silently, with a married expression. Also, I feel the intense stares of Erik and Violet.
"By the way, what are we doing tomorrow?"
Violet asked.
"Hmm... Tomorrow we're going to a dungeon. Now that we're D-rank, hunting should be a lot easier."
Erik replied.
"But wouldn't it raise suspicion if we were constantly clearing dungeons?"
"Yes, but that's what we have to do if we want to become stronger."
Erik shrugged. It was either that or waiting for death to come for them.
"Phew... right I have nothing else to do but do that, to avoid making me die miserably."
Violet sighed, placing her hand on her forehead, she's getting a headache from this situation.
'Well, it was killing those sons of bitches, or they didn't kill us.'
Despite not regretting that Erik had killed those three, what doesn't let her be calm, is what Richard said, before being decapitated.
'But, there is also the possibility that what he said is a lie to get out alive'.
'Well, now I just have to concentrate on getting stronger.'
Violet as she's not sure if it's true or not, that Richard's father is the president of the Luminis guild. So she has nothing left but to get stronger.
"And why don't we join a guild and then we'll be safe?"
Violet asked, having this sudden thought.
"Are you listening to yourself, didn't you say that he is the president of an emerging guild, while we are simply unknown D-rank hunters, do you think those guilds will back us, don't let nerves cloud your judgment?"
Erik said with a neutral expression, knowing full well that he couldn't trust anyone but themselves now. Since they are in the same boat.
"... It's true, what you say."
Violet nodded in agreement sighing. It seems that her nerves are playing against her.
But there is something she still doesn't understand.
'How can he be so calm, even though we have a whole clan as enemies'.
If it were a bet, it would be 99.9% to lose and only 0.1% to win.
But at that moment came the memories of Erik, recovering from nothing, from a completely certain death.
He was missing an arm and had a hole in the center of his body!
Although this increased his chances a little, it was still not entirely certain that he would survive.
"That's it, it's all accounted for. Follow me this way to give you your account."
The worker spoke with a tired expression after counting 150 E-rank mana stones.
"How much do E-rank mana stones sell for?"
"With all and taxes, they normally sell for 26.2 dollars."
Erik's eyes sparkled when he heard the value of an E-rank mana stone.
So, in one afternoon, they had earned approximately 3,000 dollars.
He had never made so much money before, now he realized why the hunters lived so well and how important the materials in the dungeons were.
'If I keep this up, I can buy an apartment of my own.'
Erik sees it possible that if he keeps going like this it won't be an impossible dream to buy an apartment, because the place where he lives isn't the best in the world either.
The worker, after finishing filling out the invoice, said to him:
"Would you prefer the money or would you prefer us to transfer it to your bank account?".
"Please transfer to the bank account."
"Could you please provide me with your information?"
Erik handed over the information. Shortly thereafter he received a notification on his phone.
He checked it and saw that the money had arrived in his account: $3,930. This brought a big smile to his face.
He had never had so much money in his account before. Now he felt that everything he had suffered was worth it to see his bank account.
He walked out of the place along with Violet.
"Could you give me your account number to make the transfer?"
Erik said with a smile, he was in a good mood because of the money he had earned that day.
"Sure, my account number is ******."
Erik wrote down the number and transferred $1965, which was half of the total amount.
After checking that the money had arrived, Violet said:
"I'll give you a ride home."
"Sure."
Erik didn't hesitate, put on his helmet, and got on the motorcycle with a smile, he now had a lot of money for the first time.
***
After a long while, Violet arrived at the place where Erik had told her he lived.
Erik got off and handed the helmet to Violet.
"Thank you."
"I didn't expect you to live in such a bad place."
Violet commented surprised to see where he lives.
"Well, I've been an orphan for as long as I can remember. It's a miracle I don't live on the street."
Erik shrugged his shoulders. He wasn't offended by what she said, because it was true.
What she said was completely true.
"Why don't you come live with me?"
Violet suggested, not intending to offend him since she meant it from her heart.
"Are you sure?"
Erik hesitated. If she was willing, he wasn't going to refuse. He wouldn't let his pathetic pride keep him in this place that wasn't very good.
But he's forgetting something rather important: every time he didn't complete a mission, he was transported to a random location.
How would you explain this to Violet?
"Of course I'm sure. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have suggested it to you."
Violet looked at him seriously and her eyes glittered as if she wasn't lying.
"Then it's no problem. I'll see you again tomorrow."
"Okay, text me to arrange where to meet before we go to the dungeons."
Violet said as she walked away.
Erik walked through the door of his old apartment with a smile, ready to live his last night in that place.
As he entered, he plopped down on the bed and pulled the sword out of inventory, he looked at the small window appearing in front of the sword.
[Vortex of the night]
Description: It is a sword of dark and mysterious beauty. Its blade, razor-sharp, seems to be made of an unknown material, dark as midnight, but with a subtle glow of violet hues.
Features:
- Curse of the Eternal Night
- Locked
- Locked.
When he finished seeing the description, a big smile was drawn on his lips, he had achieved something pretty good. And he also pulled out the spear, at the moment he did so a window appeared.
Tti-ring.
[The requirements for the #$%$@# spear to devour the sword "Vortex of the Night" have been met]
[Would you like to confirm?] (Y/N).
"What the hell?!"
Erik's eyes widened like saucers at this, unable to hide his surprise.
He sighed to calm his emotions and hit 'Confirm'.
When he confirmed, the spear began to glow brightly, and loud metal sounds began to be heard.
"What the fuck is he doing can't you see I have to get up early tomorrow!"
"Goddamn it! Who's the son of a bitch with the goddamn noise!"
"Stop the fucking noise!"
The nearby neighbors began shouting angrily and cursing at the loud sound of metal being produced in Erik's apartment.
After a while, the sounds of the brass ceased, and silence came again.
Tti-ring.
[Spear of the #$%$@# has successfully devoured the sword Vortex of the night]
[Lance of the #$%$@#]
Status: Temporarily sealed
Description: Locked
- Shapeshifting(New): Can shapeshift at will, weapons that have been devoured and use the characteristics of the devoured weapon.
"Wow, this is amazing."
Erik mounted a big smile, looked at the spear, and with just his intention the spear changed shape to that of a sword and vice versa.
"Hahahaha~ I just hit the jackpot with this spear."
Just a laugh, putting the spear away in the inventory.
"Uaaah..."
He let out a long yawn and closed all the windows. Soon after he fell asleep with a satisfied expression on his face.
...
