Countless distraught expressions gazed back at me.
I realised that I was the reason they were afraid to even look me in the eye, so a wave of guilt washed over me. I can't blame them for thinking I was come to break terrible news to them; after all, my last speech was meant to elucidate the penalties that would be implemented.
"Today I stand before you to apologise."
A few gasps were heard, and while some of the wolves were gaping openly at me, others didn't seem to be convinced just yet.
Was my desire to apologise really so ridiculous?
"This last week opened my eyes to many of my flaws, and accepting responsibility when things go wrong is a crucial component of being a strong leader. I'm prepared to take full responsibility for my transgressions and make every effort to make things right. I think the first step would be to sincerely apologise to each and every one of you."
I paused to see how they were responding.
