ASSLYNN
I could not have spoken anything when Alrik's mother appeared in my field of vision.
A heart-shaped face, upturned nose, chocolate brown curls, and a set of grey irises that looked a lot gentler than the ones I was used to peering into were all recognisable features.
With a wounded smile, she softly said, "Hello, dear," her eyes tracing the chains on my arms.
I said, "Hello, Mrs. Kuznetsov," clearing my throat. I realise this isn't the best situation.
"I am truly sorry," she stumbled out.
Startled by her heartfelt apologies, I blinked once, then again. "Pardon?"
"I am ashamed of the position my son has put you in," she said, a frown on her face as she shook her head and looked at her feet. I never imagined that he would abuse his partner like this in my lifetime."
