ASSLYNN
"He still hasn't spoken to you, has he?"
"Well, he grunted when I wished him good morning today, so that's progress."
With a frozen gait, Reece turned to face me. I shrugged and held up my palms, saying, "It really is progress." It has been three days and he has said nothing in response to anything I have mentioned. He at least gave me a grunt to indicate that he heard."
"Just be aware that you will be treated like a grunt for a while. His rage hasn't entirely subsided yet," she remarked as she turned to walk away. "And is there a reason why you wanted to visit the third section?"
"I wanted to check on Nolan," I murmured, hiding my nose as the stench of dried blood and vomit began to tickle my nostrils. I'm still really upset about his penalty."
She patted my back reassuringly and added, "He'll be out of those chains before you know it. Plus, his whip lashes would have healed by now so I'm sure he isn't in as much pain as before."
