JASLYNN
I gasped and yelled, "Alrik, faster."
This is the fastest I can go without making you hurt. "Who gives a damn if I'm hurt? We-"
We need to get there, I said after taking a time to breathe.
by noon, so row more quickly. My grandma, who is perhaps 800 years old, moves more quickly than you do.
"Has anyone ever told you that you are extremely bossy?" Alrik snapped out of his rowing and turned to face me with a frown.
"Mr. Refll-my-coffee, that's a little rich coming from you." He took the wise choice to remain mute and resumed his rowing in silence. He never once failed to remind me that he had a cocky side that I did not like, even though we spent a lot of time touching each other. He appeared to have been raised with the idea that everyone would
labour for him, he wouldn't be required to repay the favour.
He commanded his pack with an iron fist, as I could already tell from his interactions with his pack warriors, and from what Reece had previously told me and from what I already knew, he had little patience with anyone who disobeyed him.
His way or the road to your own personal hell was the choice. "Why do you keep gazing at me? Even though I think I look good, you shouldn't treat me like a piece of meat by staring at me. His voice carried humour, which I could hear.
We're in the middle of nowhere, I snorted loudly. What should I be looking at?
"The seagull, the water, the sky, the clouds"
A splash of white liquid and some dubious grey mushy stuff dropped on his shoulder right after he mentioned the seagull.
Before I realised what had happened, we were both in shock. "Oh my god, Alrik!" I exclaimed.
"That disgusting bird"
"The seagull means we're getting close to land!" I yelled, joyfully waving at the squawking seagull in the park like a crazed person.
Alrik turned his head once again in my way, letting me see the angry expression on his face.
You just used me as a urinal in public, and your only concern is that we are getting close to land? Through clenched teeth, he let out a growl.
I would have laughed at the whole thing if I wasn't so thrilled to be so close to the island. A small bird peed and pooped on the huge, terrible, and oppressive Alpha.
He also reacted in an unexpectedly funny way; he was able to endure having his enemy's blood and intestines all over him, but a little bird poop on his shoulder made him angry.
I answered, hardly controlling the impulse to chuckle, "Don't worry, Alrik. I'm sure the seagull was just claiming his or her territory."
He said, his eyes narrowing, "That's what dogs do."
"You are, I mean," He jumped up, ripping off his shirt, and the small sheen of sweat that coated his chest caused his bronze skin to shimmer in the sunlight as I left.
I had never seen him without a shirt before, and I was speechless.
He wasn't flawless, and I adored how his flaws might heighten his allure in my eyes.
A lot of guys were self-conscious about their war scars, both internally and visibly, just like women were about stretch marks. They were unaware that ladies adored their scars and that the real definition of strength was not six packs, but rather the scars that covered their bodies and revealed the tales of the fights they had won and left behind.
And guys instantly became more alluring when they were proud enough to display those scars, which was the appropriate adjective for Alrik.
He had a few light scars on his arms and chest, and I could finally make out the intriguing tattoo on his neck. It appeared to be a tribal pattern without any obvious parts meant to grab attention. I felt a strange yearning to brush my fingers over every curve of the tattoo because it was delicate but gorgeous.
Do you want me to urinate all over you?
I was staring at him when he said something vulgar, "I beg your pardon?"
He was gingerly stepping out from under his seat so as not to shake the boat too much. "You implied that I am a dog. I thus assume that you prefer golden showers than markings.
He stooped and leant forwards to get his luggage from behind me as he filled the tiny area meant for my feet.
As his breath caressed the crook of my neck, I rolled my eyes and muttered, "I'm fne with any other shower but that one."
A different shower.
Alrik stopped moving behind me as the significance of my words reverberated in my thoughts and my cheeks began to flame.
Although it wasn't a lie, I shouldn't have been so direct.
I gently cleared my throat in an effort to remove the obvious tension in the room. Alrik drew back and regarded me with dark, inquisitive eyes. I casually blinked back at him, pretending that I hadn't just said that I would soon be taking a shower.
He gripped my lower lip between his thumb and index finger, his hand coming into view. He softly tugged at my lip and almost leant his forehead against mine, which caused my eyes to widen.
He said huskily, "You need to watch that mouth of yours before you get exactly what you ask for," and then loosened his hold on my lip.
You need to stop distracting me, I said as I pushed his chest aside me. We keep acting like horny rabbits despite the fact that we are on a crucial mission to save the world.
I quickly dismissed him, and he arched an eyebrow before returning to his seat. I took a long breath.
At least until we were off the island, we needed to regain control of ourselves.
