Chapter 37 - CP: 37 - Maeze

After a short break, I had prepared for a journey for food. Except for a few slaves I chose, I left about 20 slaves behind.

We started our journey towards the nearby large city. The name of the city we were heading to was Maeze.

Compared to other cities and settlements around, it was a more advanced, vibrant, and larger place. It served as a meeting point for traders and hunters.

Hunters often sold things they considered valuable or precious here for a high amount of money.

Today, my goal was just to blend in with humans. The reason I chose Maeze was quite simple. That reason was Erka. She should probably have settled in Maeze by now.

After a few hours of travel, everyone had dispersed to enter the city one by one. I would communicate with the others again inside the city.

The city gates were protected by massive walls. What were these tall walls built for? I began to wonder about the answer to this question.

As usual, we entered by paying a certain fee at the entrance. But this time, they asked for something extra.

"Please place your hand on this sphere."

The guard, who looked like a wizard, was showing me a sphere. When I looked at the sphere, I didn't feel anything strange.

I was trying to understand what the sphere was for. But probably due to my astonishment, the guard, who looked like a wizard, started speaking.

"This is a simple identity generator. It's a device necessary for us to identify people entering or leaving the city. Otherwise, you cannot enter."

The guard finished speaking with a robotic tone.

"No problem. I'm just seeing something like this for the first time. It's my first visit to such a large city."

I slowly placed my hand on the top of the sphere. The sphere seemed to vacuum my energy.

"Thank you for your cooperation. Welcome to Maeze."

After passing the checkpoint, I had finally entered the city. The streets of the city were made of stone. It was impossible to find mud or puddles on the streets.

Maeze seemed to be a highly developed city in this regard. The city planning looked quite nice. The buildings were of the same colors and had the same number of floors.

The streets looked more lively.

"Sir!"
