It was recess time the next day in school and it was to me, a good time to do some soul hunting. I knew I should be expecting visitors or should I say those awaiting counselling.
I was about to leave my class when Segun and a lady appeared at the door. I knew my lunch had to wait, after all, I'm used to fasting these days.
"Can we borrow a few minutes of your time?" He asked.
"Of course! Did you get the baptism last night?"
"That's why I'm here, I didn't get it and I'm here to explain what happened after our conversation."
I was so frustrated with this guy that I wanted to slap him so badly. What was the issue this time?
"Alright, go ahead!" I said calmly.
Daddy you'll help me to remain calm ooo. This guy is seriously getting on my nerves.
"So after the phone conversation....."
"You mean after you finished Kayla's airtime?"
He smiled and shook his head.
"I guess I'm owing her for my not getting baptized," he said with a warm smile.
I smiled back, although I would love to call mine a facade.
"Oh! By the way, this is Ella! She told me she wants the baptism of the Holy Ghost as well, so I brought her along with me."
"Oh! Nice to meet you Ella! I love the name. I already have a sister by the name Ella, so it's beautiful having a duo."
"Thank you ma!" She said smiling.
"So, back to you Mr Adebayo Segun. What happened again that didn't make you get baptized?"
"Yes! Immediately the call ended abruptly, I started praying for the baptism. But the prayers were not flowing. I prayed but I wasn't connecting to heaven. It was as if I was talking to myself. As if my prayers were not crossing the roof. I tried to force the prayers, but there was no connection. So I had to stop and go back to bed.
I also woke up this morning to have my personal devotion with God. When I tried to pray, there was still no connection. The prayers refused to flow. I was praying but it wasn't connecting. You know what I'm talking about? It was as if I was talking to myself!
Please what can I do in a situation like this? What can be done when you try to pray and the prayer is not connecting?"
"Daddy is this the right time to beat this guy? Please Daddy, give me just 5 minutes to deal with him."
"JULIET, DON'T FORGET THAT IN YOUR JOURNEY WITH GOD, YOU WILL MEET BABY CHRISTIANS. SO BEAT THEM VERY WELL AND KILL THEM FOR ME. THANK YOU!"
"Haaaa! Daddy that's not what I'm trying to say. I'm just saying that this guy is a...is a..."
"IS A WHAT?"
"Is a big baby!"
"OKAY! CRITICIZE MY BOY VERY WELL FOR ME. BY THE TIME YOU ARE THROUGH, MAKE SURE YOU TEACH HIM VERY WELL. INFACT, START TELLING ME WHAT TO DO."
I looked at Segun and seriously admired how daddy was rescuing me from my hands. Left alone, I would have give him the beating of his life.
"Mr Segun Adebayo! Can I ask you a question?"
"Yes!"
"Where were you flowing to?"
"I don't understand. I said I was praying but the prayers were not flowing.
"You mean your prayers usually flow?"
"No I mean, it felt as if the prayer was not connecting. I don't know if you understand what I'm trying to say. Sometimes when you pray, there's this connection you get. I don't know if you understand what I'm talking about?"
"No I don't. In fact, the only thing I am understanding right now is how I'm going to give you a slap across the cheek."
"Haaaaaaaa! What have I done?"
"Why are you so bent on buying the devil's lies?"
"But my prayers were not connecting."
"Shut up! What nonsense connection are you talking about?"
"Are you saying we must pray even when our prayers are not connecting? Are you saying we are going to waste our time to pray when the prayer is not flowing to God?"
"What kind of deception from the pit of hell is this? Where in the Bible is it written pray when your prayer is connecting? Please I'm here to find out where you read that your particular bible verse. I want to understand how to be connecting prayers?"
"How to explain it but I started feeling...."
"What nonsense feeling is that? Please explain the feeling I am yet to understand the nonsense feeling you are talking about. You open your mouth to pray then you begin to feel the prayer is not connecting to God, is that what you're trying to say?"
"Exactly! Now you get it!"
"Oh! So when you pray you begin to feel the prayer is not connecting to God? Just listen to yourself? What happened to your bible? Did your Bible go on holiday? What did your bible teach you about prayer? Did the bible teach you that you should pray when the prayer is connecting?"
"No ma!"
"So where is this doctrine from the pit of Hell coming from? I am praying and my prayer is not flowing. I am praying and I have to stop the prayer because I was not connecting. What nonsense!"
"I'm sorry ma!"
"The bible says the just live by faith. Believe God is hearing your prayers or you are waiting for one feeling to confirm it? Wait what happened to faith? What happened to you believing that every time I pray my father in heaven hears me? You have abandoned faith to dwell on I am connecting and I am not connecting.
Chai! Who did this to you?"
"I am so sorry ma! I never knew the enemy was the one deceiving me. I thought I was not connecting that's why I stopped the prayers. I didn't know I was falling for the trap of the devil."
"Listen to me carefully, the devil hates prayer. What did I say?"
"The devil hates prayer," he answered.
"So the devil is seriously in the business of doing whatever he can to ensure nobody prays. So if the only way you can stop you from praying is to make you believe that your prayer is unheard because it's not connecting, then he would gladly do so.
So I have to ask you again. When you pray, do you believe God hears you, or you want your feelings to confirm that you are connected?"
"I am so sorry! I believe that god hears me."
"That is enough. That is exactly your response to the devil. Whenever you pray and it's as if the heavens are closed. I so much love that statement as if. I mean I love that word called as if. If you understand english very well, you know that as if means it's not true.
Take for example. I am feeling pains in my stomach because I'm fasting. Then I begin to use words like, I'm going to die. My body and my eyes are turning me and it is as if I am going to die. Me saying it is as if I am going to die, does that mean I will die?"
"No! You won't!"
"Meaning I am allowing my emotions or feelings to lead me, based on false assumptions. That's exactly what as if means. It makes you assume certain things and take decisions based on assumptions.
So you begin to assume God is not hearing you. You begin to assume you are talking to yourself. You begin to assume that God Is Not plugging the socket of heaven to your spirit. That the electricity of heaven has cut off. This is nothing but lies from the pit of Hell. The Bible made it clear in the book of Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
And I also found it in my Bible that I was instructed by God's word to pray without ceasing. So where is this doctrine of connection and flowing coming from?
Indeed, Satan is a deceiver. May he never deceive anyone of you in Jesus name!"
"Amen!" They both chorused.
"So about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, can we go again?"
"You mean here?"
"Where are you expecting us to do it? Here of course!"
"Like right now?"
"Of course!"
"There are so many people around."
"Yes!"
"Won't that be a distraction?"
"Mr Segun Adebayo, do you want the baptism of the Holy Ghost or not?"
"Yes I do!"
"Then go on your knees. In fact, don't kneel down. I want you to remain seated while you get the baptism. So you won't say you didn't get the baptism because of your environment.
Now remember what I taught you. Begin to ask God and begin to listen to the utterance he will give you as you pray. This is the practical aspect. Go ahead! Two of you ask for the baptism."
They clasped their hands together and began to whisper in prayers. Prayers continue for up to what look like 5 minutes and yet nothing happened.
I was almost concluding the atmosphere was responsible for the experience, when Ella burst in tongues
"Segun what are you waiting for? Get this thing once and for all!" I spoke aloud.
Segun continued whispering. I had to lean close to him and ask what was going on.
"I can't hear anything!"
"You can pay attention!
"I'm the one making it up. I'm just fooling myself and formulating the words. I'm feeling like this is not real!"
"Haaaaaaaa Jesus! Help me not to break his head!" I said inwardly.
"But we talked about it just now. This is a business of faith not feeling. Stop bringing feeling into this equation. We are dealing with believing not emotions. Whatever is happening to you you must believe it's God at work. You need to believe this is God and not you. The Bible says a man cannot receive anything on earth except it is being given to him from above.
I need you to believe! Segun, is that too much to ask?"
"No ma! I believe!"
"Say it again!"
"I believe!"
"Now open your mouth and allow the Spirit of God to fill it."
He opened his mouth and said nothing. He looked like someone who had something to say, but paused in his tracks.
"What happened?"
"I'm scared! I don't think I can do this!"
"Haaaaaaaa! Jesus! Help me to be patient with this your baby boy!"
I believe it was God that helped me maintain my cool.
"Segun you can do it! Please say these words, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
"Say it again!"
He spoke those words again and with that, opened his mouth. Tongues came out in capital letters.
I felt like collapsing on the ground. When you won a competition and you're so excited that the only way you can express your excitement is to faint? That's exactly what I'm feeling right now.
Thank you Jesus! Thank you for helping me to be patient! Thank you for helping me not to slap this guy.
I was still thanking God in my heart when Segun began to speak in tongues violently. He became so loud that he was drawing too much attention. He fell off the seat to the ground while he spoke. I told some of the boys around to help me drag him from underneath the table.
The boys grabbed him and instantly, they started speaking in tongues and fell down. We had 4 people blasting in tongues on the floor. Two guys decided to drag Segun out from underneath the table. Immediately they touched Segun, they fell down and started speaking in tongues.
"My God! What is this?"
Soon recess was over and students were coming into the class. The class was a mess as they spoke in tongues and scattered everywhere.
A girl tapped Segun with the intention of telling him to stop. Immediately she touched him she screamed and fell down, speaking in tongues.
Now it was clear to everyone that if you don't want to be slain under the anointing, don't touch Segun.
"Daddy what's going on? I have never seen this kind of manifestation of the spirit before?"
"SEGUN IS A TRANSMITTER. HE HAS THE DUPLICATING POWER IN HIM. THIS IS THE REASON WHY THE ENEMY HAS BEEN FIGHTING HIS BAPTISM FOR SO LONG. BECAUSE IS A SPIRITUAL TRANSMITTER.
CAN YOU SEE THE REASON WHY I HAD TO ME TO MAKE YOU PATIENT WITH MY BABY BOY?"
"Daddy will buy me Holandia yoghurt. This your baby boy can stress somebody!"

I believe this is a message to some of you. Stop using your feelings to create assumptions about God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Whatever you are feeling has no authenticity when placed side-by-side with the word of God. If God says that hear's prayers, then it's left for you to believe him.
If you choose to believe your feelings over the word of God, you're on your own.
