"Well, well, mother and daughter have the same translator, huh?" Vincent Wolf muttered in his heart.
"So stingy, not even willing to buy one with tonal emotion. This kind of translator makes cursing dull. Which is not like the one Old Lizard has. Even if you don't know the words, you can tell if he's cursing or being sarcastic."
A two-meter-long Ice White Fox, with a pale blue coat of fur and a swirl of shallow mist, quickly ran to Vincent Wolf, looking down at him from a higher position.
"Aunt Nora, you're slandering me. When did I ever end things abruptly, be fickle and indecisive, give up easily, disappoint, and know when to back off?" Vincent Wolf stood there, speaking with grievance.
"Huh?" Nora Gates didn't react for a moment, standing there dumbfounded. She had just wanted to curse at him but forgot how to do it.
"Forget it. Since you're my elder, I won't hold you accountable for slandering me. Where's Flora Gates? I have a big treasure for her, so let her come to meet me quickly. If not, you'll suffer the consequences."
Vincent Wolf was still full of himself, not realizing he had actually come to apologize.
"You little rascal, how dare you be so arrogant? Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you have that old dragon on your side. He's just got a trace of Dragon Bloodline, that's all. What could he do if I beat you up today?" Aunt Nora was furious.
"What do you think? A retainer should die for his lord's insult. If I'm humiliated now, do you think my Dragon Town would let you off the hook?" Vincent Wolf remained confident.
"Even if I can't beat him, I could hide here. A high-level commander dares to cause trouble?" Aunt Nora scoffed.
"Even if Dragon Town wouldn't dare, what about his parents and relatives? He's got a Dragon Bloodline, and his ancestors were dragons. If Dragon Town invited the ancestors out, this small Los Angeles Breeding House would be gone." Vincent Wolf continued to bluff.
"..." Aunt Nora was silent. She didn't believe a word Vincent Wolf said, but just for beating up this kid once, she would have to live in fear for god knows how many days to come. It wasn't worth it.
Heaven have mercy. She was just a small Ice White Fox from the Middle Fox Tribe. Her daughter, the Three-Tailed Fox, was born after a mutation from mating with a Flame Fox for breeding purposes.
With no family power or background, the mother and daughter struggled to survive in this small Breeding House, and now they were being bullied by the younger generation. It was heartbreaking to see and hear of it.
She felt that her fox life was almost over, and she didn't want to live anymore.
Suddenly, Aunt Nora shook her huge fox's body, and when she turned around, she saw Vincent Wolf holding and stroking her fluffy tail.
"What are you staring at? Can't I just borrow it to cool off a bit?" Vincent Wolf snapped angrily.
Aunt Nora looked up to the heavens with tears streaming down her face. She suddenly pulled her tail out of Vincent Wolf's embrace and then activated a skill to run away even faster than when she arrived.
"I will have my revenge, wuu wuu wuu~"
"Tell me where Flora Gates is first!"
"I don't care.ヽ(`Д´)ノ"
Watching the Ice White Fox run away without a trace, Vincent Wolf slumped to the ground, pinching his trembling thigh.
"I finally fooled that stupid fox away. If she hadn't left, my cover would have been blown."
Vincent Wolf started complaining about Dragon Town.
"That Old Lizard just wanted me to come here and get beaten up. Thank god I was smart and quick enough to react. Otherwise, with that silly fox's attitude, I would have been bedridden for a week."
After rubbing his scared and trembling thigh, he looked at the vast plain before him, lost in thought.
"Am I supposed to find a fox that's not even as tall as my knee in this huge area?"
That was a problem.
...
"Hi, dear Miss Flora Gates!" Vincent Wolf greeted warmly, with a smile as bright as the sun.
After the Ice White Fox left, Vincent Wolf managed to calm down the frightened little foxes around him. Then, using his experience of animal language when he transformed into a pet beast in the Simulation, he gestured for a while before making them understand that he was entrusted by the Ice White Fox to find Flora Gates.
With the help of a group of adorable and helpful little foxes, Vincent Wolf finally met Flora Gates.
"What are you doing here? You're not welcome!" Flora Gates looked at Vincent Wolf vigilantly, with the three tails behind her standing up.
"I'm sorry, I thought we had become good friends after spending so much time together. It seems I was being presumptuous."
Vincent Wolf sat down on the ground, hugged his knees, lowered his head, made a sad face, and tried to squeeze out a few tears.
The little foxes around him comforted Vincent Wolf, making a few whimpers from time to time.
"What friends? You abandoned me already!" Flora Gates looked at the loneliness around her and said uneasily.
"Indeed, I abandoned you. Ah, if it weren't for those damned capitalist aristocrats, how could I have...never mind, I'll just go." Vincent Wolf acted heartbroken.
He slowly got up and turned around. Just then, he heard an anxious voice from Flora Gates.
"How come? Someone threatened you?"
Vincent Wolf's mouth curled up, but as he turned back, his expression was that of grief and sadness.
"Yeah, if it's just a threat to me, it's nothing. I can face it alone. Even if I were to be buried in cement, I wouldn't compromise."
As Vincent Wolf spoke, his expression was firm, but in the blink of an eye, he changed back to that miserable look and continued:
"But my family has elderly pet beasts. I've been an orphan since I was a child, and it's all thanks to the hard work of old pet beasts that I grew up. I can't let them suffer in their old age!"
"Besides..." At this point, Vincent Wolf couldn't say anything further due to his sobs.
"Besides what?" Flora Gates cooperated with Vincent Wolf at the right moment.
"Besides, he also threatened to hurt you if I don't comply! With our deep bond, how could I put you in danger?"
Vincent Wolf wiped away his tears, gently embraced Flora Gates, and lovingly stroked her white, smooth back and tail.
In Flora Gates' inexperienced heart, Vincent Wolf's remorse for misunderstanding, her own guilt, and her newfound admiration for Vincent Wolf's noble character filled her. The overwhelming emotions enveloped the three-tailed fox's mind, leaving her at a loss.
Vincent Wolf let go of Flora Gates. While she was not paying attention, he took a delicate gift box from the Space Bracelet and gently placed it in front of her.
"What's this?" Flora Gates asked, looking at the gift box.
"Actually, I came to apologize to you this time." Vincent Wolf signaled Flora Gates to open it.
"I did such a treacherous thing, and now I don't even expect your forgiveness. I just hope to make some compensation. Please don't refuse, or else I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life!"
