Jun stared at the bag in his hand, a distant familiarity crossing his face. I partially leaned in and asked quietly, "Have you taken pills like these before?"
He nodded, his voice low. "Yes. When I was younger, they made me take a lot of them. So many, my body eventually became numb to it. But I could handle it because of my qi. I was just told that my spirit was pure enough to consume high-grade pills without much problem."
I blinked, taken aback thinking to myself, "That's… impressive."
I remember thinking about how difficult it must have been for him to digest the pills every time until he became 'numb' to it. I also wondered how many pills it would have taken for him to reach that stage. It was chilling to think about what kind of mother would do this to her son.
I asked him how the pill tasted and Jun smirked slightly, though he kept his expression neutral. "This one's better than most others... but don't worry too much."
