Chapter 37 - Enchanted Woodlands [Pt 6]

As I moved further into the ruins, the dim light revealed a hidden crater filled with a bunch of glowing fruits.

They seemed to invite me with their magical charm, and my stomach growled, urging me to eat from the forest's offerings.

Speaking to myself, I quietly said, "Finding food is the next challenge, and luckily, this ruin is created in between forests."

I carefully picked a brightly coloured, apple-like fruit.

Taking a cautious bite, the taste was a mix of sweetness and a hint of something exotic, fitting well with the mystical essence of the woodland.

"Eating after fighting tiring battles is just relaxing," I said to myself, enjoying each bite while leaning against a moss-covered pillar.

The magical energy in the fruit made me feel more alive, relieving the tiredness that had settled into my bones.

The Ruin appeared to respond, with the walls' glow softening as I contentedly ate.

After finishing the satisfying meal, a calm feeling surrounded me.

I discovered a quiet spot with soft moss to rest, letting the forest's magic continue its work.

Leaning against cool stones, I sighed in relief, the old wooden stick beside me like a trusted companion.

Closing my eyes, a gentle dialogue unfolded in my mind, thinking about the delicate balance among the symbols, the forest, and my existence.

"I should stay cautious as I don't know what lies ahead," I said to myself, absorbing the ruin's understanding.

The rhythmic sounds of the forest acted like a lullaby, calming my senses.

My thoughts wandered through the mysteries I'd encountered, the symbols, and the ancient knowledge woven into the Enchanted Woodlands.

Time passed in a peaceful haze, and upon opening my eyes, I felt a renewed energy coursing through my body.

Speaking softly to myself, I said, "Cautious and patience — these are the keys to unlocking the secrets of this ancient woodland."

With a refreshed sense of purpose, I stood up from my mossy sanctuary, relying on the old wooden stick for support.

Continuing through the haunting ruins, time twisted and elongated, my surroundings remaining eerily unchanged. A disquiet settled within as the realization struck – I was trapped in a loop.

Amidst my confusion, a spectral voice, ancient and resonant, pierced the air. "Wanderer," it addressed, "you tread where time follows an ancient rhythm."

Startled, I turned, revealing a shadowy figure materializing from the ruins. "I am Deadra, a guardian spirit of this forest," it declared.

Panic gripped me as Deadra's words unfolded, exposing its malevolent nature.

I was taken aback, fear knotting my stomach. The guardian spirit hinted at power beyond my understanding, and worry crept in about the consequences.

"My Leg, "

Frantically, I thought of my vulnerable leg, the old injury heightened my concern. I envisioned Deadra, a formidable guardian, potentially ending my quest.

In memories from the ruins, I glimpsed the trio of spirits, guardians of the woodland. Deadra, dominant and powerful, radiated strength.

These spirits, bound by an ancient duty, protected the forest.

Fear gripped me as I grappled with the revelation.

The Enchanted Woodlands held not only benevolent magic but guardians capable of malevolence for those disturbing the balance.

"Why are you here?" Deadra questioned.

Pondering my next move, I recognized this ancient realm demanded more than caution.

As Deadra's voice echoed, I steeled myself, hand gripping a worn wooden stick for support.

'What should I say?, what should I do? One mistake and I am dead, fuck, just speak, say anything, you bitch. '

And before I could even understand, I said something horrendous.

"To fuck you. " (Alex)

"What?? " (Deadra)

'What the hell did I say? I have to manage it but how, oh yeah I can say that!! ' (Alex)

"Sorry sir!! I'm here to learn and understand the mysteries of this forest, being careful not to upset the special balance of this magical place," I said, my voice calm even though things felt a bit tense.

Deadra's eyes glowed in a really strange way, and a strong wind blew through the old broken buildings. "Knowing things can be good and bad, Wanderer. It can make things clearer or cause problems. Your being here messes up the peaceful way we take care of things."

Right then, I saw that what I was doing had bigger effects than just exploring.

The old spirits were protecting not just the world we can see but also the smart ideas that make up the Enchanted Woodlands.

"I want things to be peaceful, not messed up. Can I show you that's what I mean?" I asked, looking right at Deadra.

The guardian spirit took a moment, its shape flickering like a faraway flame. "Your actions, not your words, tell who you really are. The forest will test you, and whatever you choose will be a big part of how this place feels."

After saying those tricky words, Deadra disappeared into the air, and I was left alone in the spooky old ruins.

The air got heavy with the feeling that something important was about to happen as the forest seemed to wake up, its old magic throbbing around me.

The way forward got blurry, and everything around me started looking like a strange dream.

The buildings that I used to recognize now seemed to change shape, testing how well I could understand what was real and what wasn't.

As I walked through the magical tests, ghostly voices whispered around me, creating a spooky melody of the unseen.

The figures showed up like see-through shapes, flickering with an attitude of being too sure of themselves.

"Who are you all?" I asked, my voice bouncing through the dreamy place.

"We are spirits and our names are Embera, Torrentia, and Zephyr," they said, sounding a bit too full of themselves.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, being careful with their kind of scary vibe.

"Our boss, Deadra, told us to test you," they grinned, showing they had not-so-nice plans.

Staying calm, I told the spirits that I couldn't fight because my leg was hurt. Even though I explained, they acted like they didn't care and gave me a small bottle, telling me to drink it for a quick fix.

Feeling unsure and really wanting it to work, I thought for a moment before deciding to do what they said.

As I drank the potion, I wasn't sure if it would really help.

To my surprise, the potion worked fast. It seemed like magic as it went through my injured leg.

Right away, the pain went away, and my leg felt better like it was never hurt. I felt thankful and amazed at how well the special potion worked.

Feeling stronger, I faced the first spirit, Zephyr, like a soft breeze. "Get ready, Wanderer. You've got ten seconds before the big challenge," it said, sounding challenging and echoing in the dreamy place.

As they counted down, my mind raced. The spirits, their big attitudes, the magic potion – it was all like a big puzzle of tests. I felt sure, curious, and a bit worried about what might come next.

"Ten... Nine... Eight..." They started counting, their voices sounding kinda strange.

In those big moments, I thought about what the forest wanted from me. Was it about how strong I am or how smart I can be, or something else from that old rhythm Deadra talked about?

"Seven... Six... Five..." The counting went on, and I felt a mix of being excited and a bit scared in the dreamy place.

The spirits looked at me like they were trying to figure me out. As they counted down, I got ready for whatever the Enchanted Woodlands wanted to throw at me.

"Four... Three... Two..." Their voices echoed, and I felt a burst of energy.

"One..." Everything got really quiet, and it felt like the forest was holding its breath.

Then, in the quiet after that, Zephyr's voice stayed, saying, "Now, Wanderer, show us who you really are."

The dreamy place changed, and the air felt different, like something not from this world. The scene turned into a mix of wild and strange visions, leaving me standing at the edge of a big challenge that was more than just what I could touch and see.
