--------------

Looking out into the bright light outside, Chikao looks at the village-city kind of place once again, this time with a little more familiarity. Unlike the first time, Chikao was more accustomed to the people and surrounding area.

[You're still in the middle of the doorway]

Not responding immediately while relaxing his face into a neutral face, Chikao started to walk to the left side of the building. Arriving at the corner he then tried to respond to the annoying blue system that was blowing his face up with one-word screens. Moving slightly behind a pole so that it looked a little less obvious he was talking to someone, he then responded.

"Annoying bastard," Chikao grumbled while looking at the numerous screens that started to appear even more than before.

[I'm not that annoying] The blue screen grew brighter and darker over and over resulting in Chikao rolling his eyes and placing another 'Are you fucking kidding me' on his face as per usual.

'And I thought you were supposed to be my  helpful guide through this world of fantasy.' Chikao emphasized the word helpful due to the helpful comments that the system supplied practically the second that Chikao knew them.

[And I thought you were supposed to be the extremely  smart detective]

Chikao raised an eyebrow reading the blue screen, looking quite confused.

'What does that have to do with you being a very  helpful guide?'

[As a  smart  detective, you should've already figured out I was too lazy to help you and too much of an asshole to just exist to only help you] This screen stood out in bolded blue outlining and brightly blue light glowing.

'I already knew you were an asshole and lazy as fuck, but could ya at least help me with shit?' Chikao thought.

[Hey I've helped you before]

'Not really.' Chikao chuckled to himself.

[Well since you are such a persistent prick right now, I'll actually help you for once]

'With what?' Chikao's face relaxed into what the system would call his bitch face.

[A blond girl is running towards you and she doesn't look like she can stop herself]

[What are you going to do now?]

'What do you mean-' Chikao thought, looking to his side. 'Oh shit.' He saw a cloud of dust approaching him.

"Watch out!!" The cloud of dust somehow yelled before taking Chikao and running into him, allowing the dust to spread everywhere and a figure to appear in front of the fallen detective. The detective in question had fallen on his back while the other figure had also fallen on their back but in the opposite direction.

'What the hell?' Was the only thing that Chikao could think before the dust, or rather the figure who had knocked over Chikao could start with their rant.

"Oh My Dragon! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to run into you! I was in a hurry! I'm so sorry! I couldn't stop in time! I can't believe I knocked you over! It's my fault! Are you hurt? Did I hurt you? I knocked into you so hard! Are you able to walk!?! Oh! Are you able to stand!?! Did you fall on your head!?! That fall was probably painful! Are you okay!?! Do you need medical attention!?! I am so sorry! I really didn't mean to! I was really in a rush to get here! Oh no! Ako's going to kill me! I've got to go quickly! But are you okay!?! I can't leave you here in pain! Do you want me to take you to the church!?! I think I can carry you! You're light right!?! Don't worry! I'll carry you straight to the church! It isn't that far, but can you make it!?! Oh, snap! Will I have enough time to get you to the church and return to Ako!?! I don't know! Wait! You're first priority! I'm so sorry again!..." The figure, who appeared to be female and was blond with bright purple eyes continued to apologize over and over while making too many hand gestures that Chikao couldn't even keep up. She continued to say things like taking Chikao to the church to heal him and asking if he was okay. At one point she looked like she was on the verge of tears. The girl, to Chikao, looked like a bright sun radiating light which made Chikao stare at her, dull-eyed and not knowing what to do. Obviously losing the words of the girl after hundreds of words being said in one go, Chikao just had to interrupt her.

"I'm okay! It's fine! I didn't break anything, I promise." Chikao finally interrupted her by waving his hands to the side showing he was fine after multiple attempts to stop her from most likely running out of breath.

"Oh thank the dragons you're okay! I would never forgive myself if not." The blond girl said with a huge sigh of relief, getting up before Chikao, who was still trying to get up. Although they both ran into each other, Chikao noticed that she had no signs of injury on her while Chikao had a couple of scratches.

"You don't seem hurt at all though? Do you not get hurt?" Chikao questioned which he kinda regretted since it sounded pretty stupid and he could feel the system getting ready to make some dumbass comments.

"Oh no no no! I work at the Adventurers Guild! I'm pretty strong so I'm alright!" The girl said with a blinding smile, adding to Chikao's mental list of reasons why this girl is brighter than the sun.

"Oh, that's pretty cool," Chikao said while getting up and brushing himself off.

"Thanks!" The girl said while beaming brighter which Chikao thought was impossible.

"You're welcome but," Chikao paused in the middle of his sentence as he remembered a few words from the extremely long yelling fest that the girl had. "Didn't you say you had to meet someone? I think you said something about a person named-"

"-Ako!!" The girl suddenly yelled loudly. "Oh no! I'm going to be late!" The girl started to run towards the entrance of the restaurant before Chikao yelled out to her.

"Hey wait!" Chikao yelled to her stopping her in her tracks. "Could you help me navigate around the city? I don't know where I'm going."

The girl started looking from the door to Chikao about 5 times before hurrying back to Chikao and giving him something. "I can't give you a tour right now, but here's a map. I'm so sorry again!" The adventurer said before bowing 90 degrees running to the door and forcing it open. Almost running into a group of people coming out, she hurried inside before Chikao could process what she gave him.

"Huh." Chikao said as he tilted his head, seemingly not understanding what just happened in the last 30 seconds.

[For a detective, you are preeetty slow] The system typed extra 'e's to hold the pretty to make it an obvious taunt for the preeetty slow detective.

"Hey, I'm not that slow!" Chikao yelled snapping out of his daze while also shutting himself up again. Again, realizing he yelled instead of just thinking.

[And you're really loud too] The system screen blinked with blue light in a teasing manner.

'Fuck you. That was not helpful.' Chikao side-eyed the screen while rolling his eyes halfway through reading.

Now tired of reading (and probably going blind from the blinking and bright lights of the outside world, the system, and that sun girl), Chikao chose to ignore the system and look down at the thick paper-like object, he observed it to see that it was a map like the girl had said.

"According to this it says that we are at "Eclipse Tavern"' Chikao mumbled to himself. While looking at the map, Chikao could see the gate that he entered through which was called "The Front Wall". The Front Wall was located at the bottom of the map towards where Chikao was holding it. To Chikao's right was where the Eclipse Tavern was on the map. Behind the Tavern, A building labeled "The Adventurer's Guild" Next to the building was a building that took a lot of room which was labeled "Academy of Mages and Knights" To the school's left, there is a labeled castle called "Royal Palace" and after the castle, below it is a building labeled "Town Hall". Beyond that to the far left is "Town Gomi" which is displayed by very badly kept houses which were basically the opposite from the houses in the Town Hall area. Above Town Gomi is the housing of mages and knights in training or what is otherwise labeled as "The Royal Academy's Dorms". Finally, in the center of the map is a huge water fountain that Chikao saw while first coming in through the city gates.

Chikao then thought to himself. 'Where to go. Where to go. The city is filled with plenty of remarkable places.' He kept pointing at various points on the map, mumbling quietly that even the system had a hard time understanding.

[What are you mumbling about?] A blue screen popped out from in front of the map that Chikao was holding, but Chikao took one glance and looked back at the map.

'I'm debating where I can get the most money from.'

[You're still on the money prize thingy?] This time the screen went in front of the map so that the map-reading male would actually read the message.

'Of course,' Chikao gave his signature 'are you fucking kidding me' face and continued. 'I may not know much about how I lived before, but I do know that money seems to run the world.'

[Of course, you still think that] The system screen appeared, but then disappeared after Chikao could only read about half of it. Not fazed much, Chikao started to walk towards the left of the tavern.

[So where are ya going now] The system popped.

'On the map, it says that there is a school around the area and I wonder if I could ask one of the teachers. They are most likely to have the most information since they are required to teach the same curriculum.' Chikao thought in a matter-of-fact tone.

[Way to be a prick, even in your thoughts]

'Why thank you.' Chikao thought with a slight smile on his face.

[...]

[Nevermind]

Walking down the brick path, Chikao could see that many of these buildings were houses, and the farther they traveled up the map, the more expensive the houses looked; Some even looked like they were equivalent to a cart full of gold.

'Hey, system.'

[Hmm?] The system replied.

'Could ya give me a run down about the school?'

[Maybe if you stop cursing so much I'll give you the info that you want] The system seemed to be really trying hard cause the screen had little extra decorations on it. Unfortunately for the system, Chikao was not exactly easy to bargain with when it came to something that he needed.

'...'

[...]

'...'

[Alright fine] The blue screen seemed to dim in lighting to replicate the defeated mood that the system seemed to be having.

[The school is called "Academy of Mages and Knights"]

[As the name suggests, this is an academy that teaches young mages and knights the way of protection and magic. The academy is open to mainly young people, ages 8-18. This is the only school in the entire city due to it being an isolated city because of the barrier]

'Is that it?' Chikao asked with a disapproving tone.

[I mean there really isn't much to it] Chikao shrugs after reading the system's message.

'Well, we are here it seems so I guess let's go take a look.' Chikao thinks as he looks around to see a gate that he then approaches. The gate reads in big, black letters that are made of metal that is also attached to the gate.

"Academy of Mages and Knights"

{Good Luck!}

  1. The gate that Taro Yamada stopped Chikao from going through at first. This wall is located at the front of the city.
  2. As the name suggests, this is an academy that teaches young mages and knights the way of protection and magic. The academy is open to mainly young people, ages 8-18. This is the only school in the entire city due to it being an isolated city because of the barrier.
  3. A building in the city that accepts requests for adventurers to do. This is where most adventurers work and get their money. Many talented adventuers work here. The adventurer named Kuruma Aoi works there.
  4. This Tavern was owned by Masako Ayuka's grandparents and her parents after their passing. Now that both her grandparents and her parents are deceased, Masako Ayuka owns the tavern. Although you currently can not see the sun or the moon during the day or night because of the barrier, Ayuka's grandparents could see it during their time resulting in the name of the tavern. A family rumor was that Ayuka's grandparents were like the sun and the moon which became the name of the Tavern. Who knows. The previous owner might be like their grandparents...Ayuka as the moon...And the sun as the co-owner...?
  5. These dorms house mainly students from the Academy, but also some apprentice knights and mages that the royal knights and mages are teaching. This place also holds a healing church that heals students and others, although students, knights, and mages are free, the other folks are not.
  6. The Royal Palace is where the most loyal knights and mages live in the many rooms with the King, Queen, and the Prince of Wortac. The palace is the most beautiful building in the entire city. It was built centuries ago and has been maintained using restoration and replacement magic which keeps the castle having a very old, but prestigious look.
  7. A tall building which is the 2nd tallest building in the entire city holds all meetings for the town part of the city.
  8. A part of the city that is its own town due to its run-down-looking surroundings and area. This is regarded as 'geto' in the city.
