Anna heard the sound of footsteps approaching her and she raised her head to see Madam Charlotte with a serious expression.
"You are a lot to what I have expected." She said. "Incredibly stupid."
Anna did not say anything at her words but instead remained quiet.
"Haven't I warned you enough to stay away from my son?" Her nose flared up with anger.
Marcos who was talking to a friend, saw the commotion and quickly walked back to meet Anna.
"What is going on here?" Anna looked at Marcos with relief that he would settle things himself.
Charlotte spoke up. "I want her out of this place immediately."
Marcos who was still staring at Anna shifted his eyes to look at his step-mother. "Why?"
The urge to tear the maid apart overwhelmed Charlotte and if not of her step-son, she wouldn't have hesitated. Though she hadn't found the opportunity she had hoped to send the maid out of the house without Marcos consent. She knew that if she doesn't act fast, the girl would use her charms on Marcos.
"Marcos do you want to spoil your family name? For you to bring a low maid like her to a party full with wealthy people, don't you know you will ruin your reputation." Charlotte answered while looking at the Marcos.
Marcos didn't looked surprised but instead he continued to stare at his step-mother with a blank expression.
"And who told you my reputation matters to me?" He asked.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes at his words before opening her mouth to speak.
"You can see we're in the middle of a party and you would not want to cause commotion in here. Stop bothering Anna and find something else to do. If you think you are bored go and keep Alex company." Marcos muttered.
"Marcos she is not part of this family. You should give her the treatment she deserve! She is a maid!" Charlotte's eyes flared with anger. Her face had turned into a darker shade of red and the makeup she wore was not helping.
Seeing how Charlotte was acting, Marcos guided Anna to another seat.
She turned around to see Lucian behind her in a deep kiss with his date. When a council members approached Marcos with an important matter, he walked away to a quiet area to speak with him.
"In regards in handling the man in Median Town, it was quite outstanding. There were reports that he had killed his daughter himself. How shameless of him!" The man named Robin complimented.
Marcos wordlessly walked with him out of the church until they were in a quiet corner where no one would hear their voice.
"What is it?" Marcos asked impatiently.
"Sorry to bother you but we need to talk." Robin said.
"We found a body in the middle of the forest. The body was sucked dry out of blood. We have been undergoing some test on the bite marks we found on the body. This isn't an animal attack like we have first thought of." Robin told him.
Marcos knew someday this conversation would eventually come up. But he was confused. A body in the middle of the forest? Sucked dry? His suspicion immediately went to Lucian. He turned to look at the view of the dark forest before him.
"How do you know it was not an animal attack?"
"It's not entirely confirmed yet. The men in the laboratory are still working on it." Robin replied.
Marcos glanced up at the sky. The stars was stationed as it used to be in every night. There was never a time he regretted locking his brother in hell.
Growing up together, Lucian had been the child who wanted to climb hierarchy ladder to the top without working for it.
He had personally witnessed on many accounts how evil and cruel his brother were. His brother wouldn't hesitate to kill a person if it means he would get what he wants.
"What do you plan to do now?" Marcos curiously asked.
"You see." Robin began, his fingers wrapped tightly around the wine glass. "In my own point of view I think there are blood suckers in this town."
"I need your help in this matter." Robin muttered. "If we wait for the council, it will take years for them to deal with this matter. You are the only one I know can deal with this."
"So how do you expect me to help you when I don't know these blood suckers you are talking about." Marcos looked around as he spoke.
"I know." Robin said. "My grandfather is a powerful witch and he has stayed in this town since ages. He is helping me in creating a device we could use to find these blood suckers."
"What kind of device?" Marcos already knew what he was talking about.
"It is a watch but more like a tracker. Once he is done fixing the device, I will get back to you."
"Let me know when he is done." Marcos smiled at him.
"Thank you for your time, Marcos. I truly appreciate." Robin bowed his head slightly and they walked into the church.
Meanwhile Anna who was taking a sip from the juice she had taken from a waiter, was surprised to see Lucian sitting near her.
"Boring drink." Lucian scoffed and in a swift movement, he took the glass and handed a glass of wine to her.
"I don't drink wine." Anna said looking at him.
"Are you not supposed to be with your date?" Anna asked.
"She had become boring to play with. Well, I came to meet you." He smiled, pulling her closer. She glanced at the woman who was glaring at her with envy and anger.
"What—" Before Anna could speak, he had pulled her closer to him. As he opened his mouth ready to kiss her, she slapped him so hard on his cheek causing the people around to gasp in shock.
"What do you think you are trying to do?" She hissed and stood up from the chair to leave when she suddenly bumped on Marcos.
"Are you alright?" He asked, looking down at her.
"I am fine." Anna turned around to see that Lucian had disappeared from there. She saw that his date was no longer sitting there too.
"Where did you go?" She asked as they walked back to their seat.
"I went with an acquaintance to speak on something."
Suddenly, they heard a scream from outside and everyone turned around to the direction the scream was coming from.
