Chapter 40 - Blood suckers 2

Marcos who was seated stood up immediately and walked outside the church. Anna followed him. As they walked, they continued to hear the scream of a woman. The voice was slowly becoming weak.

"What is happening?" Anna whispered to Marcos.

"I don't know." He muttered, stepping on the dried grass and walking towards the direction.

Anna who was following Marcos from behind stopped in her steps when she stepped on a dead body laying flat on the ground. For a moment, shock ran throughout her whole body. Her heart started to beat faster as she removed her leg from the body.

Marcos who was walking with other council members suddenly stopped when he noticed Anna was not following him. He turned around to see Anna staring at a dead body laying on the ground.

He quickly recognized the person to be Lucian's date and he knew immediately that it was his brother doings.

Anna fell on her knees and shook the body which refused to move. She placed her hand on her nostrils and noticed that she was not breathing.

The woman was dead and Anna stood like a log of wood as she continued looking at her. She was sure she would not be able to gather herself together after seeing the woman she spoke few hours ago with dead.

Robin pointed the torch on the woman and Anna saw that she was bleeding from her neck area. There was a bite mark which looked fresh. The bite mark looked exactly like the one she had seen on Clara and she wondered if it was an animal that had attacked Clara.

"You take her home while I search the area to find the person. I am sure whoever did it is still around." Robin whispered to Marcos.

Marcos nodded his head, knowing fully that Lucian would be at the Mansion by now.

He took hold of Anna and dragged her along with him from there. His expression had turned cold upon knowing that his brother would be the one to expose their identity soon. Now that the council was aware that it was not an animal attack as he had told them, he was afraid of what would happen next.

"Where are you taking me to?" Anna asked, walking behind him.

When they reached the carriage, he opened the carriage door for her and pushed her inside.

"Take her to the Mansion." He told the coachman before locking the door and walked away.

Anna placed her hand on her beating chest as the carriage started moving.

Ohh goodness! Her head was spinning with different thoughts running through her mind. What just happened to the woman? By the looks of the bite on her neck, it was obvious that it was from an animal or something else. She was confused. Where was Lucian when all this was happening to her? She was sure that she saw her when Lucian tried to kiss her. The look on her face was anger and envy.

But when she turned around, she saw that both Lucian and the woman was gone. Did something happen to Lucian too?

Panic shook her heart as she pressed her lips. She looked through the carriage window to see they were in the road leading to the Mansion.

When Marcos walked back the body, he saw Robin there.

"I didn't see anything. This is another proof that it isn't an animal attack. If it was an animal we would have been able to get hold of it. There would also be visible trails of blood on the ground." Robin said.

"We would need to bury the body somewhere." Marcos spoke.

"No. Can't you see she's from a wealthy family? We would need to reach the family and tell them the news." Robin muttered.

"Okay then." He nodded his head.

Anna who just arrived at the Mansion came down to see Victoria in front of her.

"I know what you are trying to do." Victoria eyed her from head to toe. "You have been using your charms on Marcos to escape work."

"He was the one who brought the idea of it. I didn't plan on going anywhere with him." Anna said, not liking the way Victoria was speaking to her.

Just then, the door opened and Marcos walked inside with a deadly expression. Hus blood was boiling with anger. He did not like the idea of Lucian staying here as he would expose their identity soon.

Turning around, he saw Anna and Victoria talking to each other about something. He opened his mouth to tell Anna to get him a cup of coffee but seeing that she was still in shock from what had happened, he decided to give her some time.

"Get me a cup of coffee in my room." He told Victoria.

She smiled sheepishly at him before turning her gaze back to Anna.

"I thought you never liked him." Anna frowned, looking at her roommate.

"I do." She smiled. "I just don't want you around him."

"Don't worry when I'm gone, I won't disturb you with my presence. This night will be my last night in this Mansion. Don't you think we should celebrate my departure from this Mansion?" She grinned.

"Once I'm done serving Master Marcos I will get us a cup of wine each." She smiled before walking away.

Anna looked at her roommate with confusion. One minute she would want to fight with her and then the next minute she would be talking to her as if nothing had happened between them. She pressed her lips together before walking upstairs to change her clothes.

Due to too much excitement that she will finally leave the Mansion, Victoria mistakenly prepared tea instead of coffee for Master Marcos.

She carefully placed the cup on the small tray and headed upstairs to his room. Knocking on his door, he opened the door wide for her to come inside.

Victoria beamed with smile as she walked inside and handed the cup of tea to Marcos.

When Marcos tasted from it, his anger rose up and he looked at Victoria with hot rage. His eyes which looked normal bled black and before she could open her mouth to speak, he pounced on her.
