Meanwhile, Marcos was still shock to see himself turning into his demon form. It had been years since something like this happened to him. It was the time his mother died and for the whole week, he was in his demon form.
Stepping into the room, he opened the black box and took out a transparent bottle containing green liquid. Opening the bottle, he gulped everything down.
Slowly, he was becoming himself again. Marcos stared at the room one last time before stepping outside and he closed it behind him.
When Anna went to the kitchen, she met Victoria ready to go to the market. She had a basket on her hand and was wearing a black hat to cover her head.
"Are you ready?" Victoria asked.
She nodded her head and the both of them walked out the house. There was a carriage waiting for them and they sat down in the carriage. Not long after, the carriage started moving.
It rode outside the big gates and headed towards the road leading to the market.
Anna was in deep thoughts as the carriage moved. The memory of what happened earlier surfaced in her head. Did his eyes really change colour or was she imagining? First it was the woman in the picture whose eyes changed, to Elizabeth crying and screaming and then to Marcos eyes changing colour.
Something wasn't right, Anna thought. When the carriage pulled over the market, they stepped out of it. Anna eyes wandered around to look for Lady Gaga but she could not find her at her frequent spot where she normally sells rabbit.
Maybe she didn't catch any rabbit today, Anna thought.
As the both of them continued walking, they looked around the market to find the things they would be needing in the kitchen.
"We should go there." Victoria pointed towards one store selling fruits and vegetables.
She nodded and was about to take a step when she heard a loud scream.
Turning around, she saw a young girl being dragged by two men to the centre of the market. She had blue skins and her wings which was glittering, was damaged. There were bruises on her lips and forehead.
The men had two whips on their hand which they used to whip her when she refused to walk fast. She was a fairy.
The young girl cried in pains as she followed the men. Anna had stopped listening to what Victoria was saying and was now standing in the middle of the market watching the scene.
Almost everyone in the market had stopped what they were doing to look at the young girl.
"What are you looking at?" She heard Victoria asked her. Victoria who had been walking had turned around when she didn't hear the footsteps of Anna anymore.
"Why are they being cruel to her?" Anna asked.
"Because she is a fairy. She cost more than a fortune. If you were the one who caught her you would have done so." Victoria whispered to her.
"I would never treat a person like that. For goodness sake they have feelings in them." Anna cried out.
"Her life in this human world does not matter, Anna." She turned to look Victoria with a frown when she heard her.
"What do you mean?" Her brows furrowed.
"These creatures do not have remorse for we humans too. My mother was almost killed by them some time ago." Victoria replied.
"They act in that way because of how we treat them. They are angered by our action towards them." Anna protested.
"If only you had caught one. You wouldn't have been defending them." Victoria said before turning to watch the scene.
Anna was convinced that the humans were heartless creatures. They only cared about the life of themselves while hurting others. She didn't understand why one would be so mean to them. They do not take the right actions and often care about the benefits of what the fairies would bring to them. They treated them like they were only used for cosmetic and nothing more.
Once a human had caught a fairy, it would be the end of their life as they would be locked up somewhere while being used like an object. Animals had better life than them.
Turning to look at the young girl, she heard her scream again when the men whip her.
Anna's eyebrows furrowed deep at the harsh treatment given to the fairy. Just when she took a step forward, Victoria pulled her.
"Do not put matters into your hands, Anna. You are not the one who caught the fairy." Victoria warned her.
"We should start going to buy foodstuffs before Edith would start to worry about us." Victoria said but Anna was not willing to walk away.
All the people watching the scene, had amusement in their eyes. All they cared about was using her skin and wings for cosmetic.
"She doesn't deserve such I'll treatment." Anna told her.
"She is a fairy and might end up dying like the rest they had caught. Sometimes the people sleep with them with huge money. Other times, they would lock them in a dark room while cutting off their wings every week. It just depends on who catches them." Victoria explained.
The men brought out a small knife which would be used to cut out her wings.
"Please mercy me!" The girl cried. No body acted as if they cared for her and they watched her with amusement. "Please!"
When they cut out her wings, she screamed with anguish of pain. She was just a common fairy trying to hide in the midst of the humans but today was an unfortunate day for her
Her madam who she was working for, had caught her shredding some part of her skin. The woman wasted no time in telling the people about it.
They poured down a reddish liquid on her body and she started to scream when her skin was falling out.
Once her skin was out, the men grabbed her and pushed her into a carriage. When Anna met eyes with the young girl, she hissed at Anna.
Anna quickly hid her face behind Victoria when the other man grabbing her turned to look at who the girl was staring at.
"We should leave now." She walked out of the scene before the people could notice her presence.
