Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Myrah 's POV

My older sister, Alisa, yelled from the ground floor, "Myrah !" I was reading a magazine that I had discovered on the couch downstairs when I was up in my bedroom.

It was definitely one of her temper outbursts; therefore, I didn't have the authority to respond. In this house, it was always the Myrah torture game.

She yelled, "Myrah Paris Dante!" She was probably making her way upstairs now. When my family called me by my entire name, it meant fire. Even though I had requested it, did I really need to answer a reprimand call?

Alisa appeared at my door in two minutes. She gave me a glare that said, "You haven't seen the last of me."

"Myrah , what on earth are you doing with my magazine? You've been here the entire time I've been calling, acting as if you couldn't hear me. I thought I warned you not to touch my things without my permission, she yelled as she took the magazine from me and scratched my hand with her long, expensive nails.

As if the drama wasn't enough, my mother, Flavia Dante, entered the room, closely followed by her other son, Alton, who is Alisa's identical twin. Lord, save me.

Can this house ever be peaceful? What's all the fuss about right now? Mom enquired.

I kept quiet while I observed them. I wanted to avoid any difficulty.

"Mother, I believe it is past time for you to get rid of Myrah . Simply put, I can no longer stand her. "You must act!" Alisa yelled, folding her arms.

Mom glared at me and said, "Myrah , what have you done this time?"

Of course, my mother always supported her two eldest children when choosing sides.

"Does it always have to be my fault or something I did, Mom?" I said it softly while maintaining eye contact with her.

If someone proposed the idea that she wasn't my biological mother and that they weren't my biological siblings, I would accept it wholeheartedly.

As he typed something on his phone, Alton cautioned Myrah , "Show some respect to your mother." He was the same as the others.

Does she ever show me respect? It's as if she had two kids, while I'm just a nobody here.

You are that, indeed! You believed that you were a princess. You repulse me. Nothing about you is Dante-worthy. You are an embarrassment to our family," Alisa snarled at me.

It was very painful. I was aware of that fact, yes, but they didn't have to remind me of it. My eyes were about to start crying, and they were already starting.

"Why?Why am I not right now? Why are you so hostile toward me now? What did I do to deserve this?

My eyes were streaming with tears, yet they were not the least bit bothered.

Because of you, Myrah , Dad passed away. Simply put, you were at fault. I only wish you had perished in that accident instead of him. Alton Spat at me, "We will never forgive you for taking the best man in this world.

If I had been too close to him, he would have given me a hard slap.

How did I know we would crash on that particular day?

How was I to know that we would crash that day? I stood up for myself.

"Myrah , you were obstinate in going outside. My spouse is gone because of your infantile tantrums, Myrah .

"But..."

"Has anyone ever told you that your voice irritates me? Your tone is quite low and scratchy. I'm sure nobody would want to hear your voice, so perhaps you should try speaking less, as Alisa suggested before leaving. Before I could respond. Alton and Mom pounded on the door behind them. I felt a lump in my throat that I couldn't understand. I broke down on the ground in a shambles, tears streaming down my cheeks uncontrollably. I was internally bleeding. Perhaps they were correct. Perhaps it was my fault, but I'd never inflicted harm on Superman or my dearest buddy anywhere on this planet.

My life revolved around Gerald Dante. I recalled the day he died on a daily basis. Everything happened so fast that I didn't even have time to say goodbye or try to save him.

He managed to save me, but not himself. My sense of guilt was really strong.

Everything was fine prior to his death. We had the ideal family. I was everyone's favorite and a daddy's girl. I used to laugh, smile, and be the life of the gathering. His passing ushered in a new era. That day, I lost everything. In addition, I lost my family, my inner self, my voice, and my hope.

When the car caught fire, I screamed so loudly that I injured myself, but I was unable to raise my voice any louder.

I wasn't confident enough to accomplish it in any case.

Sometimes I wish I had passed away instead of him. Without one another, we could not survive. I was internally decomposing.

It had been five years, and I still thought about him every day.

I sobbed and gripped my shaky knees as I reflected on all the memories. I long to travel back in time.

Alton Was 26 years old, and Alisa was a top model who possessed both beauty and intelligence. She was outfitted with everything a lady needs. She was the highest-paid model in the area at the time.

Alton had assumed control of the business. The new CEO was him. He was extremely prosperous, stunning, and popular. He was well-liked by women, particularly businesswomen and models of the same caliber.

My mother, Flavia Dante, served on the company's board of directors and owned a prosperous store in the neighborhood. She earned all of her obscene wealth through diligent labor. She looked younger than her actual age and had the classic Dante appearance.

Next is me, Myrah Dante Paris. You can call me the bad guy, the least well-liked. I had nothing and, tragically, no one at the age of 25. Despite having a degree, I was still in need of work. I never ventured outside because I didn't want to ruin the reputation of my ideal family.

I took a deep breath and got to my feet. For the previous five years, I had anticipated that relaxation.Where did it go?

With a big smile painted on her stunning face, Alisa rushed into my bedroom three hours later, around two in the afternoon.

Awkward. She was clutching a sizable box, which she set down before running up to give me a bear hug. She gave me such a tight hug that I almost believed Alisa had returned, but then I had a realization. Alisa Dante was her name. a surprise-filled gift.

Guess what, Paris? She yelled with delight.

Everyone used to call me Paris when my father was alive. It had not happened before in five years.

"What?" I worked to sound enthusiastic.

"Guess who's getting married tonight?" She exclaimed with excitement.

My eyes started to glow for the first time in a very long time.

I resisted her because I was eager.

"What?! No way. You're tying the knot? I was unaware that you were committed to someone.

I really had no idea. Her identity was mine. I was obligated to feel joy for her, no matter what. She has always had my best wishes.

"Oh, kindly! Do you have to be so dim all the time? She rolled her eyes and proclaimed, "I'd never get married now.

"So, who's getting married?"

Seriously, who would make Alisa so happy? Someone she knows But why would that worry me?

"You stupid. You'll finally leave our lives tonight. I'm sorry, honey.

Me? My heart sank, and I lost my smile. But no one was visible to me. I appeared perplexed.

Don't make me appear that way. Get ready for the occasion.

Though it's a tiny and straightforward item, the celebration will soon be lavish. The box contains all the necessities for a bride. Alton will come and get you at 5 o'clock sharp. If you need help, I'm more than happy to help.

"I don't understand.

Of course you wouldn't understand.

You are married to Valentino Alexander , a well-known heartthrob and wealthy man. To not be familiar with him, you must be a rock. You're so fortunate, my love. You finally command attention.

I'm still confused.

She was kind to me, but she was getting frustrated with me.

It is an arranged union. A one-year agreement between Alexander's and Dante's. As the bride, you are of course, you two are not engaged, but to the outside world, you two have been engaged for three months, and soon you will wed. In essence, it was a private affair. It's a contract for business-related matters that you wouldn't comprehend.

Alisa clarified the circumstances. Of course, I was useless to her and had no idea how anything worked. I forced myself to swallow.

"I won't wed a complete stranger. I tried my best to seem assured and firm as I told her, "I have the right to pick my partner.

Alisa laughed and looked over my body.

"As if anybody would want to be your choice. This topic is not up for debate. Save us some time.

I firmly declared, balling my fists, "I won't get married."

My cheek instantly prickled with a searing sting. It ached so much that I had to cover it with my hand.

I had received a loud swat from Alisa, among her greatest. Her ring cut me slightly below my eye, leaving a scarlet welt in its wake. I was in pain.

Looking intently at me, she questioned, "Anything else to say?"

I shrugged that off. She would murder me if I said anything else; I knew it.

"Perfect. "Suit yourself," she responded, waving her extravagant hair as she went away.

I wiped my nose with my hand after feeling a warm liquid drip from it. I was in pain. I hurried to the bathroom to wipe myself up.

After waiting 15 minutes, I was on my bed looking at my robe. Although it was beautiful, I didn't want to be in it. Why me?

This Valentino person—who was he? I was therefore living under a rock because I had no knowledge of him. I hardly knew anyone.

I promptly pulled out my laptop and Googled him.

There were other headlines about him, including the most recent one that was trending about his covert engagement.

All that foolishness took up time that I didn't have right now. I hurried to the photos because I had to at least see his face, and there was a whole gallery of him.

Okay, so I couldn't speak. My heart began to beat faster right away. My cheeks started to take on an odd tint, and a smile started to appear on my lips.

I had never subscribed to the notion of love at first sight, but the artwork I was viewing had stirred up emotions I had never experienced before. How was he able to be that perfect?

After reading three pieces about him, I was persuaded that he enjoyed a respectable reputation among women.

Was that to say that Valentino would be my better half? The concept alone caused me to have strange emotions.

Was my new found excitement over getting married a good thing?

My intuition rapidly prompted me to start working on my appearance right away. I had to win him over. My initial perception had to be flawless.

A year from now, by all means necessary, I would ensure its success. At last, there is light at the end of the tunnel. My handsome prince had arrived at last.

Although I

was happy, that persistent idea bothered me.

Would the hot billionaire accept a socially awkward sack of shame like me?
