Chapter 3 - Chapter 3~Portrait

Ellie opened her eyes. She sighed hard.

Her clairvoyance had acted up again.

It was the rare ability to see someone's past or future by touching them.

But,she wondered why it had happened when she touched the tiara.

It was all strange.

However, what captured her attention was an old picture of a woman on the wall painted in oils.

she looked at the date beneath it.

It was dated about a century back. She looked closer at it.

Her head spun.

She felt her pulse rise, she patted her chest to calm her racing heart.

The woman in the portrait...It was her!??

Or rather,looked like her.

They looked exactly the same. The only difference was the air of royalty around her.

Someone tsked in the room.

"Splitting image"

She spun around.

Color drained from her face.

It was him.

The man from the vision.

Those grey eyes were unmistakable. They looked like the sky on a rainy night.

His odd bright red hair.

He reminded her of a devil.

When she looked at him,her heart stirred.

He was so handsome, she forgot how to breathe.

The man was astonishingly familiar.

He was a walking red flag and she was the color blind fool.

"You're intruding".He held a smirk on his face.

Ellie who couldn't explain the situation of how she got here ended up only saying.

"M..My apologies".She wanted to bite her tongue. It had started again. She was probably tense.

He raised a charming brow at her words.

"name?"

Ellie blinked."what?".

"Your name".He repeated.

"Elysa".

He clicked his tongue.

Even the name was familiar.

A crooked smile crept on his face.It was a sardonic one, just look at how fate had played a mean trick on him.

"How did you end up here?".He questioned.

"I lost my way".She answered.

Well,it was half the truth.

Glancing at her one last time,he turned and said.

"Alright, let me take you out".

With those words,he stepped out leaving her with the choice to follow him or not.

He didn't need to turn back to check if she was following him for he knew she did.

She always did.

To her surprise, they had taken another path different from the one she took when coming there.

It was a shorter one.For in a matter of minutes, they had reached the ballroom.

The warm golden light greeted her blue eyes.

It was a grand event.

People of the high society with one another, drinking and chatting.

Soft music played in the background.

Her mind wandered back to the the mysterious stranger.

Only for her to turn and see he wasn't by her side anymore.

Where had he gone??

She was too busy admiring the room, she hadn't noticed when he left.

Meanwhile,a pair of coal blue eyes had spotted her from above. His eyes gleaming with mischief.

He chuckled softly.

"...interesting".

Her eyes roamed round the room looking for her family.

Then,she saw Aston.

His blonde hair standing out as always.

She saw he was in a conversation with a woman he seemed to be well versed with.

Walking over to him,he seemed to have noticed her because he turned in her direction with a smile.

When she got to him,he held her hand turning to face them both.

"Ellie,this is Eleaher...short for Leah.She's a friend."

"Leah, this is my sister, Ellie".He added.

Leah smiled."Nice to meet you".

Ellie returned her greeting with a smile and a small nod.

The woman was very beautiful. She wondered what kind of friends they were.

And by friend,he had meant one of the women his mother had brought to him in hope of marriage but hopefully they were both against it and somehow they became friends.

Clarice who had roamed off looking for men to converse with finally found one of power, wealth and status. Those were the three things she wanted in a husband.

It was the young son of the Duke.

Mauve Grey.

Holding a drink in her hand. She smiled coyly at him listening to the young man boast of his wealth.

Her eyes had shifted a bit to catch a glimpse of golden brown.

she went back to listening to him. After some seconds, her eyes went back.

Golden brown.

It's shade was unmistakable.

That shade of honey.

It was her.

She spat out the drink in her mouth ungraciously.

Her face turned red realizing what she just did.she turned around to check if many had noticed but to her luck,no.

She looked back at the gentleman in front of her.

"I'm so sorry".She brought out a handkerchief to clean the stains of the red liquid on his white inner shirt.

A little frown placed on his forehead,Mauve sighed.

He held her hand taking the hankie from her.

"it's alright".came his strained voice while trying to clean himself up.

clarice hissed and glared at Ellie who had caused it all.

How did she get out??

"Excuse me".She walked off with her head held high.

~

The same man who had led Ellie out was talking to some guests.

Noticing people already dancing, one of the women asked.

"Your Majesty,Aren't you going to dance?".

In hope that he would pick her.

His grey eyes sparkled in mirth.Offering a crooked smile,he answered.

"maybe I will".

The woman softly harrumphed expecting him to take her to the dance floor when he walked past her.

Her face paled. Her head whipped back along with many others who where curious of who he was going to dance with.

~

On reaching where Ellie was,Clarice

exclaimed.

"...You!".

A frown marred Ellie's face remembering what her sister did.

Clarice who had noticed the King walking in her direction suddenly put up a sweet smile.

She knew it.She knew he wouldn't be able to resist her. Many men had come to accompany her but she had downright refused them in hope. She felt giddy.

Ellie wondered why her sister had suddenly smiled spun around only to see

the mysterious stranger walking towards them.

Clarice who had opened her mouth to speak suddenly clamped it shut seeing as he had passed her.

Her smile fell.

Just like many others, she turned around.

His steps slowed upon reaching Ellie.

Finally he stopped right in front of her.

Stretching out a hand for her,he said.

"Dance with me,Elle".
