Just like the king had said, the people followed. They ate and drunk, some looking for guest rooms for their partners.
Everything was provided in the ball, down to blood drinks for the creatures of the night.
Ellie sat on a chair she had grabbed earlier near a table, with a drink she had barely even drunk from. She was tired.
"Miss, can i get to know you".
She raised her head.
It was a young dark haired man.She could tell he was one of the higher society guests due to his expensive clothing.
Staring at him,She didn't know what to say
.
Finally she hummed."hmm".
The guy pulled a seat and sat close to her.Too close for people who had just met.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
"Holton Miller".He started.
"Acting viscount of Narnia."
Narnia was another city in Castile.
Seeing as Ellie didn't say a word.He spoke.
"you?".
Seeing as he was persistent, she answered.
"Elysa Meagher... Daughter of the Earl of dyre, Frederick Meagher".
Hearing her backgrounds,he couldn't help but smile to himself.
If he could get her as a wife,he certainly wouldn't have to think of money. He thought
.
Ellie could almost see the ideas that went through his head.
"I really hope we can....".He trailed off seeing as Ellie had closed her eyes.
"Anything wrong,Elysa?".He asked.
Ellie groaned internally.
She just wanted to go home and sleep.
Couldn't he see that he was overstepping boundaries...!??
"Just a slight headache".She stated.
Seeing her aloof expression, holton realized she wasn't too interested.
But nevertheless, being the persistent man he was.He continued.
"We should get well acquainted with each other, maybe some time you could have lunch at my house."
Not being able to take any more, she stood up leaving her drink on the table.
"Excuse me,my family would be looking for me".
That was a complete lie,as she had told Aston where she was and she doubted the rest would ever look for her.She wasn't one to lie but he left her no choice.
"But what about_".He couldn't finish as Ellie had walked away.
Watching his chance slip away,he cursed.
"Damn it".
Ellie watched as Aston talked to a group of ladies who laughed at everything he said.
Of course,he was a ladies man.He never had trouble based on his looks.
The women looked like they were having a great time.
Sadly, she'd have to ruin it. Shethought.
she went over to where he was and grabbed his arm.
"Please take me home,Aston.".She said.
"Right now?".
"Yes please".
He looked at the women.
"sorry ladies,I'd have to go home now.The ball would soon end anyways".He offered a polite bow to them.
"Come on".He said to Ellie, leaving the women to murmur at the disturbance.Almost everyone who attended the ball came to curry favors of different kinds.
As they reached the carriage,Aston stopped.
"What happened".He asked her.
"Nothing,I'm just tired".
He hummed."It's almost midnight anyways".
They got into the carriage.Aston didn't bother to inform anyone as they had a second carriage.
The carriage drove off along the luxurious streets of Wraith heading back to dyre.
The ride went on for about 30 minutes till they reached their home.
Aston stepped out offering a hand to Ellie.
They walked into the house together, reaching the stairs,Aston spoke.
""Good night, Ellie".
Ellie looked at him.She suddenly felt bad,she made him leave the ball in such short notice for her.
"I'm sorry".She apologized.
He tilted his head.
"For what?".
"For interrupting your night".
He suddenly laughed.
Ellie looked confused.
"There's no problem about that, someone had to do it anyway".He offered a charming smile.
"So don't be sorry".
She nodded at his words.
He walked her to her room before he went to his.
Locking the door, Ellie walked into the bathroom. After some minutes she came out all wet wrapped in a towel.
Slipping into a long night dress, she lay on her beg covering herself with the comfy blankets.Soon enough,She succumbed to sleep.
_____
Ellie's eyes fluttered open in bed followed by the rumbling of thunder. The earlier sounds had woken her up.She had always been a light sleeper and now she couldn't find herself sleeping back.
She got up walking barefooted to switch on the lights. The elegant clock ticked quietly in the large room. She looked up at the clock,it was just past 2.In a few hours,it would be Dawn.
She walked quietly to her large window pulling it open to reveal her large balcony.
She frowned slightly. It wasn't even raining.
The clouds were dark and stormy. Her blue eyes searched for the moon.
Where was the moon tonight??.
was the moon hidden??.
She noticed a pale glow behind the clouds, then she realized that the dark clouds had covered the moon.
As she stared at the sky,A sense of deja vu washed over her.
She nearly jumped by the next strike of lightning. She hurried inside closing her windows shut.
What was she going to do now?.She thought as her eyes raised the room looking for something to do.Her gaze landed on her book shelf.
Of course,how could she forget.
The shelf was filled with books of all kinds. Some were novels.others, finance, history of Castile,Royal economy.
She went over to the shelf, hastily trying to grab a book when the book slipped causing some other books near it to fall as well resulting to a loud thud.
"Dear God". Ellie whispered to herself, making a silent prayer hoping no one heard that. She would be in serious trouble if any one found her awake at such an hour.
She walked quietly, climbing back into her bed.She sat on it,her back touching the head rest, knees to chest.
She had picked the book at random out of haste forgetting to check the title.
It was about the history of Castile.
"The second king's queen. ".She read the title aloud.
The king should have died many years ago due to the dating of the book.It all happened about a century ago.
She flipped the cover.
Now she realized why it felt so familiar, she had once read this book not to long ago but wasn't able to go far because of momentary distraction. In other words-Alice.Her friend from dale,a city close to dyre.
'she who taught him love'.That was the only line on the first page.
She couldn't remember where she last stopped so she decided to start from the beginning.
