Chapter 88 - **Ch 88: Deadly Serpents

Below the steep terrain, where the majority of the Alphas were rooted in combat, their formidable ground armies battled with the Rebellion forces.

Amidst the tumult of warfare, Rose's little brother, of just twenty years old, is surrounded by Slithers as the battle rages around them. Outmatched and inexperienced, the young vampire faced inevitable doom.

"Shut your eyes!" Ace's urgent command pierced through the din of the battle as he recognized the dire situation unfolding with Rose's brother. "Hold on!"

With crackling lightning emanating

from his fingertips, Ace smites a bolt of electricity directly into his adversary's chest. A surge of electrical energy enveloped the vampire, causing him to violently convulse and writhe on the sand until he lay charred to a mummified crisp. Seizing the advantage, Ace leaped into the air, conjuring a lightning whip crackling with electrical energy.

Meanwhile, as Rose's brother shut his eyes, he constructed a sparkling crystal barrier to shield himself from the Slithers. Coming swiftly, Ace soared in and used the electrical whip, striking the nine vampires with it, and instantly, lightning fried them into crispy mummified remains. Grateful for Ace's rescue, Rose's brother burst out of the crystalline igloo and launched a volley of crystalline shards at another vampire while Ace fought a Wing above the battle.

Not too far away from them, after Rome detained a vampire with his fangs, he discovered himself surrounded by eight gorgeous vampiresses, all eager to strike him.

Five were Shapeshifter wolves, while the other three were Predatory, like him. From the previous wars, he recognized these beauties.

Clad in tight, flexible black leather that accentuated their slenderly sleek bodies, Rome couldn't help but admire their captivating figures and busty breasts. However, it was the center Shapeshifter warrioress with the long, flowing twilight black hair that captured his interest the most.

"If you lovelies weren't on the Rebellion side, I'd take you all out on a date," Rome flirted, winking at the beautiful warrioresses before locking his eyes on the vampiress with the black flowy hair. "And you," he added with another flirtatious wink, "I'd make my wife."

"In your wildest fantasies, Rome," hissed the vampiress with the black hair. "You could only wish!"

Behind Rome, Ivan hollered while bending the sandy soil to deflect the blows of lava from a Dark he was fighting. "Quit flirting with the enemies, Rome!"

High in the sky, his younger brother exclaimed as he mobilized a small windy funnel, sucking a few wings into its vortex. "Why does Rome always get to duel with the hot warrioresses?"

"Because I'm irresistible," Rome teased, flashing a charming smile at the beauties.

"You wish, Rome!" hissed the vampiress with the black hair as she readied her stance to attack.

"I wouldn't," Rome warned, but the warrioresses paid him no heed.

The five shapeshifters shifted into wolves, menacingly growling before they charged.

Steadfast on his feet, Rome conducted a deft forward flip in mid-air, swiftly snapping the neck of one of the Predatory vampiresses. As another vampiress lunged a bite on his arm, he expertly flipped her into the air, snapping her neck in one swift motion. Charging in to help from the right, Glenn expelled fire from his mouth, detaining them all except for the black wolf vampiress with the long black hair.

Snarling and licking her chops, she bounded on all fours, leaping into the air before pouncing on Rome. Her canines tore into the side of his neck as his back hit the ground. When she thought she conquered him, Rome wrapped his arms around her neck, exerting his strength to subdue her when he crushed it. With a whimper, she succumbed before her eyes closed as he immobilized her. To replenish his blood, he drank deeply into her fur, consuming her blood to heal his wounds. In her wolf form, her body dried up into a petrified dog as some of the fur withered away.

"You should have married me, darling," Rome murmured, sliding her wolf form off his body.

Amidst the battle, all of a sudden, the ground quaked once more, signaling their planned strategy for some of the Rebellion to retreat from the battle. As the Allegiance moved to chase them down, over thirty giant-sized serpents burst forth beneath the sand. Sharp spikes bristled their scaly, dark crimson-plated bodies, and each bore a menacing horn near the tip of their noses. Each one towered approximately sixty feet tall and weighed over three thousand pounds. Controlled by the Slithers, these monstrous serpents howled a bone-chilling shriek before their heads lunged toward the ground, swallowing vampires whole before slithering back into the sand. Then, with deadly precision, they resurfaced to claim more victims.

"Watch out!" Jack's urgent cry pierced from the sky as he abandoned his duel with a Wing vampire.

With lightning speed, he dove down, knocking his younger brother and two of Ryder's warriors aside, narrowly avoiding the gaping jaws of a serpent. Tragically, three of Ryder's warriors were swallowed in one gulp as the serpent disappeared into the ground by diving headfirst into the sand.

Meanwhile, not far from them, Ivan, his brother-in-law named Jeff, and Finn were swallowed whole by a serpent emerging underneath the sand beneath their feet.

After witnessing his best friends being devoured, Glenn's voice reverberated across the battlefield, issuing a decisive command, "All who wield the gift of fire, ignite them!"

Brisk in response, vampires gifted with fire gift abilities had organized themselves into line formations, initiating more of the Rebellion to retreat as they had planned to leave inside the portals with their detained warriors.

"NOW!!!" Glenn's command resonated as ten serpents curled into the sand and then coiled back up as they slithered toward them.

Torrents of fiery flames erupted from their palms as the serpents emerged from the sand. Flames engulfed the beasts in a fiery conflagration as their agonizing shrieks surfaced to the sky.

On the opposite side of the fire-gifted vampires, others with ice gifts had formed their attack positions. With the twist of their wrists, they motioned their arms into fluid movements, conjuring razor-sharp ice to impale the unsuspecting serpents. Icy spears inflicted fatal wounds on the serpents as they slithered through the sand, painfully killing those beasts.

High above everyone, Ace and other vampires with the gift of producing electrical charges of lightning had gathered. With impeccable timing, they unleashed deadly flashing rays of lightning at the beasts, striking them dead with voltages coursing through their bodies.

Beneath the shifting sands, blood moistened the sandy particles as the swallowed vampires forcefully erupted from their entrapment, inadvertently killing the serpents underneath the ground. Throughout different areas of the battlefield, swallowed vampires dug themselves out of the sand with the assistance of others. Groups of vampires, were unfortunately detained inside the serpents that Glenn and the others had scorched with fire, while the scaly skin provided protection for the vampires inside those monstrous reptiles that were impaled by ice or struck by lightning.

Alongside Jeff, Finn, and numerous others, Ivan emerged from the granular particles, escaping their sandy imprisonment with his earth gift.

Repulsed by the bloody, oozing sand that covered his body in green slime, Ivan spat at the ground, "You stupid beasts can't digest vampires!" as he attempted to wipe it away from his bare torso and arms.

Shaking the slimy residue from his arms, Jeff remarked, "This is why Kai despises animals."

"I can't blame him," Finn added, flicking the sticky blood from his wrists.

Upon spotting them, Rome and their friends burst into an uproar of laughter. "You guys reek!" he teased, though the statement was undeniably true.

As Rome wiped his watery eyes from laughing so hard, Ivan irritably snapped. "Shut up, Rome!"
