I kept strolling along until I reached my destination around the corner.
"Finally!" I raved, drooling over the candy bar I had to have, like right now. After digging out some change in my purse, I selected one-five-two on the keypad for the candy I wanted.
"No... no! Ohh, no!"
Just my luck. My candy bar got jammed before it dropped into the lower compartment for me to get it.
"Need some help?" Each tiny hair on the back of my neck pointed straight up the second an unknown manly voice offered his assistance to help me.
I turned to the side, and saw this gorgeous tall man with dirty blonde hair and almond refulgent baby-mint-green eyes smiling at me. His nose was narrow, and his lower lip was a smidge fuller compared to his upper lip.
With a loud bang from his fist, he smacked the vending machine, and my candy flopped to the bottom.
"Here you go." He smiled, handing me my candy bar.
"Why thank you, kind sir." I giggled, receiving it from him.
"There is no need to thank me. I'm a firm believer that everyone should get what they desire before their death," he affirmed, and I backed away upon hearing that.
"You're a vampire," I uttered as his natural eye color shimmered to red.
"Aren't you a clever girl," his snide remark toyed with me.
Before I could stay clear of him, he snatched my neck with one hand. With a loud crash, all my things fell to the floor, including my candy bar.
"Y-you can't kill...m-me," my broken up stifled voice gasped as he clutched my neck tightly.
My nails dug into his wrist as he cocked his head to the side. "See now, that is where you are wrong because I have nothing to lose because I already lost the love of my life. According to the Vampire Oath, warfare is legal," he grinned crookedly as my eyes gaped when he throttled my windpipe tighter to kill me.
Hot redness heated my face as my eyes rolled up into the back of my head from being strangled to death. Right when I felt faint, he released my neck, and I immediately collapsed to the floor as I was coughing up my lungs. Feeling a burning sensation in my throat, I heaved and gagged because of how severely sore my entire throat felt.
"Then again, killing you now would be too easy. Killing you slowly would be more agonizing. After all, as an Alpha, I still have my Coven and clan to look out for," he thinkingly debated as I gasped heavily on my hands and knees for air near his boots.
"Andrew!" Mia gasped under her breath.
In a flash, he whipped her way and snatched her throat before he heaved her off her feet against the wall.
"As for you, Mia, I shall rip you apart limb from limb!" Andrew declared as he growled.
"Ah!" Mia struggled as her legs kicked against him to break free, but she was trapped against him.
Still trying to catch my breath, I looked around for anything to save her with. Near the vending machines, I found the emergency ax box on the wall. Scooting a book along the floor, I crawled weakly to it as Mia screamed when his fangs bit her neck.
With a powerful shove, she kicked the pointy heels of her boots into his abs and tossed him away from her body. But Andrew was fast to charge forth to attack her. Yet Mia dauntlessly leaped into the air to attack the Alpha. As soon as he grasped her forearms, he flipped her up over his head with a roar, and Mia was harshly hurled to the floor extremely hard. Hard enough that she was instantly knocked out once her head hit the hardened floor. Blood seeped from the crack on the side of her temple as she groaned when her bent legs flopped over.
As I tried to claw my nails up the wall to reach the glass box to the ax, suddenly Ivan dashed in, and shoved the Alpha against the wall he originally had Mia pinned against.
He ripped his claws into Andrew's torso and tore parts of his dress shirt and black jacket into shreds. Being unmatched against an Alpha, in one swoosh, a fist whacked into Ivan's head, and then he threw his body away. In mid-air, Ivan soared to the opposite wall, smashing his back into it with a loud crack.
Really getting mad, Andrew snorted as his eyes met mine while I was still trying to reach upward for the glass box to get the ax. With a bang, I weakly hit the corner of my hardback book into the glass, but it merely dented a crack in it. Too weak, my back slid along the wall before my butt hit the floor because I still couldn't catch my breath.
"On second thought, I'll just kill you now!" Andrew decided, roaring louder.
"Victoria!" Ivan hollered.
Andrew stormed my way as Ivan was getting off the floor to attack him, but before he could, Kai swooped in front of Andrew's pathway to reach me.
Upon Kai's interference, he growled as gray-arched thin wings ripped up through the back of whatever fabric was still hanging onto him from his dress shirt and the jacket he wore, before it shredded off his body entirely. At the tip-top edges of his wings were sharp pointy tooth-like claws. His skin shriveled gray as his cheekbones had sunken inwardly. The dreamy features of his face unfurled into a gargoyle monster. His jeans tore apart from his muscular gray legs as monstrous clawed-toed feet busted out from his boots. Ripped in mighty muscles along the length of his entire body, Andrew stood before us, looking like a creepy gargoyle monster, which I never knew these species existed.
"You touch my mate or my friends, and I will rip your sisters and their offspring apart!" Kai warned, shielding my body while I panted on the floor behind his calves.
"I will rip you all apart!" Andrew perilously threatened.
Head-on, he flapped his wings as Kai's warrior-like features warped into an underworld creature. In a full-on attack, their bodies collided and crashed together with bone-breaking sounds. Flesh is rive as they claw into each other's upper bodies. Kai bit his neck before they tumbled and tossed to the floor. Gaining powerful strength over my husband, Andrew pinned Kai on his back and held him down. One at a time, the toothlike claws on his wings stabbed into Kai's chest over and over again. Chunks of Kai's flesh and blood were spattered into the air before it splattered over the floor until he flipped Andrew on his back. Once Kai had him pinned, he clawed into his upper body as they both roared. Bigger chunks of flesh were getting sliced from Andrew's chest.
As they were fighting, Ivan dragged Mia my way from underneath her armpits before he held her head on his lap as he checked me over. "Breathe easy," he instructed when he gathered that I still couldn't catch my breath.
