A sudden sharp pain pierced into my head, and my body felt extra heavy.
"You shouldn't be here!" Kai growled. "Your time-gap is killing you!"
"We've already established that in your future," I uttered, groaning in pain.
"You need to stop visiting me so much!" Kai asserted aggressively.
"It doesn't work like that, you dummy!" I snapped at him. "Wait, how many times have I seen you?" I randomly wondered.
"I lost count. Besides, you should know that answer yourself," he stated as if I did.
"It's out of order for me," I corrected him. "You once mentioned that time has to catch up with itself."
"I remember," Kai curtly remarked.
"Victoria, come to me," suddenly, I heard the Kai from my present time calling me.
"The future you is calling me," I uttered.
"Good, because I don't want you here," the past Kai rudely snapped.
"Why are you being such a jerk with me?" I yelled at him, but he turned his back on me.
"Ignore that other me, my love, and follow my voice," the Kai I was more fond of spoke delicately to me, and my mind started to drift from this nightmare.
I gasped for air as I woke up overlapped on Kai's lap and in his arms. "It's ok," he cooed as he was wiping a washcloth on my face as my babies were kicking inside my belly.
We were on the bathroom floor when I noticed the washcloth he used to clean me up with was covered in blood.
Once I caught my breath, I smacked his chest. "You jerk! How could you treat me like that!"
"I know. I wasn't in the right state of mind. I'm sorry." Kai rocked me as he dabbed my tears away with the washcloth.
After he carried me to my bedside, he got my medication, which looked like a tiny clear pearl gel drop. The pill is supposed to help stop my time gap and keep my brain from sustaining any damage, but sometimes I question if it's working because my time gaps keep occurring.
After swallowing the tiny bead-like pill with the glass of water he gave me, I handed the glass back to him, and he placed it on my nightstand.
"Feeling better?" he asked, sitting next to me.
"I'm disappointed that I couldn't change anything," I muttered, and Kai sighed, taking my hand into his.
"It's not your past to change, my love. I made that mistake by falling into despair because I couldn't wait for your birth. I'm the one who failed to protect you from Orlando. I failed to raise you like I should've done." Kai expressed, showing the greatest empathy in his eyes.
"What's the point of me having this wasted gift of time when I can't make anything better between us?" I frown.
Kai lifted my chin towards him, and then he uttered. "Things are better between us. Just because you can't change the past doesn't mean your gift is a waste because one day, as a vampiress, you'll unlock the full potential of your gift."
"Like what?" I removed his hand from my chin and inquired with a sarky attitude.
Kai chuckled, then he explained. "You'll be able to open the gateway walls of time and walk through history in your physical form as a ghost no one will see, but not only will you be able to do that. You can also take anyone you wish to travel in time with you. You will no longer feel the pain in your head, and the pressure from the gravity pull won't harm you anymore. You'll be unstoppable."
"What is so special about traveling to the past if I still can't change anything? Nobody will be able to see me from the past, so I can't see how that could make me unstoppable." I declared since it made no sense to me. Although I loved history, so it would be marvelous to watch history unfold before my eyes.
"Think about it. Holding that kind of power would make anyone invincible. Vampires can take thousands or millions of years to strategize their plans to take over another Coven. If I had your power to open the right time wall and be a time traveler of history, I could take over the Vampire Covenant in the future if I wished. I could destroy any Coven I wanted." Kai explained, and it suddenly dawned on me as if lightning struck the memory core in my brain.
"Do you feel history should be forgotten like it never existed?" I remembered one particular question a vampire asked me at the Masked Ball. I was asked so many questions that night, but that one question stood out to me from the rest.
To my uttermost shock, I blurted, "Oh, my gosh! I could go back to the past of our enemies and learn about all their future war plans. Anything I discovered would be vital information to be ahead of the enemy's plan."
"Precisely, after you learn how to use your time-gap, we could go back in time and learn everything about our enemies and destroy them by already knowing their plans beforehand. Or even learn where their resting place is. If they are in their detained slumber," Kai confirmed.
"That's what Orlando and his family will do with my gift," I frowned. "This is how I'll make any Coven the most powerful one of all."
"It's one of the reasons why. If Orlando takes me down and marries you. I'd imagine he'd use your time-gap to his full advantage after he taught you how to unlock each level of it. Orlando and his family would wipe out every Coven they hated," Kai revealed, and I hated to think about it.
"I shouldn't be granted the ability to carry this kinda power," I frowned. "I'd rather use my gift to teach my vamp children about history since I can take them with me. We can travel throughout history together as a family."
Kai whispered, kissing the side of my head. "Your heart is too pure and innocent."
"Promise me that you won't abuse my gift for warfare," I begged, hugging him.
Kai declared as he held me. "Only if we don't have to, but I promise I won't abuse it."
"What are the other reasons why I'd make any Coven the most powerful?" my curiosity inquired once I remembered what he said.
"One step at a time, my love. I don't want to reveal too much in one night." Kai whispered into my ear before he kissed it.
"This is why the gift is killing me," I uttered at the realization.
As of now, my mind mentally travels while my body stays where I am at in the present. Naturally, the gift alone is too powerful for me to control as a puny human, so it rips into my mind. As a vampiress, I'll be able to physically walk through a time wall to the past as a time traveler. Similar to how Alphas can open gateways to other worlds. I'll open a gateway to the past as a historical time traveler.
"That's precisely why, my love. It only shows how strong you'll be as a vampiress." Kai uttered, rubbing my back. "Let's take a nap. College starts in a few hours."
