Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

Milky stood outside the apartment like a guard dog. It's been ten minutes and she was getting bored.

The suddenly opens and the atmosphere around Mrs. Dumas is happy. "I apologize for asking you to wait outside," she said softly.

Milky grins and scratches the back of her head. "It's fine, Mrs. Dumas," she said. "But can I get your autograph, my parents are huge fans of you."

"Sure," Mrs. Dumas said smiling sweetly.

Milky jumps in excitement. "Thank you," she said running inside the house, not looking at Ezra and Arthur, taking her fanciest notebook and phone then running back outside.

"Here you go," Milky said excitedly.

Mrs. Dumas smiled, contented to sign an autograph despite being able to act since she gave birth. She puts her signature on the notebook and hands it back to Milky.

"Can I also get a picture with you?" she asked politely.

"Sure," Mrs. Dumas said. Milky walked to her, leaned in close to her, and took a selfie, immediately sending it to her parents.

"Thank you very much," she said.

"You're very welcome!"

"I love your mum," Milky said to Arthur when she was done teaching them and they were both leaving.

"What?" Arthur said in a bit of disgust, looking at Milky as if he was looking at a weirdo.

"Not in that way!" Milky shouted defensively.

Arthur doesn't believe her. "I'm not into people more than two years older or younger than me, I'm also not a homewrecker," Milky said angrily crossing her arms.

"We can never know," Arthur said shrugging.

"You can be such a d***, you know that right?" Milky said blankly.

"No, I'm not," he replies. "I just don't like a lot of people that aren't Ezra."

Milky huffs at him. "You make me cringe," she said. She then remembers something that she wanted to ask. "So did you and Ezra do it?" she asked bluntly.

Arthur was confused. "Do what?" he asked.

She gives him the 'Do I need to explain?' look. Arthur's eyes widened when he realized what she was talking about. "You are so dirty-minded," he said.

She rolls at him. "So you didn't do it?" she asked.

"Of course not!" Arthur exclaimed. They got downstairs and walked outside the apartment. "That's for a more romantic occasion," he said.

Milky raised an eyebrow at him and laughed at him patting his back hard. "Who knew you were such a lover boy!" she said, making fun of him.

Arthur was a bit embarrassed. "There's nothing wrong with that," he said defensively.

Milky had agreed with that. "There's nothing wrong with that," she repeats after him. She wishes she thought of that before letting go of hers in her past relationship.

Arthur didn't say any other thing he just waited for a while and the car arrived. "Are you going to give me a ride to the bus stop?" Milky asked hopefully.

Arthur laughed as if he heard a funny joke. "We're rivals, not best friends, find the way yourself," he said entering the car.

"And my love is alone in the apartment, nothing is stopping me from going back in there to be with him," Milky said sassily.

Arthur paused mid-way into the car, he squinted his eyes at her, while she smiled sweetly. "Just enter the car," he said angrily, getting out of the car and holding the door for her.

Milky clapped happily and stepped into the car. Unknown to them, a picture of the both of them was taken just as she entered the car with Arthur standing outside the car.

When Arthur gets to his apartment, he receives a call, he takes a look at his phone to see who it is. 'Him'

Arthur sneers when he sees the caller and drops his phone, refusing to pick up the call. When it stops ringing, he picks up his phone again. 'I should call Ezra,' he thought when he received another call.

This time around it was from Ezra. "Hello?" he said in a cheerfully.

"Are you home already?" Ezra asked from the other end of the phone.

"Yes," Arthur replies sitting on his couch and relaxing a bit.

"Oh," Ezra replies. "Did you take Milky home?" he asked.

"No, dropped her off at the bus stop," Arthur replies.

"Isn't that dangerous?"

'Is it dangerous?' Arthur thought. "I don't think so?" he replied in a questioning voice.

Ezra sighed a bit. "You are unbelievable," he said.

"And you love that about me," Arthur said smugly.

"Not really, no."

Arthur felt his world shatter. He lets out a small, pitiful, "What?"

Ezra laughed a bit. "I was joking," he said.

"Well that wasn't nice," Arthur said sadly.

Ezra doesn't apologize to him. "So Mrs. Dumas is going to file for a divorce in a few months, huh?" he said.

Arthur couldn't tell what Ezra was feeling, so he asked, "Is there something wrong?"

"No, no. It's just that... Are you going to be alright with that?"

'He is concerned about me? What about him?' Arthur thought visibly frowning. "I'm not concerned about what happens within the Dumas family," he said honestly. "If she wants to get a divorce then that's fine with me."

"Oh," Ezra said, he sounded a bit disappointed. This worried Arthur a bit.

He clears his throat a bit and asked, "Are you okay with the divorce?"

"Yes, I am!" Ezra replied almost immediately. "I waited for years for that to happen. I always thought it was because of love she didn't want to leave," he said, his voice was cracking a bit. "I never knew it was that!"

Arthur could tell Ezra was angry, he's never been angry before. "I'm a bit worried," Ezra said.

"Why?" Arthur asked out of concern.

"We are in a relationship now, but I don't think Mr. Dumas would be happy about it."

He was a bit angry, but he understood why Ezra was worried about his father. "It doesn't matter," he said in a slightly firm voice. "He wouldn't interfere with anything as long as he still has a heir to take over his business."

He could almost see Ezra pursing his lips. "Ezra listen," he said softly. "I love you, and I don't want you to worry about unnecessary things, trust me when I say we'll be alright, okay?"

Ezra doesn't say anything for a while. "Okay," he said relying on Arthur's words.

"Do you want to pinky swear on it tomorrow when we meet again?"

Ezra burst out laughing. "You are childish, Arthur," he said, as his laughter subsided.

Arthur smiled hearing him laughing. "Arthur."

"Hm," he hums in response.

"I love you too," Ezra said.

"Of course," Arthur responded then the call ended. 'I promise you won't worry about anything, Ezra.'
