Chapter 71 - Melvin Match

Conrad had manifested his awakened power. The manifestation of his ability was truly formidable. From Conrad's hands, large, blazing claws materialized, wreathed in vibrant flames. These were no ordinary claws; they were <>, an awakened ability that bestowed upon Conrad the destructive force of fire, channelled through the razor-sharp appendages covering his hands.

The manifestation was a sight to behold. The fire that compressed to form claws danced with an ethereal brilliance, casting an intense glow in the arena. The claws, formed of pure flame, crackled and flickered, exuding a searing heat that distorted the air around them. The flames swirled and contoured, creating a dynamic display that hinted at the immense power held within Conrad's awakened ability.

Conrad, now armed with his fiery appendages, assumed a stance that exuded both confidence and predatory readiness. On the other side of the arena, Melvin had yet to make a move that suggested any kind of manifestation of his ability. His calm demeanour showed his confidence in himself and the audience was left in suspense.

Sia, watching the unfolding spectacle, said with confidence. "Melvin is gonna win this match easily," she declared.

John also agreed with Sia."Yes he would win for sure"

"How can you say so" Ahiro inquired.

"You have never seen Melvin fight, right?" he inquired of Ahiro.

Ahiro nodded, admitting, "Well, it's actually my first time to see him."

"Then you are in for a show," John remarked, a glint of anticipation in his eyes.

The arena crackled with the contrasting energies of fire and anticipation, setting the stage for a clash of awakened abilities that promised both spectacle and strategy. As the drone above captured every moment, the audience, including Ahiro, prepared to witness the unique combat styles of both duelists.

The drone began its countdown—1, 2, 3, go—an announcement that initiated a cascade of colourful manifestations across each arena. The air crackled with the energy of awakened abilities, and the duels commenced with a flurry of movement and tactics.

Ahiro focused his attention on Arena 2, where Conrad and Melvin's match had now started. Conrad, armed with his formidable <>, launched himself at Melvin with the intent to strike. The fiery appendages left trails of vivid flames as he closed the distance between them.

Melvin, however, finally made his move. With an almost nonchalant demeanour, he raised his right hand, leaving his left hand casually tucked in his pocket. His gaze locked onto Conrad, and in a blink, a bolt of lightning shot forth from Melvin's outstretched finger. The electrifying surge connected with Conrad, coursing through him and causing him to convulse. In a matter of moments, Conrad collapsed, writhing like a fish out of water before eventually succumbing to unconsciousness.

The swift and decisive victory left the onlookers stunned. Arena 2's match had concluded in less than a minute, a testament to the efficiency and power of Melvin's awakened ability.

As the realization of Melvin's strength dawned on Ahiro, a memory resurfaced. It was the recollection of their first meeting in the forest when Melvin had casually mentioned beating every student he encountered and accumulating more badges than necessary on the first day itself.

"He is strong," Ahiro spoke aloud, the words resonating with a mix of awe and newfound respect.

"We know," Sia agreed, the acknowledgement accompanied by a shared sense of pride.

As the echoes of the electrifying duel in Arena 2 settled, Ahiro, Sia, John, and Emily gathered outside the arena to congratulate Melvin on his impressive victory. The atmosphere buzzed with a mixture of excitement and admiration as Melvin basked in the shared pride of his friends.

"Thanks for the support, guys," Melvin acknowledged with a grin, appreciating the camaraderie that fueled the encouragement.

However, Melvin's expression quickly shifted to one of urgency. "But we need to do something quickly," he added, a hint of determination in his voice. The abrupt change in tone prompted a curious glance from the group.

"What do you mean?" Ahiro inquired, his curiosity piqued.

Melvin, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, leaned in and whispered, "We need to quickly go to the Mess, as we have no diet-based food for this whole week." His wide smile and the unexpected shift in the conversation drew surprised laughter from the group.

"Wait, what?" Sia responded a mix of confusion and amusement on her face.

Melvin chuckled, revealing the playful nature behind his earlier urgency. "I might have overstated it a bit. But seriously, after such a match, I'm famished, and I need a good meal to celebrate!"

With shared laughter, the group made their way to the Mess, ready to enjoy a well-deserved meal and savour the camaraderie that accompanied their victories and shared challenges at Valorius Academy.

Since they had a whole 2 hours before, Sia's match would start, thanks to Melvin finishing his match in a minute, thus everyone decided to go their separate ways and meet before the match started. Ahiro decided to head back to the Training hall. Finding a place at a corner of the hall, Ahiro then picked up a dummy spear and started practising his basic moves. He would mix some combination of the specialised moves the sensai had taught him, but would not perform the whole routine as he was aware that anyone around could be his next potential opponent.

Ahiro was deep in his practice sweat ran down his face, his face filled with determination as he slashed the air followed by a clean stab, completing another set of basic spear practice routines. he checked the time on his clock and found he had a little over 30 minutes before Sia's match. Thus he decided to head to the changing room for a quick shower and then made his way to the arena.

Looking around he found that he was the first one to reach the stadium, he checked that Sia would have a match in Arena 4, and finding a good spot where he could watch the match with others he took the seat. Since he had time in hand he decided to see the other matches. those who win could be his future opponents so knowing about them could be crucial.

As the whistle blew the challengers of the next round of dual appeared. Ahiro was excited to see if he could learn from his classmates and more excited to see various abilities in action.
