She was on her knees, crying her emotions out. She was hugging herself; she was so scared.
The vampires went out to her room and promised her that they wouldn't let that happen again.
She was scared as hell; she didn't even call for help earlier. She was too stunned and scared to even call for help.
"M-Mom..." She called out her mom in a whisper, hoping that her mom was still there to tell her that it was okay and that she was there to protect her.
She felt something cold slowly hugging her; her eyes were full of tears, and she couldn't see clearly who was hugging her.
"I'm sorry..." It was Prince Elon's voice, his natural, cold voice.
He hugged her tightly; her knee felt weak and she completely gave up.
Her muscles were shaking, and she couldn't help herself.
She was having a panic attack.
"Shh, I'm here. I'm sorry. I won't take my eyes off of you again. I'm sorry." He hugged her tightly, and even though his body was cold, she felt warm.
She felt his cold lips on her forehead; he was caressing her hair, calming her down.
"I-It wasn't your fault... H-He smelled my blood. I triggered my wound... He smelled it." She told him, completely not knowing why.
"Your lips were bitten by me; it was my fault, yet I didn't know the consequences. I almost put you in danger!" He hissed, still so careful.
She let herself be hugged by him. This was the first time she felt safe with someone she didn't fully know.
They stayed like that for—she didn't know how long— He let her calm down for a moment.
"I was so scared..." She confessed. "I thought... I'm going to die, right here."
"My people won't let that happen; I won't let that happen. They sensed the dark vampire earlier; even though he's more powerful than my people, he still can't hide his presence."
Right! She must be thankful; his people came on time.
If they didn't show up, she's there lying dead.
"Y-Yeah..."
"Can I lay you to your bed? You need to rest." She looked at her window. What if the dark vampire came back?
"I'll stay by your side." She slowly looked at him; his eyes were sincere. She felt an ache in her heart; she didn't know where that was coming from.
She nodded and looked away.
Prince Elon slowly helped her get up. He even checked her body first before guiding her to her bed.
"Do you feel any pain?" She slowly shook her head.
"Just my head." Elon nodded and immediately held her elbows.
With just a blink of her eyes, she's in bed.
"Don't worry, I'll double the guards." She lies on her side, watching Prince Elon, who's watching her too.
"What did he want from me?" She asked, slowly closing her eyes.
"He wants you because he knows that you're mine." Even though she closed her eyes, she still raised her eyebrows.
"What do you mean he doesn't want to just suck my blood?"
She heard him take a long breath. "Dellom was my ultimate rival ever since; we didn't get a chance to attack each other's kingdom until he crossed the boundaries." He explained.
"He almost killed me, though."
"He won't kill you; he'll take you, and you will be his wife instead." She opened her eyes and met Elon's eyes. He was staring at her.
"He wants everything that I have."
"If he was your rival for a long time, why didn't you two end up attacking each other's kingdom? He's a dark vampire." She was conscious because Elon was staring at her so intently.
"He was my half brother." She was shocked by that information.
The first time she met that dark vampire, Prince Elon told him that he crossed the boundaries. What does that mean? Is there a boundary to their kingdom? Or just an ethical boundary?
"You're a dark vampire?" Prince Elon's hand reached her hair; she was stunned by the sudden movement.
"I am a full-blooded vampire. His mother was a dark vampire. The first war that ever happened was when Dellom was born. My father, the king, had an affair with the dark vampire's queen. My mother was in range and called for a war. Plenty of vampires got killed, and when Dellom grew up, he was rebellious and the worst version of his mother. Until my mother's last breath, she never forgiven the king."
So the prince never had a perfect family? Even though he's a prince, has he never experienced a happy life? For so long—for how many years? He suffered for so many years.
"Dellom wanted my kingdom, maybe because he thought he was the older one. But this kingdom was my mother's. This was the only thing that my mother left to me. I also promised her that I wouldn't let the kingdom fall down." She was listening intently; she didn't want to miss anything. She wants to be aware. She wants to know everything.
"How about the deity? Your mother is the deity?" Elton looked away.
"No. She was someone else." She was curious about that, if the deity wasn't his mother.
Then who's the deity? And what's her connection to the barrier that was made a long time ago?
"You need to rest, Bailey." She pouted; she wanted to hear more.
"I'm not sleepy anymore." She lied; of course she was sleepy! She just wanted to hear more. She wants to know more.
"Your eyes are sleepy, don't lie. I'll be here, don't worry." She's not worrying; to be honest, she almost forgot about what happened earlier. She just wanted to know more about the vampires.
"Why did you choose me to be your wife?"
"Because I want." She raised her eyebrows.
"You had a lot of years; why did you choose me instead? Or did you have a wife before me?"
"You're the first one."
