Having a 100% demonic bloodline mix from a single lineage makes one a Demon King. If that's the case, what should Mike be called—someone who has 120% of a demonic bloodline? Demon Emperor? Demon God? He has no idea what he should be called but is fully aware of how powerful he is.
Why does a 70% demon stand no chance against a 100% Demon King? The reason is simple: Demon Kings have access to legendary bloodline spells, while other demons do not. Even demons with 99% effective bloodline purity can only kneel before a Demon King.
Some items can increase demons' effective blood purity by reducing conflicts among their bloodlines, but to truly increase one's bloodline purity, the only way is to collect the desired bloodline and then expel a conflicting bloodline from the body to make room and replace it with the desired one. In practice, this process is so difficult and time-consuming that it is nearly impossible, even for demons, to significantly increase their bloodline purity.
Those fortunate enough to be born with 100% of the same lineage's bloodline become Demon Kings. As for others, they have very little to no chance of ever achieving that status.
Mike immediately gained access to his bloodline's legendary spells, but deep down, he could feel a far more terrifying power lurking within him. He could sense it but not control it. Clearly, to master this power, he would need to work hard and train.
"Let's call it a Divine Spell!" Mike thought.
He had already tested his strength. A few years ago, he witnessed a Demon King in action from afar and was lucky enough to teleport away in time before being killed. That Demon King now would be like a child in front of him. A child can hurt and even kill an adult, but obviously, an adult would have a huge advantage in a fight. This is Mike's current power, much stronger than demon kings, but not really invincible. Once he gains the ability to cast Divine spells, though, even Demon Kings will become like ants to him.
"It's just a pity that my lifespan didn't increase even after all of this," he thought, looking desperately at the 36/100 phase and sighing deeply.
Thinking of the future, he decided to return to human civilization before planning what to do next. He cast a flight spell and shot toward human civilization at a speed far exceeding that of sound.
…
The guards at the gate saw a man approaching on foot. To get this close, the man must have a permission token; otherwise, the outer formations would have blocked him. Even if he somehow managed to remain hidden from the formation, the many soldiers patrolling the area near the gate would have caught him.
In all, anyone nearing the gate like this is either a high-ranking person with a permission token or a very powerful demon who killed all the patrolling soldiers without the formations detecting it.
As the man approached, the soldiers saw his face and relaxed. It was their commander, who had left a few days ago.
The man stopped and said, "I lost my entrance token; trigger the backup entrance option."
To avoid demon infiltration, human civilization developed entrance tokens. Every person who leaves the wall must have one. It records video, magical details, energy flow, and other information within a 100-meter radius for as long as the person remains outside the wall. It must be handed over to the gate's guard, who would then cast a spell on it to check for any issues. If the spell clears it, the gate will be opened, and the person will be allowed in.
Mike didn't want them to know he had turned into a demon beyond even the Demon Kings, so he simply destroyed the entrance token. Even at his level, he still couldn't hack the entrance token's main formation. It wouldn't be used as a means of stopping infiltration if it were easy to hack.
For Mike, not having the entrance token made it much harder, but not impossible, to enter. He would have to go through two layers of tests, but he was confident he could pass them all. His legendary disguise spell was no joke.
The chief of the guards at the gate found it strange that General Mike lost his token, but he still followed regulations and went to call another, higher-ranking guard.
After 10 minutes, a woman with blue-dyed hair arrived. She was the ultimate commander of this gate, holding the rank of Major.
"General Mike, you know the process. Move to that red door on the side and go in; it's not locked. As long as you can come out of that blue door on the other side, you'll be allowed to proceed to the second phase."
Mike sighed and went to the red door, opened it, and entered.
The red door led to a separate space with an amplified formation covering it: the Expose Demons Formation. Anyone with over 50% demonic blood who enters triggers the alarm. Its power is amplified and can even expose Demon Kings.
Fortunately for Mike, his Lone Wolf bloodline's legendary spell is one of the best for disguise. With the boost he received from his amplification skill and having a purity of 120%, he easily passed the test and came out of the blue door.
After exiting from the blue door, he walked toward the gate. The guards, seeing he had passed the red door test, opened it and allowed him to enter. Even after entering, the wall's forcefield wouldn't still work against intruders. If he had lied and was actually a demon, the Major in command could immediately use the wall's forcefield to suppress him.
The Great Wall's forcefield is active throughout all human lands within it. The field's energy can quickly be transferred from one place to another and is extremely flexible. Its total power can severely hurt a Demon King or even kill one if they fail to use their legendary spell.
A few guards came, saluted, and then accompanied Mike to a room not too far from the wall. Mike opened the door and went in.
Inside the room was a mirror. Suddenly, his image in the mirror distorted, and another man appeared on it.
Mike knew about this mirror, which is called the Video Call Mirror. Anyone who looks into it is seen by the person on the other side, where the main mirror is placed.
The man on the other side of the mirror was one of the strongest humans, with a 15% demon blood mix and 5% effective blood purity. Unlike Mike, he didn't go through leadership school. Nowadays, he mostly works at the communications headquarters, facilitating secure communication lines among different armies. One of his side duties is confirming the identity of those who request entry through the second method.
"General Mike! It's disturbing to see you like this! Okay, let me quickly confirm your identity; drop one drop of blood and put it in the box below," the man in the mirror said.
Mike nodded and did as asked. The surest way to confirm one's identity is by testing their blood. But again, Mike was confident in his legendary spell.
The box was also a magic item. Whatever was placed inside would teleport to the location of the main box.
The man in the mirror carefully took the blood sample and cast a few spells on it. Then, he gave the sample to someone who went to test the blood right away. Usually, the staff at the communication headquarters are busy, so testing the blood takes a long time—maybe an entire day. But Mike was a two-star general, so they immediately tested his blood.
The results arrived a few minutes later. It was negative. They confirmed Mike was the real person and not a Demon King in disguise.
"I hope you won't take it personally, General Mike, but according to regulations, you must provide a naked, 360-degree picture of the surface and inside of your body before you can enter."
Mike already knew this, so he got naked and said, "Take the picture!"
The room shone, capturing the image. It went into his files. If someone who shouldn't have access to his file obtained it, they could see his naked body. Still, it's rare for anyone to be interested in the naked bodies of men. It's possible there are some perverted female or gay male fans who want to see his nudes, but overall, setting aside a few celebrities like Mike, female mages have far more to "worry" when it comes to this part.
"It's done, General. Open the box and take the new entrance token we provided!"
Mike opened the box and took the token. After thanking the man in the mirror, he turned around and left.
…
It took half a day to reach the headquarters of defense. When he left, he thought he would never return, so he didn't take any time off. From their perspective, the Coordinator of Defense of the Great Wall just disappeared, which probably caused a lot of commotion. Mike already sensed the odd gaze the man in the mirror sent his way.
He had some explaining to do...
