Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Unwanted guest

I stood at the back of the church, watching as the guests filed in for my father's funeral. My heart was heavy with grief, but I couldn't help feeling a sense of annoyance at the unwanted guest who had just arrived.

My mother, Mrs Romano, was standing next to her best friend, Mrs Gonzales. Mrs Gonzales had always been more of a mother to me than my own mother. My mother was so consumed by her love for my father that she didn't have any love left to extend to her children.

I missed my father terribly, but I also missed my brother, Mathias. He had been missing in action since our father's death, and no one knew where he was.

As the funeral service began, I couldn't help but think about how different things would have been if my father were still alive. He would have never allowed this unwanted guest to attend his funeral.

But now, with him gone, it seemed like anything was possible. My mother was making decisions without consulting anyone, and I had a feeling that this unwanted guest was just the beginning.

Tears streamed down my face as I thought about all the memories I had shared with my father. He had always been there for me, supporting me and guiding me through life's challenges.

And now he was gone, leaving a void in my heart that could never be filled.

As the service ended and we made our way to the cemetery, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me. What other surprises did my mother have in store for us?

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Mrs Gonzales standing beside me. "It's going to be okay," she said softly, giving me a reassuring smile.

I nodded, grateful for her support. But deep down, I knew that nothing would ever be the same again.

I glanced at the unwanted guest his face lacked emotion but he still managed to look good, idiot, He definitely still found a way to get attention. I ignored everything and walked further into the cemetery.
