Scarlet was in a room with no windows and there was an officer sitting in front of her, only separated by a wide table. The officer had been talking, but Scarlet had not been listening. Her only thought was on Melanie and what had happened to her family. She wanted to know why her parents body were wrapped up to their face. She didn't want to think they were dead. She didn't want to think about what could have happened to Melanie. It was all too much for her to bear and she wanted to get out of this place. If she could, she would tear down the building and run off in search for her only best friend.
But then, she felt it was her fault. Melanie's father must have tried to reach her and it hurt her that she never got to see him before now. Maybe if she had visited them and talked to him, something could have changed and this wouldn't have happened. All she was trying to do was help. Was it her fault now that she helped bring her father home?
