"I can't believe this. I'm not even prepared to get a needle into my skin. Ugh!" Melanie groaned and complained silently while sitting beside Scarlet in class.
The teacher's voice was audible enough for the class to hear as he taught his subject but Scarlet blocked every sound from interrupting her thought. Her only focus was on one thing—one person.
Why did he have to show up now when she was not looking forward to seeing him? Why now of all times when she finally decided to take him off her mind and live like the person everyone knows?
Scarlet sat in the lunchroom with Melanie and they were soon joined by Harper and Johan. They all greeted each other and ate in silence until Harper spoke;
"I don't think we've officially met."
She was talking to Melanie who sat at her front and concentrated on the food.
"I guess someone forgot to introduce me," Melanie replied her without raising her eyes.
