Just as Scarlet was choking Maeve, she sensed someone enter the bookshop and she sensed danger. She swiftly turned, stepping to the side and using Maeve as shield when she suddenly heard a great cry erupt from her lips as she now moved her eyes to look at her arm where a knife now struck.
Scarlet turned her head to see a boy heading directly for her and she quickly let go of Maeve to now land a swift blow at him as he approached with fury and it knocked him down to the ground. Scarlet didn't give him the chance to move himself as she was already on top of him, grabbing him by the collar and glaring down at him with red eyes.
"You must be Ren," she said to him and she saw the look of dread in his eyes as she raised a hand and was about to land another blow on his face.
"Please!" Maeve begged from where she was, still in pain as the knife was still stuck in her arm and she was bleeding. "Don't hurt him. I'm begging you," she pleaded with tears in her eyes.
