Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 14: ABOVE THE DECK

The world we inhabit is a tapestry woven with diverse and intriguing individuals. Within this intricate fabric, some have been blessed with opulence, while others struggle in poverty. It is the clash of social forces that brings equilibrium to our society, ensuring a delicate balance. However, if the less fortunate were to vanish, who would assume their place? Such a scenario would disrupt the harmony between the rich and the poor.

In the grand expanse of the British Empire, a thriving community flourishes, encompassing both aristocrats and commoners. Here, a perfect equilibrium is maintained. Aboard the majestic Titanic, a physical barrier segregates the wealthy from the underprivileged. Discrimination perpetuates a divisive narrative, one that continues to criticize those with wealth and those without.

On Wednesday, the 10th of April, the dock of Southampton bustled with thousands of people hailing from different corners of the British Isles. All were captivated by the sight of the grand Titan ship, deemed unsinkable. Amidst the vibrant atmosphere, emotions mingled, giving birth to both joy and tears, as loved ones faced the imminent separation.

From the palace, as the queen beheld her creation preparing for its maiden voyage, a sense of apprehension overcame her. "Alas, the world shall bear witness to the true nature of power. Regrettably, it comes at a steep cost." Only 15 minutes remained before the ship would embark on its journey.

Caleb, Tristan, and Nicollette hurriedly boarded the vessel, embarking on their own personal odyssey. As they traversed the ship, they witnessed the stark contrasts in values and virtues, witnessing the discrimination perpetrated based on social class.

"You are not welcome here, you filthy raccoons!"

"Return to your coal mines and manufacture trains!"

"This cruise is not meant for the likes of you; you will only soil my fine garments!"

"What a waste of tea!"

Fortunately, the three companions possessed tickets granting them access to the elite class. Nonetheless, they felt disheartened by the attitudes of their fellow passengers.

"Is this truly how aristocrats conduct themselves?"

"I would rather be a commoner than adopt such behavior."

With only 5 minutes until the RMS Titanic set sail for America, the three friends entered their luxurious cabin and began unpacking their belongings.

"Is this truly our room? I can hardly fathom its elegance," exclaimed Nicollette.

"The bed alone surpasses any I have ever reclined upon," she added.

"Tristan, look! A bathtub! I have always yearned to experience one," Caleb exclaimed.

"Observe these paintings. Now, that is art!" Tristan marveled.

"Although, I believe I could surpass them," he proclaimed.

At precisely 12 noon, the ship commenced its voyage. Caleb, Tristan, and Nicollette rushed to the stern, bidding farewell to those left behind.

"Goodbye, farewell!"

"You shall be missed!"

As the ship ventured farther into the open sea, tranquility settled upon the waters. The three companions decided to explore the ship's deck on their own. Nicollette ventured to the renowned bow of the vessel.

"Behold the sheer beauty! Look at those dolphins. Finally, I am savoring the life I deserve."

"Admiring the dolphins, I see... Did you know dolphins cannot breathe underwater? Like humans, they are mammals," a mysterious man interjected as he approached Nicollette.

"Pleasure to meet you, madam. I am Gabriel."

"Hello, Gabriel. No need for formality; I am not an aristocrat," Nicollette replied.

"I did not inquire about your social standing, my gracious one. My intentions extend beyond superficial matters," Gabriel flirtatiously responded.

"Thank you, Gabriel, but I have no intentions of entering another romantic entanglement," Nicollette firmly stated.

"Indeed, Ms. Nicollette, my intentions are more profound. Since we boarded the ship, I have observed you closely. Allow me the opportunity to know you better," Gabriel replied.

"Very well, but let us be clear. I cannot be yours, for my heart already belongs to another," Nicollette declared.

"I understand, Ms. Nicollette. In that case, let me give you a tour of the ship," Gabriel agreed.

Hand in hand, Gabriel and Nicollette embarked on an exploration of the vessel, engaging in lively conversations along the way. Nicollette was delighted to discover that Gabriel respected her boundaries and, struck by an idea, she decided to introduce him to Caleb and Tristan.

"Gabriel, I know you may not hold much fondness for our group, but would you like to meet my friends? I believe you would find common ground with them," Nicollette proposed with modesty.

"Of course, it would be my pleasure to meet your friends," Gabriel graciously accepted.

The two made their way toward Deck C, where Tristan and Caleb were situated.

As they descended, Nicollette couldn't help but notice the genuine humility and sincerity radiating from Gabriel. Unaffected by social status or appearances, he valued the simple joy of companionship. A grin spread across Nicollette's face as they continued their descent to Deck C.
