Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 18: THE HALF-PARTY

"I no longer find favor in this, Quentin. Don't you think it has gone too far?" Lady May gently expressed her concerns to Prince Quentin. "It's been years, and I seem to be deteriorating."

"Don't worry, May. I promise you, I'll find a cure," Prince Quentin reassured her. "You'll get better soon. Remember, you'll always be my Queen."

"I know, Quentin, but given my condition, I fear my time is limited," Lady May sobbed.

"Don't say that, May," Prince Quentin said tenderly as he drew nearer to her. "Stay strong, and let's face this together. The new world holds boundless possibilities, and I am certain there's a cure for your illness out there. Have hope."

Lady May's mind drifted as she looked around their cabin filled with precious necklaces, rings, and rare artifacts. Her illness had left her feeling helpless, weak, and struggling to walk. Despite seeking medical help, a permanent cure remained elusive. Among the necklaces, she picked one that held cherished memories—the necklace Prince Quentin received from her mother.

"Darling, do you remember this necklace?" Lady May asked Prince Quentin. "It was a gift from my mother to you. The story of how she found it is quite intriguing; have I shared it with you before?"

"No, you haven't, my love," Prince Quentin replied attentively. "I only recall you giving me this necklace the night after we met. I would be truly interested to know its history."

"Very well, my Prince," Lady May continued, delicately holding the necklace's intricate fibers. "My mother was a close friend and servant to the King, and she was delighted to learn of the arrival of the new prince and heir to the throne, you. The palace would now have more life and company. The day after your arrival, my mother prepared breakfast for Queen Winsley and you.

When she saw you wearing the necklace, she was taken aback by its beauty. However, the Queen didn't seem pleased. My mother assumed she might have been going through a difficult time after giving birth to you. She served the meal and gave you and the Queen some time to rest. Later as she was about to leave, she heard the Queen call her.

"Astana, please take this necklace away," the Queen uttered. My mother obeyed, but instead of discarding such a beautiful necklace, she kept it for herself. She wouldn't be able to live if such beautiful necklace would be left to waste

Later on when my mother gave birth to me, she gifted it to me, telling me that I was the most precious thing in her life. As I grew older, she shared the necklace's backstory, and I had always planned to return it to you someday. When fate brought us together, I knew it was meant to be, and I gave you back the necklace. That moment felt so fulfilling, and it solidified our destiny."

Lady May smiled as she recounted the tale, and Prince Quentin felt grateful to have such a special lady in his life. Overwhelmed with emotion, he hugged Lady May tightly and kissed her lovingly.

Suddenly, a knock came from the door and the lovers were interrupted. It was Beverly the servant and acquaintance of Lady May. "Lady May, your dress is ready for wearing…" Beverly said. She felt a tingle of embarrassment as she noticed that she was intruding the privacy of the Prince. "Oh, I'm so sorry… Carry on." Beverly said as she closed the door behind her.

Lady May looked at her best friend in the most awkward way possible, then gave her the signal to come back later. As Beverly made her way out she winked back at her best friend and chuckled back to her room.

"I'll cherish this necklace forever, wearing it with pride as a symbol of our union," Prince Quentin declared. "My darling, I love you…"

The couple continued to express their emotions and shared affectionate kisses throughout the night.

Meanwhile, the preparations for the grand event were underway. Caleb, Nicollette, Tristan, and Gabriel readied themselves, looking stunning in their elegant attire. Caleb was mesmerized by Nicollette's beauty, and he felt his feelings for her deepening.

"Hey! Hey! Caleb! Are you alright? It looks like you just saw a goddess." Nicollette said modestly as she laughed at Caleb's face.

"You look beautiful Nicollette," Gabriel uttered, fixing his hair in an awkward manner.

"Thank you Gabriel," Nicollette replied. "I can say you also look ravishing tonight."

Caleb stood silently as he was bewildered by Nicollettes beauty. At that moment Caleb felt deeper and deeper to the feelings he developed for her friend Nicollette.
