The sound of a lighter could also be heard from the other end of the phone, followed by Mason Hawkins' unhurried voice,
"Your mom met with Gabriel White's wife a few days before her death. My men found a waiter who worked at the cafe back then, but he couldn't remember the details of their conversation. It seems like your mom accidentally got wind of some secret about the Whites, and then Gabriel's wife threatened and intimidated her. The situation was really ugly...
