Mason Hawkins, a man in his thirties, instantly understood what she meant by "marks." Without thinking, he said, "Impossible, Daniel wouldn't even touch a dirty woman like Anna Foster."
The man's blunt words made Amelia pause for a moment.
Right, Anna was that dirty. If it was to save her father... Amelia couldn't bear to continue the thought, and forced a wry smile, "That's true."
If Daniel really had any encounter with Anna for the sake of saving her father, she couldn't possibly blame him; she would have to be grateful instead.
