As a rich lady from the Select Society of Capital City, Kaitlyn Lan's daily exquisite life consisted of attending various tea parties with other rich ladies, participating in fashion weeks, and attending dinners organized by jewelry brands and other high-end brands; it was luxurious and fulfilling.
Lyra Smith rarely saw her mother at home.
She also rarely saw her father at home.
Although she was born in a family of six, living beyond the birth policy, she lived like a left-behind child.
"Mom, can you really cover for me?" Lyra asked cautiously.
Kaitlyn Lan raised her eyebrows and said confidently, "Of course, how much trouble can you cause? Just tell me, and I'll cover for you."
Lyra swallowed and confessed, "I have offended Morris Jackson."
Upon hearing this,
Kaitlyn Lan looked straight at Lyra with a visibly frightened expression.
Feeling her mother's gaze, Lyra started to panic and asked, "What's wrong, Mom? Can you handle this?"
Kaitlyn Lan clicked her tongue, calmly walked back to the sofa, sat down, and tidied her skirt. "Nothing much, just now my words don't count since I was possessed by a ghost. Don't take them seriously."
Lyra: "..."
These three words - Morris Jackson - seemed to work even better than the mention of natural disasters and ferocious beasts.
After all, Morris Jackson was all-powerful in San Carlos.
Kaitlyn Lan said, "Have you forgotten how I usually teach you? Be brave and fly; if something happens, bear the consequences yourself."
Lyra's heart tightened, and she decided to drop it, saying more would only bring a tear.
"I'm going upstairs." She turned around with a sad face.
"Go, go." Kaitlyn Lan waved her hand.
Lyra was preparing to go upstairs and lie down for a while to calm herself. As soon as she lay down, her phone rang.
She picked it up and saw that it was a call from Martin Jenkins.
Martin was her agent, but she was just one of many in his stable of talents.
Lyra's specialty was dancing. Having studied dance since she was a child, her qualifications could now get her a job as a dance teacher.
Anyway, she had no intention of inheriting the family business; she thought being a dance teacher would be nice, but she couldn't help feeling jealous of Erwin Jackson. Erwin had been doing well in the entertainment industry, and he would continue to do so for years to come. The distance between them seemed like a vast expanse, and she couldn't even enter his world, let alone his circle.
So, on a whim, she entered the entertainment industry.
She wanted to get closer to him.
She had only been signed to Martin for two months and had played a palace maid as an extra in a drama, but that was about it.
Martin didn't bother with her too much, as he had a hot artist and an artist in the ascendancy under his wing. He signed Lyra for her dancing foundation and good looks, fearing he would miss out on her while promoting other artists. At first, he arranged various performance classes for her, but later on, he couldn't handle it and just let her do her own thing.
Lyra answered the call, "Director Martin."
Without asking if she had time or if it was convenient, the call went straight to the point, "Pack your stuff tonight and come to the Film and Television City tomorrow; there's a job."
Lyra wanted to ask what kind of job it was.
Before she could ask him,
Martin said, "I'm busy now, and I can't explain everything on the phone. Just go to the set of 'Bright Moon' and find Master Eddie when you get to the Film and Television City tomorrow."
Bright Moon? Wasn't that the drama set where Erwin Jackson was currently filming?!
"But I..."
Lyra was cut off by Martin before she could finish her sentence, "Do you want to be famous or not?"
Martin was a very dominant agent, with no patience for indecisiveness or hesitation.
Lyra was almost speechless and said after a while, "Whether I become famous or not isn't something I can decide right now. And, Director Martin, my name is Lyra."
As her agent, he hadn't even fully remembered her name.
Call her whenever he needs her, that's what she was there for!
As for going to the Film and Television City, Lyra thought of Erwin Jackson; he should be returning to the country tonight, right? She should be able to see him tomorrow when she goes to the Film and Television City.
