As he returned to the counter, his registration was already completed and the receptionist greeted him with a beaming smile.
"You've arrived at the perfect time, your registration just finished and here's your guild card," she said, handing it over with care.
Kai placed the quest paper on the desk and grinned widely. "I'll take this one for now," he said to the receptionist.
When she saw his choice, she asked, "Are you sure? Most adventurers prefer to avoid this type of quest." "Yep, I want this one," Kai replied confidently.
The quest was to exterminate sewer rats in a local mine, not the most glamorous task, but it paid well - $100 per rat. It was an easy way to earn some money and practice his skills.
He wanted to explore the use of his Talent in new and different ways, so he attentively listened to all the rules and introductions from the receptionist before applying for the quest.
After hearing the detailed explanation about how adventurers worked, he bluntly stated, "So adventurers are basically unemployed odd job workers who run errands and do the jobs that others are too lazy or bored to do." The receptionist was startled and quickly covered his mouth with her slender hand.
"Shhh, you're not wrong, but please don't say it so casually. Otherwise, adventurers might take offense and create problems for you. Besides, this also creates new job opportunities for desk workers like us," she whispered.
"Hmm hmm," Kai nodded, enjoying the fragrance of her hand.
"Rosemary," he said nonchalantly.
The receptionist suddenly realized what she had done and pulled her hand back, a slight blush appearing on her cheek that she couldn't hide from his observant eyes.
"What's happened? Why is your face red?" Kai teased, poking her cheek. But before he could do more, the receptionist ran from the counter without looking back.
"That was really cute," Kai chuckled to himself as he left the adventurers guild, heading towards the quest location.
As the other adventurers saw him, they glared at his departing back, consumed by jealousy. A group of adventurers quickly formed behind him, their intentions easily sensed by Kai.
"Oh, she must have a lot of fans. Well, considering her looks, it's only natural," he thought with a smirk. It took Kai 15 minutes to reach the quest location.
When he arrived at the entrance of the mine, he immediately started running, and the group of adventurers trailing him followed suit. Once Kai was sure he had gone deep enough, he stopped and confused the pursuing adventurers.
"You're really quick on your feet, but that ends here," the leader of the group sneered. Kai glanced at their statuses and realized that, except for the leader, they were all weaklings. Even the leader was weaker than him.

"What can I expect from the second floor?" he thought.
"He doesn't seem like a player. Killing him won't be a problem," Kai said casually, loud enough for the group of adventurers to hear.
"Cocky brat!" Rigurd charged at Kai with his sword, but before he could reach him, he slipped and fell face-first to the ground. Without hesitation, Kai enveloped his sword with mana, this time not holding back.
The blade of the sword began to vibrate, and a pink light shone on it. Holding the sword with both hands, Kai took a high stance and swung it down in a parabolic motion, beheading Rigurd with a 180-degree swing. "

the notifications rang in Kai's mind.
"Well, I totally forgot that I possess the ability to steal my opponent's skills," Kai mused. He looked at the rest of the adventurers and said, "I should try out my new skill on you then. Thank you in advance for becoming my guinea pigs." Kai's menacing smile sent shivers down their spines.

It didn't take long for him to defeat the group. Looking at the blue panel, he wore a satisfied smile.

"Only three skill holders? What a letdown," Kai complained to himself as he started browsing his newly acquired skills.
[Haste: B] - A skill that increases the movement speed of the target desired by the caster. After casting, the target's movement speed increases by 70%. Duration: Until the caster cuts off the supply of mana.
[Transmutation: C] - A skill possessed by every alchemist. Used to enhance the nature of herbs to create better potions. It can also change or enhance the structure of any 3rd-dimensional object, material, or substance.
[Wind blade: D] - A wind elemental skill that creates a curved blade made of wind, capable of cutting through rocks. While browsing his skills, a sewer rat appeared near Rigurd's corpse.
Kai lifted his right hand, pointing both index and middle fingers. Suddenly, a shiny pink sphere the size of a marble formed at his fingertips. Kai increased his focus on his fingertip, causing the shiny sphere to spin.
The sewer rat felt the mana and tried to escape, but Kai aimed and released the spinning ball, piercing straight through the rat like a laser. "That was easy," Kai said, nodding satisfactorily.
"I'll name it Magic Missile." He tried to remember where he had seen this technique before, but to no avail. When he was about to collect the tail as proof of subjugation, he sensed multiple mana signatures surrounding him.
Kai created the sphere again, this time the size of a basketball, illuminating the surroundings.
"F*ck," Kai cursed loudly.
